you should paint these guys on stream! Also, I want to get into warhammer with my friends. they play video games, but are not interested in buying, building, and painting models. Any tips on how to get them into the hobby?

you could bring them into a Warhammer store and get them one of those free space marine models or stormcast eternals. Then they can paint it in the store and see if they like painting miniatures.

Yeah I'm definitely keen to do that! I was going to build them on stream but ended up building them at like 1am and I can't really stream that late as I'll wake the house up. As for getting your friends into it, Inquisitor Snake made some really good points and that could be a really good way to start with them - I've got nothing to add there, it's a good angle! I would also say however you shouldn't feel too much pressure to get your friends into it, my friend group is the same where they play video games (as do I) and I spent quite a few months trying to get them interested and as a result it stopped me diving in for a long time. In the end I joined on my own and met people through playing Warhammer and they've become some of my closest friends in an incredibly short amount of time, they also love Warhammer (obviously) so we have a massive shared interest I would have struggled to get my other friends into. So long story short: You'll meet new people and they will very likely have a similar mindset to you. I'm in the process of starting up my Discord server this week and want to make you and a few others VIPs, would you mind messaging me on Instagram so your message is at the top so I can get you added as one of the first?

Good question - pretty sure it did, I’ve thrown the unused spruce away but I remember choosing the o not have helmets on some, I wasn’t forced into it.

As someone that's just getting into the hobby, does it really matter what weapon you put in their hands or if you put the helmet on or off? What happens if you put the ones with no helmet up front and tell your opponent you're attacking with a weapon that isn't glued to the mini

Great question and sorry I didn't get to this earlier! For the most part it doesn't matter and you should build your model however you like, it's your model at the end of the day. That's especially true with things like helmets etc. One area which some people might find issue with on occasion is what weapon you put in their hands - for example with my Tau Pathfinders you can take 3 rail rifles per squad of 10. I think some people may take issue if I didn't add rail rifles to those 3 models and when playing the game was like "3 of these have rail rifles" but in my experience most people won't care. Maybe more so in a tournament. But for like the Hearthkin Warriors, I don't think people would care if you built them with bolt rifles and said they were plasma, as long as you're consistent.

I often find 500pt games are, I'm going to play my first Votann game next week and only have 750 points (obviously as it's the army set!) and I'm actually excited for a smaller game.
