My sister's baby was born addicted to crack and I was getting permanent custody I was without a vehicle I paid a neighbor to take me to the hospital for a week. Until my car was fixed.

I will say what aggravated me was the perception that since my sister was an addict I may also be one so I had to go for UA. I did so for three weeks and the judge was like she has not tested positive for anything. Why do you want her to keep being tested. CPS worker said she felt the sign on my refrigerator was put there to hide my usage. The sign said " In this house; love is a given, acceptance is a given, but drugs and alcohol are not permitted in this home." I still am confused by the CPS workers thoughts on me having this sign. But it worked out.

@@carriereynolds7837 I had the same experience with my sister and my son (nephew) but we were stuck in the system for almost 3 years due to covid. They treat family member of addicts like that and it's a shame. I've never done drugs or been in trouble for anything while my siblings all did. They made us give them medical records and tb scans, federal and state background checks, kept saying my husband had the same name as some guy in KY who was a felon which is crazy because they weren't the same age or anything just happened to have the same first and last name! My husband had to sign papers stating he'd never even been in KY. We finally got him fully adopted last May. Luckily we did talk my sister into getting her tubes tied before she took off again.

@@TinFoilCat90 yep they do that. They also tried after I moved to get me for educational neglect. I moved to the state three days after school started. Went to enroll my oldest and was told I couldn't until I transferred records over to the board of health. But I asked then where do I send her for school. This is where the truancy officer and school work with CPS. See school officials tell you they can't let the kids attend until their records are transfered. If you listen to them CPS will be called. Well, a truancy officer did make a visit but not for my daughter. For a woman with 8 children. I wasn't home. Neighbor said I was. Truancy officer said he heard movement in my home. Could have I had two huge dogs at the time. Any way they came to the school took my daughter into the system for educational neglect. My daughter had been attending since the first day I enrolled her. What were they using; the facts from the other case. And the fact that I should have looked into enrolling her prior to moving. I did get her back. Only because I had an attorney that threatened to go to the states oversight board. And send transcripts to the supreme Court of the judge saying this is family court not criminal court; we don't need evidence just the case workers opinion. Yeah my case was quickly dismissed and I was reimbursed 500 of the 1500 I had to pay to the state in support of my daughter. So in some cases CPS is a money making scheme for the state. In others they are needed to save children. Like the case that was before a heroine addict who had 12 cases dismissed and was on her thirteenth case. Idk I felt like I was targeted because I was a single mom new to the state. My oldest daughter's father showed up at the same court hearing and the case worker tried to say she wasn't aware of who he was. That's was the most hilarious thing ever. Because he said is that why you refused to answer my calls or text messages? Then had his attorney ask about the fact that the message was left on the door by the truancy officer. The judge said sir the case has been dismissed. He said I want on record that this note was about another woman and her children. The judge said it is noted it was a misunderstanding. Then he asked when child support was ordered why was my client not ordered to pay? The case worker again said we weren't aware of his involvement. When case workers do their job properly kids are helped and so are families.

Really sorry your baby had to go thru something like this…..it’s a horrible situation. I’m so glad you were there for your baby….this shows a daddy and man who cares….there’s so many who say they care but don’t put in the work or will even show up. Good for you…hope you and your child continue to do well…it will help the child so much knowing that you’re there…..and will make you feel good too.

As a Kindergarten teacher I can share that the lasting effects of being born addicted to drugs is far reaching and can have life long consequences for the child, through no fault of their own. This is heartbreaking.

I agree I worked in preschool for over 20 years and it is so sad, to see a child dealing with issues due to a parents addiction . I have also witnessed a mother who heavily drank while pregnant and how that affects a child as well.

I knew a girl who had been born addicted-was now adopted by people who loved her, but she was pretty challenged at school and regular problem solving was difficult. She as a 12 year old played well with my 8 year old but was more simple and would have emotional melt downs frequently. Then in high school she started following her mother’s path as if predestined to do so and fell away into drugs which eventually took her life 3-4 years after that. Her adoptive parents tried to help her and tried even getting her enrolled in college but sadly she passed from opioids and some other stuff as well. I just felt so bad for her being born like that. Oh I forgot-here’s the weird thing-She was born with HIV but it actually disappeared from her system completely so far as any testable amounts showing up. People were calling that a miracle but her addictions were already starting up.

@@beastshawneethat’s so sad Because a baby’s immune system isn’t fully developed, and HIV lives in the immune system, HIV can disappear in some newborns since it’s harder for it to replicate effectively. There have been people who had bone marrow due to cancer transplants which cured their HIV infection as well for the same reason. It’s sad she had that going for her and ended up following that path

I've been a nurse for these babies for 15 years. I've never seen a mom go to prison for doing drugs while pregnant. This should happen all the time!!! Too bad they can't be sterilized too. The condition these babies must endure is heartbreaking.

They don’t test you they don’t test your baby. If other countries can do this the US could to I find it one of the many cash grabs of the system.

they won’t really remove for marijuana unless it’s present at birth. They will remove for meth because it’s transferred from skin to skin contact.

I can't fathom these people. Who put drugs before their babies. Once CPS is involved. They want nothing more than to reunite families. They are lucky, cause soo many services are freely available. That usually aren't available to them, if CPS weren't involved. They could have gotten clean for their children. But instead they make excuses.

My Son was born with 3holes in his heart and not breathing, I was not working and Dad decided not to be involved, I made sure even though my financial situation was less than perfect at that time, and did not have a car was recovering from 4 days of labor and emergency c section and still managed no matter how physically painful I was there at the NICU everyday so absolutely no excuses can be made.

@DonnellxxOkafor Bc I was a college graduate, live in NYC where a car isn't necessary and I had family support and he was born with holes in his heart bc babies in utero have these holes naturally they usually close when there first breath was taken, I wasn't going to abort a gift from God! He is 13 and is Amazing and at the top of his class abortion or adoption isn't always the answer!

In Michigan, if a mother has her rights terminated to a child, the state petitions to terminate her rights to any children born after that. Even if the child is born healthy, and mom is clean, she has to prove she is fit. Then a judge can either throw out the petition, or terminate her rights.

I had a prem baby, born @ 32 weeks and I was allowed to be there pretty much 24/7. I was able to feed my son (via a tube) and bathe him, change his nappy. Most of all I was able to enjoy Kangaroo care. Mums and dads need to hold their baby against their chest for the health... the heartbeat is soothing to them. I spent hours holding my bubs who is now 6 ft 2 and 20 yrs of age. (lol I'm no druggie haha)

Same girl! My twins were born at 32 weeks and in the nicu. I didn’t miss a feeding or anything. I lived in that nicu. Now they are 22 years old, dual major college graduates that just traveled the world. I’m so proud of them. But those nicu days will stay in my mind and heart forever.

Me too! I luv hearing stories frm other Moms of preemies!Its a hell of an experience. My 1st was born at 25wks(1lb 9oz)&I barely went home! I slept there, showered there,cried when I left&called often. There was a baby there at the time that the Mom did not come see&the nurses would hold her etc. I just can’t imagine but it is a big difference between a parent on drugs&a parent not. Our head is clear,has our child&their health in mind when they only have their next fix on their mind. I’m sure that’s why she checked out the hospital AMA

My son was in the NICU (he had a birth related injury brain bleed and would stop breathing). We were allowed to be in the NICU 22 hours a day. Parents were asked to leave at 3a and 3p for an hour each time. The nurses did shift change and we grabbed some food. It’s good to just breathe for an hour.

I worked in a nicu as admin clerk. Ours was 24/7 as long as the parents were not bothering others! The only time we didn’t allow anyone in was if an infant was passing. We gave the family privacy. Only had one mother throw a fit.

Withdrawal of any sort can be unbearable as an adult who knows what's happening. I can't even fathom what a pre mature infant goes through. At the very least have the where with all to have safe sex or be on birth control. Even if it's for selfish reasons. It's sad how often this happens.

I have friends and family that are nurses and worked within the PICU, they have cared for babies born addicted (Where I live in Canada there are a lot born with drug addictions but more so FASD, which in many cases is diagnosed after a few months to 3 years of age) and they truly are angels doing God's work!

You are so correct. This is heart wrenching AND infuriating! 💔 This deplorable person should never be allowed to raise children. That poor innocent infant. The "mother" obviously didn't care about her baby while she was in utero and now after she's been born. Bad tires is a poor excuse for not visiting her baby who was holding on to life due to her! That poor baby also has a father who wants nothing to do with her. Miss Walker asking if infant was a "relative placement or JUST a foster home?" is hard to hear. As a foster parent myself for 8 years, ( while raising my own kids), we are not "just foster homes." We are often the only chance in Hell that children have to have a good and healthy life. Perhaps that was just an oversight, but she should choose her words more carefully. It also sounds like the ball was dropped when it comes to criminally charging the "mother" for the death of her last infant. 🙁 Happy to hear that baby is doing well, considering her horrible start with her precious life.

@@Annie1962 it has nothing to do with a woman's right but if a child is born drug-addicted or it happens more than once and a mother keeps losing her child then yeah she should be sterilized! I agree that a lot of women should be sterilized because a lot of women just don't take it seriously they keep doing drugs and addiction is very serious and needs to be addressed the second they find out they're pregnant and they need to stop doing those drugs!

We don’t sterilize women against their will any more in this country. It happened a lot before however. Native and Black Women and mentally challenged women and mentally ill women were sterilized against their will and often without their knowledge. This has been found to be a human rights violation.

This is so heartbreaking. I pray for this innocent baby that she makes a full recovery and remains in the safest care possible. This baby needs lots of love that mom has completely failed to give her. Is it mom's fault? Sure. If she could be placed in a long term rehab, she may become a mom she needs to be. So sad. I'm a foster parent too. I would kill for a baby like this. I just wish they got foster parents in there before a baby is discharged so someone could go to the hospital and be there for this baby. Babies do so much better when someone is there to hold them. Plus it would start to build a bond.

@AJ When I was younger, it was called a "Big Brother, Big Sister" program. Maybe you could check with your local Social Services. I know I Loved it as a teen. I didn't feel so alone...

@@AJ-ds8jd so you actually can help. There is something called "respite". It's where you watch a kid for a hour or two while the foster parent is at a doctor's appt, going through continuing education classes, having/recovering from surgery etc. You still need to do things like pass a background check, do a home study, complete some classes, etc but you'd only do it when you have time/ want to and for a few hours at a time. In addition you'd get paid from the county. If you are on the respite list you will be open to getting many different children but you can determine the age range you prefer. If you want a more regular contact with 1 specific child then a program like "Big Brothers, Big Sisters" is awesome

Why can't we pay people in this position $5,000 to get their tubes tied? We pay for the procedure and 6 weeks of aftercare. Nothing forced just a way for the addict a way to stop hurting innocents.

This case is so sad, but I love seeing how the team worked together for the child. I am not a fan of cps! My children were sa’d at their fathers and my daughter was burnt on purpose and I contacted cps, had case workers change three times then over a year into it the supervisor called me and asked why nothing was happening. Well seeing as how I was the parent and not the worker wouldn’t they know? Nope she called me back and apologized for the system failing my children! I will never trust any government association because they were suppose to help my children and left them in the dirt. I have taken every step to protect my children and get them the help they need and keep the father and his evil other half away!

Incarcerating mothers suffering from addiction only makes it harder for them to seek treatment and more likely that their children will be born with addiction. She needed medical care but got jail instead

My son was a prefect, healthy baby when he was born. We stayed in the hospital a few nights(birthing complications) and at one point, my husband wanted him and I to run home for a moment to grab a few things(he was unable to drive). I agreed(not very happily) but we left and I kid you not, to this day, I am still mad and upset with him. I did not want to leave my baby for a single second. I could not imagine my son needing me and me just not being there and not having a single care, that kills me. And I can absolutely relate, I get it. I am an addict. I’m clean and have been clean for years now, but there is nothing in this world that could keep me from my son and making sure he is ok and healthy! That just blows my mind and breaks my heart! Edit: To be very clear, I absolutely did not use a second of my pregnancy. I had gotten clean long before I was ever pregnant. My son was not hooked on anything when he was born. I just don’t want folks to think I am defending her using while pregnant, or that I did that. It makes me so sad for that baby to have to go through what she did in a matter of just minutes her life. I hope she is doing absolutely amazing now though!

When I was in active fentynal addiction I gave birth to my youngest son. He had to stay in the NICU for 3 weeks to safely withdrawal. I did not have a car at that time and lived 3 miles from the hospital. I walked every day to and from the hospital to be with and hold my son. He did so well in the NICU and he was able to come straight home with me once he was healthy. I am sober today and I have done everything to make sure my children were never taken from me. Looking back I do not see the time I spent walking to see my infant as a difficult time. I remember holding him in my arms and loving every moment I spent all day every day just sitting in the hospital rocking him🥰

What state are you in? In my state cps is immediately involved if a newborn has drugs in its system & NICU babies you can absolutely forget about it!!!! They do not allow them to go with parents in active addiction

As an attorney and foster parent, I don't know a state in the US where if a baby is born addicted, they aren't released to mom until she has worked all services and maintained sobriety for an extended time (like over a year), which is very understandable. More and more states are getting stricter, seeking incarceration for mom for child endangerment, which is very appropriate. Commenters can be from all other nations though.

@@amandakay789 You are soo right. It's the same in Australia. With any baby who is born addicted. It's standard protocol to have children's services involved. I would have assumed it would take at least 3-4 months minimum of giving clean urines. ( with her history 12 months sounds fair) Plus a certain amount of supervised visits, then some unsupervised. Plus following any plans they'd put in place. Before they'd entertain giving her baby back into her care. Seems like the whole truth wasn't being told. here.

My daughter was in the NICU for 2 weeks after birth due to amniotic fluid in her lungs. The nurses had to beg me to go home to get sleep that my little girl will be in good hands....I left for 6 hours then returned! They even gave me a room to sleep over after a week..I saw babies withdrawing, the cry is the saddest most heartbreaking sound. Absolutely disgusting she just ignored this suffering baby, she couldn't face what she had done!! UGH PISSES ME OFF!!

I didn't know that I was pregnant with my younger baby boy until I was 6 months along and he, my now four-year-old, ended up coming into the world through a very traumatic delivery. He was rushed OFF to the NICU at Children's hospital before I could even hold him.. It's impossible to put into words the feeling of giving birth to this perfect little human then having him whisked away before I even know that he was breathing. The sudden emptiness, intense fear, and horrible separation anxiety was all-encompassing and truly intolerable. It had been a high risk pregnancy and the hospital strongly advised that I not leave, even warning me that my insurance probably wouldn't cover my delivery if I did leave AMA! There was no chance in hell that was going to stay without my baby. So like this mother I left the hospital AMA after the delivery, but unlike her I didn't leave to get away from my son I left so that I could have him in my arms as soon as possible. I ended up living with him at the NICU for the next week and a half and finding out the day we left that I had had preeclampsia, on our first day home I ended up almost having a stroke and was right back in the hospital. But this time he was allowed to stay with me at the women's hospital. I told the story not to shame her but because I know what it is to be an addict, I am in recovery. There's just no chance pass up the opportunity to be with my baby in the NICU after losing a baby. I understand that she has had a rough road and has clearly never been able to pull herself out of it even for her children but this is a newborn 3 lb baby, the baby has only known her mother and her mother's voice and it would have been such a comfort for the baby if she had visited her. I just can't get past for not taking the opportunity to go see that baby while she was all alone in the NICU or the fact that her previous baby had died surrounded by strangers rather than the comforting presence of their mother.

Watching this heartbreaking Case (and I'm a FIRM believer of Women's Rights) confirms to me that Court Ordered Sterilization should be allowed in the Law Book's and failure to do so would result in Prison Time. Enough Prison Time to send a CLEAR message that this behavior will not be allowed. You wanna do hard drug's and screw up your life and die then knock yourself out BUT keep our innocent helpless Children out of your mess. I was a "Sitter" for 7 yrs at our Local Hospital when I worked for our Counties Health and Human Service's Dept. To sit and rock these babies for hour's to comfort them during their withdrawals will bring you to your knees by the end of your shift. Many Hospital's have Public Volunteers that are Sitters. Check your own Area Hospital's and get involved in helping our defenseless babies that have zero choice in suffering horrific withdrawals. Though very painful to do the reward is worth it when the babies are drug free.

Sadly, this is an everyday occurrence in my city. I'm a recovering addict with 12 years clean. I had all of my children before I got addicted to my pain medicine, thankfully. These mothers are dabbling in fentanyl and meth and having multiple babies born addicted and it's heartbreaking. 😞

This is HEARTBREAKING 💔. My daughter was in the nicu when she was born. I had a c-section, it wasn’t easy but I visited every time I possibly could. Leaving my baby at the hospital and having to go home was AWFUL! I made sure I did anything within my power to get her home as soon as possible. Even with a feeding tube, she is still needed as much breastmilk as possible, so I figured out a way to get a portable breast pump to be able to pump in the car on the way to the hospital. My husband and I were there on the hour every 2 hours from 8am until 10pm until she came home. I know it may not be doable for every parent, but my mind was blown by the number of babies in the nicu with no one there for them. I understand if a baby is in the Nicu for a few months and the mom has to go back to work or something like that and can only come so often, but this is not the case for a lot of these babies. It was awful because you could tell which ones were going through withdrawals and I rarely ever saw their moms or any family to comfort them. At one point I asked the nicu nurses if I could hold any of them to soothe them while my husband was holding our daughter, but I wasn’t allowed because of hippa. There is so much scientific evidence that babies that are born addicted to something do better when parents are there to care for them. No matter if a baby is born addicted to drugs or not they still need skin to skin. We got very lucky and my daughter was strong enough to come home after only 8 days. Unfortunately, I gave birth right under 36 weeks so she was a little early. I’m only 15 minutes in, but my heart goes out to this baby girl. I truly hope that she has someone to love her. 💔💔💔💔

Yep that's why I went to the hospital every day. I would go browse the gift shop or go to the cafeteria. Sometimes I'd go down to the little mall that was 10 minutes away and spend a few hours walking around. Then go back so I could feed my baby girl. I hadn't been granted adoption yet but I still didn't want to leave her. She was sick consistently after leaving the hospital. Her first few years into first grade she got everything. She still got sick but less often. By the time she was in high school she was doing good. She needed a bit of help academically. I got her tutors and a counselor. It isn't easy. But as a mom I felt it was my responsibility to help her succeed in any way I could.

My husband saw how addictions manifested themselves in adulthood as a corrections officer of 34+ years. In my province in Canada 🇨🇦, we deal more so with FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) there is a high percentage of it, women that simply refuse to stop drinking in pregnancy. Not being facetious, however once those brain cells are gone, they can never be recovered, never. Due to how it affects them into adulthood, is why my husband would be interacting with grown men that have low IQs, poor decision making skills etc. It is truly sad.

Two of my babies spent time in the NICU, one for 3 weeks, one for 1 week. I stayed on as a boarder so I could be there, I nursed my babies for every feeding and pumped milk in between. We had a major earthquake during my first NICU baby experience. The bhrses told me that they'd never had a parent stay there and be there for every single feeding. I was baffled. But I felt firsthand how hard it was. I had to arrange for care for my older kid for my first experience, my two older kids for my second experience. But I a) couldn't miss the moments I would have missed not being there and b) just relinquish my responsibilities as a mother and let the nurses fully take over. I knew everything that was going in with my babies at every moment. I remember sitting in there rocking my baby after he had received medication and nursing him as another mom and dad came in and started cryijg myself when the parents weren't even sure which baby was theirs because they hadn't been there in a few days. My heart broke for that baby. But it also made me respect the njrses, well, all but one, one was not as personal and kind and caring with the babies as ALL of the other nurses were, but the rest were SO amazing and disn't judge why any baby was there, they just cared so hard for those babies. One used to wear my son in a front carrier I had brought in when I would finally go sleep after much prodding from them to do so, as she cared for other babies in there. They just were so kind, so helpful, so thorough, so considerate. It made such a difference to me. And I was so grateful the hospital allowed me to board in and evebtualoy my 3 weeker was doing so wepl, they moved him to my room and they had to come check on him and provide meds for him every few hours hut otherwise let me pretty much feel like a normal new mom. Mad respect for those who dedicate themselves to caring for thise fragile babies and who hold the parents hands in the process. And much respect to the parents who dedicate their time to those babies because it isn't easy to do so. But oh so worth it in the end.

I am so sorry for all children having to be in the middle of adults who fail them. Raised in many homes as a child it's very hard to attach to anyone as an adult. I understand the tendency to blame ourselves for our children's poor behavior. My oldest struggled for several years with poor decision making and compulsive lying, and we had nearly no contact from 2018 up until just this past summer. She has been in intensive medication and psychological therapy for over 2 years, having been diagnosed with ADHD, PTSD (childhood SA and abandonment by sperm donor), and Bipolar. She is doing so well and recently left a toxic relationship (another piece of our strained relationship), and I am just so freaking proud of her and grateful for the chance to repair our relationship. I have never claimed to be a perfect mother, and I know I failed my kids in certain areas (a lot due to an abusive marriage). My kids are now 18, 23, and 24. I sincerely hope the parents of your grand babies are able to turn it around and be the parents those children deserve. The blame is not yours, as much as it may feel that way. We can only do what we can do, the rest is up to them. Shouldering all of that does nothing to help the kids. I hope you can find a way to give yourself some grace, as impossible as that may seem right now. 💜🙏💜

Working hard to do just what said and that is GRACE give my self and inch of grace at a time. I am human and I have failed but when I really mark my life there are more triumphs then there are fails. My grandchildren are the only hope I have to cling to. Also I am aware they may not listen to a darn thing because they have been desensitized to some of the worst one can see. No sa I am grateful to say. Violence and drug addiction all maintained by her bachelor degree in nursing until her secret cost her everything. My worst was way long after she was living her life. @Ajz4nana Grandgirls we all have to hit bottom before we turn things around. I was also a nurse and witnessed how easy access to meds could be more temptation than some could handle. Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Grace is so easy to give others but so difficult to give ourselves. Just remember that who you were then is not who you are now, that you have learned and grown from the mistakes that were made, and that sharing the mistakes you made with others has the potential to help them in ways you may never truly know. I just had this conversation with my oldest last night -- she was drowning in guilt for hurting someone important to her at the height of her abusive relationship. We talked about only accepting the blame that is rightfully ours to accept, recognizing how we've changed that behavior, and consciously giving ourselves grace for the wrongs we have done. I am so very grateful I could have that conversation with her, and so glad I can share this with you -- I hope it helps, even if only a little right now. Accept the blame that belongs to you and drop the rest of it -- we do not exist in a vacuum, other people have their own blame to shoulder. 💜🙏💜

Even if you have insurance (not everyone can afford it) it might still be considered an elective surgery and wouldn’t be covered. I think women who do this to children should have forced sterilization, paid for by the state before they leave prison.

I just can't wrap my head around abandoning or just not showing up to even check on your newborn baby. When my daughter was in the hospital for almost a month, I NEVER LEFT! Not even to shower or sleep OR TO HAVE CHRISTMAS! They said it was fine if my husband and I left but we didn't. (And it was a good thing we didn't because they botched her surgery and almost killed her) We even had Christmas in the hospital. We decorated an IV pole as a tree and put gifts under it. My 3rd child was premature. I didn't drive at the time. I caught the bus every morning to go to the hospital. I was there in time for his morning feed and to bathe him. I stayed all day everyday. Until he came home. I think it was about 3 weeks. I would put him to sleep and watch him until he woke up for his next feed. If he stirred and started crying as I was leaving. I'd go back and put him back to sleep. I couldn't imagine not seeing my baby everyday and holding him close. I would have loved to have stayed longer, but I had 2 young teens at home, who would be home by 4pm from school. Weekends they would also come with me to visit their brother. 💙💜 There was a drug addicted baby in the room next to my baby. I saw the mother twice in 8 days. She stayed for no more than an hour each time. Once I went downstairs to have a coffee and to get some fresh air. I got to talking with her. She said she was waiting for her dealer to drop off something for her. Smh. I saw her 6 months later in my suburb, at the local shops. Id often take my son in his stroller for walks to the beach. She remembered me. I asked if she had her baby back. She said yes. But I saw her quite frequently after that day. She never had her baby with her. I think she lied. Cause she was embarrassed that she lost her baby. But I was glad. It was clear she was still doing drugs. She was always at the pharmacy. That particular one was also a methadone pick up pharmacy. But many people only stay on it as back up. For the days they have no money and no drugs.

I need to say this because it seems that some of you in the comments dont get that a parent can be charged for this but my son was charged for having a known relationship and knowing that she was still doing drugs while prego but the kicker was he was in jail the last 5 months of her pregnancy. So since he and the mother both did drugs together he had a service plan too. He finished his and the worker didnt like him at all. Mother didnt do nothing just left the city. My son got custody of his child. He worked hard for the program he was testing 5 days a week, every day , in treatment, sober living, and then got to come home to be with his child. BUT he was not right in the head for a child...period!!!
