Aw, Leo's dads are so sweet, and they have had the most terrible luck with their beloved pets in the past. It just breaks my heart every time. As I recall, they brought Isabella in to have her approved for a pregnancy, and instead found out that she needed open heart surgery. I hope that they are financially well off, because each operation has been a major one. 😢

I've just lost my "Astro" although his name was Figaro, he died on 27th Dec. He didn't wander because we're rural but he had a huge personality & he introduced himself to anyone who visited & he gave generously of his love of life, his conversations, his sense of fun & humor. He was an AMAZING CAT❤.

I would put Astro on a lead with a harness .. he can still go out but at least his owner can help with making sure he doesn’t get hurt. Especially if his eye(s) are compromised

Agreed. I would be so worried that Astro would get lost, hurt, etc. His owner wouldn't have to chase after him and coax him out/off of places. Also, it is even more unsafe due to his eye issues to be roaming around freely.

God this episode hurt to watch. My 4 year old puppy had crashed so badly he didn't eat, and my mom took him to the ER where we found out he has Addison's. We didn't even consider hounds could have a lot of genetic diseases, and his was so bad if he was delayed in going to the ER he would have died in our home. I don't know if he will make it to be 5 this year. I don't think he will, but he is stubborn enough to eat buffalo sauce and defend our home. He may not be wagging his tail anymore, but he's better for now with treatment.

I had a min pin who was diagnosed with a degenerative hip disease at 4 months and we elected to get the femoral head ostectomy and she went on to lead a full happy life. It did not slow her down one stinking bit. I don't exactly remember how long after but an x-ray was done and scar tissue or cartilage grew in the place of the femoral head. The leg was not "free floating." She no longer had any pain. She ran & jumped & and did all the things just like a normal dog would. I don't know how well this would work in a big dog. But if you have a small dog, don't be afraid or pressured into the very expensive hip replacement.

Due to the severity it most likely was not a possibility in this case else it would've been presented as an option also the dog had had a previous surgery and each new time adds more risk and they just lost their orher dog during surgery so you can understand the choice plus its not a brand new things they said he's had trouble walking since he was proper young which is probs why it was a case of quality and length of life while avoiding another procedure

I have been a cat mommy most of my life. I recently had orthopedic surgery and hope that I can adopt a five year old or so cat. Mickey, who rivaled the cat in this video lived to age 19 when he died of a short illness. I live in Boston MA. If anyone knows of a short hair domestic cuddler who wants to be adopted, please let me know. Thank you. I love this show. I wish it was on every night. I realize of course that not all goes well but these vets try. Dr. Brum at Angell Memorial was Mickey's vet. He did everything he could. Dear Vets, you are a gift to the world.

Because other countries have different ideas about cats. My cats are limited to the porch, but that's because my neighbours allow their dogs to run loose.

Yeah, where I live it is standard for cats to roam loose. I have had several feral cats decide to make their home on my property. We did a bit of the trap/neuter/release thing, and the poor things got hit by cars, ravaged by disease, torn apart by wildlife, and perhaps even worse, they decimated the local wildlife, causing catastrophic damage to the ecosystem. I thought I had to have farm cats to keep pests out of the animal feed. As it turned out, the cats would get a mouse here and there, but they mostly just made life more difficult for the natural predators to do a good job. Mostly, they harassed and killed the snakes, toads, and lizards. Since I started locking the cats up indoors, the snakes have taken over. We no longer have rodents in the grain, and way fewer insects in the garden, thanks to the recovering population of toads and lizards. Snakes are the best disease control you can imagine. It has literally taken years for this land to recover after the damage caused by my own cats, and I feel so horribly guilty about that. Letting cats out is bad for everyone. The wildlife, the spread of disease for humans, the ecosystem, the livestock, and the cats themselves. We now keep our own cats confined, and make sure any feral cats that turn up are permanently removed. It is best for everyone.

This is ridiculous. A hip replacement on a dog that small is completely unnecessary. They do FHOs (the 1st option) all the time on dogs much bigger than this one and they do fine.

But with the severity, it might not be a possibility if they could've they would've done the minimal or atleast given the option given that it wasn't I'm pretty sure the vet knew straight away the best move forward to give the dog the best quality of life for the longest time not try something which might not work cuz the advancement then move onto it anyways especially as the dog had already had a previous surgery and their other dog recently died so uno they made the right choice

KZbin monitors videos and can possibly deactivate the account if there is too much blood or tissue showing.

They can't show blood, KZbin policy. However, the channel will sometimes publish a link to an unblurred version that is demonetized and not searchsble.

Did not realize that. What a weird policy. Couldn't they just make videos with blood or tissue inaccessible through parental controls or something? Just personal settings, so people who are interested can watch, but those bothered can just block unedited videos. Online policies are so confusing. I really enjoy watching interesting surgical procedures.
