About Honest Tea Talk
with Aliyah, LaYinka & Sumayah
Inspired by Jada Pinkett-Smith's 'Red Table Talk', 3 Muslim women have set up a platform to speak openly and honestly, giving viewers an unedited insight into the minds and life of Muslim women. Honest Tea Talk brings deep and often unspoken topics to the table to lay down our masks and start much-needed discussions about matters related to Muslim women and the ummah at large.

I literally am crying writing this. There’s a brother I was introduced to for marriage, I fell in love with him but qadr of Allah things haven’t gone as i thought. I’m so mad at myself I let my guard down too soon and I know I’ve fallen in love with him, literally my heart aches every single day. I needed to hear this podcast. May Allah reward abundantly my dear sisters. Please make dua that Allah fixes my broken heart.

It's never your fault to fall in love with the person you are getting to married with. As long as it's in halal pattern so, it all right so, take it easy on yourself, my dear sister. And hang in there 💜 btw, I'm in the same situation as you alhamdulillah and yeah, it still aches but take it easy on yourself and don't scold yourself 💜

*He is breaking you to heal you.* “From the perfection of Allah’s ihsan is that He allows His slave to taste the bitterness of the break before the sweetness of the mend. He does not break His believing slave, except to mend him. And He does not withhold from him, except to give him. And He does not test him (with hardship), except to cure him.” ~ Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah

This talk was so reassuring 🙏 Many of us watched this episode currently experiencing, or having had experienced, heartbreak. If I may share some useful reoccuring tips I keep coming across: -three main adhkaar you should increase during hardship: istighfaar (astaghfirullah), salah on the Prophet pbuh, dua of Prophet Yunus (la ilaha ila anta subhanaka inni kuntu min al dhaalimeen) -dua, dua, dua, as much as you can, whenever you can -firm belief that after hardship is ease, and Allah has your best interests at heart ❤ May Allah make it easy for us all! Ameen🙏

I love your explanation. Praise Allah because he has given us the formula to deal with all situations in life. Yes, heartbreak too. We just need to remember them and apply them. I truly believe that Allah heals a broken heart, and whatever the type of heartbreak we are facing, patience is one of Allah’s most powerful formulas we have, although it is difficult, but it is that patient we need to have to let Allah heal our hearts

I experienced 2 different heartbreaks close in time to each other. And aliyah's advice of praying to Allah subhannallah worked for me. I suggest choosing a time where you can pray and no one is with you, even if it's just 2 sunnah rukuus. And pour your heart out to Allah, he knows what's in your heart but the fact that you have turned to Him and put your trust that talking to Him is going to help you find a way out, you can finish the prayer content that Allah loves you and will most definitely take care of you. Read the translation/tafseer of surah Duhaa. Beautiful! Also, it's very easy to get frustrated that things aren't coming to you quick enough, we must always remind ourselves that something may seem good but it's bad for us or that something that seems bad may actually be good for us. Allah knows it all at the end of the day, and the events in our lives fit perfectly together like jigsaw puzzle. May Allah bless you sisters. Xxx

I have some knowledge to share regarding heartbreak which i learnt from my own experince: STOP LOOKING FOR HAPPYNESS IN THE EXTERNAL , HAPPYNESS COMES FROM WITHIN. find urself and be happy and compelte all on ur own!! People think happyness comes from another persn or external thigs but IM TELLIG U... U CAN BE HAPPY AND COMPLETE ALL ON UR OWN!! Find ur own goals, find ur self , love urself!!! Then u will never get heartbroken. And u will attract top quality relationships

Asalamualaykum, you three sisters have shared a topic hardly ever spoken about in our community. I honestly hate when someone is heartbroken and then they are given advice to snap out of it and then told that it’s being ungrateful etc.. or likening their sad and down situation to be ungrateful to what Allah has given them and that they should be patient etc. Not everyone who is butt hurt is ungrateful or doesn’t have patience - it’s a human thing to feel sad, down and like life is finished, but it doesn’t mean they don’t like or love their religion! Jazakillahu Khayr for your show. I pray Allah allows you 3 to benefit even more ameen

Yes!!! Absolutely!! Its not so easy to just say move on and get over it...those are some harsh words for people who just went through a devastating relationship. You need time...you need love. You need acceptance and understanding. We should be saying "I'm here for you when you need me". "I empathize and you can cry as much as you need" let's not belittle peoples feelings by telling them to move on.

I agree with you completely. During my early age, during my late teens, I felt in love not because I loved for some physical attraction but, for his support, caring and passion he showed me duting my darkest time in my life. My dad came in the middle of that he told me someone came asking my hands for marriage and he told him yes and I am going to get married in one month. He made all the wedding arrangement without my in put. He told my mother if she said no or did something foolish she will be out of our lives and I will announced to people that she is dead. I was 22 years old ( we are talking about 37 years ago). I didn't work, I was on last year of college and no choice but married to this 14 years older than me. ( I am still married to him). The young man was there during my wedding and supported me and my mother ( my mother was pushing him into marring my younger sister ) but, he told my mother that he loves me was planned to marry me and now that hope is gone he just wanted to go far far away and he did. I lived my life in heartbreak for long ling time. But now I don't have and feeling, I don't care about me, just wanted my children to be happy, successful and strong in their lives.

I won't do that to my children now.

Masha'Allah another amazing video! I think another type of heartbreak that we don't often talk about is the one we experience when we've done something wrong in a relationship, especially if this results in the end of said relationship. A few key lessons I've learned from this kind of experience is that: 1. Allah swt is the most forgiving, even when we feel unworthy of forgiveness, and we should never place limitations on His capacity to forgive. 2. Forgiving ourselves and receiving forgiveness from the person we've wronged are two completely different things. We aren't owed forgiveness but that doesn't mean we can't make peace with ourselves. 3. We can't change the past but we can learn from our mistakes and use those hard earned lessons to better ourselves. 4. We're all a work in progress. Our mistakes don't define us but the way we choose to deal with them do. 5. Make dua for the person who you lost! They may never be a part of your life again but that doesn't mean you can't actively pray for their happiness and well-being. This is especially helpful if you're dealing with a lot of guilt. Plus the angels will make dua for you when you do this so it's a win-win situation! Jazakallah kayr you lovely ladies for making these videos. Please keep them coming! May Allah swt reward your efforts ❤️

These are the conversations we need to have on a daily. No one should have to suffer in silence because they feel ashamed of committing a sins. Sins were created for us to get closer to Allah. If there wasn't sins then dua wouldn't have been there. Sometimes in life we have to go through trials to get to a good place with Allah. This was my test. I had to go through bad things to get to Allah. I am happy he never left me but brought me closer to him. This channel is amazing and I support it 100%. As muslims we need to support eachother because this is one of our test as humans . Is how we help eachother .

Salaam sisters, I have just recently broken up with a guy that I was due to marry, it’s mainly my fault as I betrayed him. But I’m so upset because I made a mistake and now I have to deal with the consequences. I’m very much in love with him and want to marry him but he has left me. Watching this really helped me as it reminded me to turn back to Allah, that he knows best, and that maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Please make Dua for me that I am able to get through this inshallah.

Thank you so much sisters! Because of the way I grew up, I genuinely thought that it was impossible for someone to fall in love outside of marriage, and so when I did and it couldn't go through I was confused and heartbroken - but didn't realise it was that. I thought you could only fall in love once, I didn't know there was this concept of healing, moving on and love coming through again. I just didn't know! I have learnt so much, and how little I knew about human emotion, I strengthened my relationship with Allah during this time and how I would raise my children differently, and be more open with truths, because otherwise they go alone wondering what is this feeling, can humans really feel like this? It is a journey I went on all alone but even though it shouldn't have happened, like you said we are human and I have come out so much stronger, less naive and closer to Allah insha'Allah.

I am watching this for a second time. Heartbreak is beyond the impact of a romantic relationship. It can be your current job loss, friendships dwindling in a different direction, or losing a battle with your inner self. SubhanAllah the discussion in the video transpired into realizing healing comes from your relationship with Allah. Trust the timing...

Forgiveness helps ease the pain of heartache. Time heals all wounds. However, the relationship can never be the same. It's a pity when siblings don't get along with one another, especially when they are orphans. The hurt, the pain, the betrayal cannot be mended. No amount of apologies can mend the relationship.

I can't talk about experiencing heartbreak without admitting I've broken 💔 a few hearts myself, albeit that was never the plan, as I'm soft hearted myself. I've experienced a few heartbreaks, but it's not something Ive been able to discuss openly. The closest to sharing was confiding in a few trusted, close friends who know my story. I can't possibly marry every man that saw me as a "prospective" wife, or every proposal that came my way. So, a few brothers were disappointed for that. I have experienced abandonment and neglect as a child- so suffered a massive broken heart by a blood relation! I also forfeited a true love to do the right thing. The knowledge didn't come early enough. In the end, a believer must believe in and accept Qadaar! And that's what I've done bi ithnillah!
