I play HS since grand tournament, but only started playing it seriously by the old gods expansion (missed lots of days so my gold networth wasnt that good). up till then i would have classic packs waiting for possible legendaries or just any good card, no adventure wings whatsoever, and by gadgetzan i skiped it completely in order to farm gold so i could start the new year (un goro) with good cards right out of the bat - it wasnt easy tho since this was perhaps the darkest era of this game with reno, pirates, dragons and of course jades; no standard package would beat those guys. So, un goro came and of course i still didn't had a good deck (used a mix of elementals and jades for shaman, wasnt too strong but because there were some kind of full interaction between my cards i wouldnt have any problem playing with it, in fact i started growing some liking to cards like kalimos; that card had so many different usages that i wish i could have an action figurine of him or a big poster XD), but with some dust and sacrificing out-of-the-meta legendaries i could craft jade druid, wich got stronger with frozen throne (although skullking geist and exodia mage were strong counters, at least i could outclass many wild decks that existed - and so wild format took the form we know now a days XD). luckly i had some good fortune with packs so i didn't have to craft many cards in order to have an 100% functional deck, specially a tier 1 btw. (just for the record: i had about 60 - 90 packs each expansion from there on) Right now i consider myself a F2P players (only had the 2 welcome bundle wich i got jaraaxus and malygos from) who only plays when im in the mood, yet who sits on a bank with 10k dust and 4,5k gold with a wealthy decklist (lacking warrior and mage decks). Certainly it took some time but now not only i can play wichever deck i want, i can also go for the ladder if i well desire!

I focus on 3 classes and only spend my resources on those, after crafting the essential cards future decks aren’t as expensive because most of the good cards see play in multiple decks, when opening packs I open until I have most of those clases 6 commons, and 6 rares plus a good amount of neutrals, everything else I just dust it and only craft epics and legendaries that I need
@gw12655 жыл бұрын

I've been saving gold for the whole duration of an expansion since KotFT and it's working fantastically. I never invest money in classic packs, always all on a new expansion. I get my classic cards from the brawl packs and I have a very wealthy classic collection. I never play arena tho. I usually open 65-85 packs and I get most of the good cards and craft the cards I don't have and I need
@benhew24835 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! Informative, as always. I spend money on the game, but I am always trying to be the most efficient with my money, so these guides are still very relevant. I found that how/when to buy packs is important but I think that a "dusting strategy" is also very important. I used to always dust extra cards immediately or "bad" legendaries only to find out later that they might get nerfed or become useful in fun or meta defining decks later. The two rules (for dusting) I've found the most helpful are: 1) almost never dust a legendary - cause you might open it again in a pack or it may become useful with a later expansion/shift in the meta and 2) don't dust extra cards until you REALLY need to craft something specific.

I'm arena player for a long time now. I can recommend to start playing arena. In the beginning you will be a little bit tilted and think you are wasting your gold. But after some time with some experience an arena run together with daily quests you will earn enough money to buy at the start of a new expansion a bunch of cards. Currently I am a wild player with a huge collection. And I am near to a f2p player. I only bought stuff like the welcome bundles, which are cheap and totaly worth in my opinion.

@@arnoldasbucys7786 A big part of it is installing heartharena overlay or watching kripparian a lot. So, good luck to you!
@henrikbruening78065 жыл бұрын
@@arnoldasbucys7786 I'm not a big fan of using heartharena. Don't get me wrong, Heartharena is really good to build a good deck but I think as a good arena Player you have to know which is the best choice without a programm. Watching Kripp can help you more cause he explains a bit why he takes a card and his knowledge is really high. But you will get better in arena by just playing like a run per day. Arena is a gamemode with two important asspects. On one hand you have two build a deck. And on the other hand you have to play the deck. And the playing part is much more important than the picking part. In constructive you play every game about the same. You normaly know the cards of the opponents deck and what you have to play each turn. In Arena you need much better predicting and knowledge about the value of your cards.

Personally I don't even spend gold on packs. I just use it to play arena when I can. By making sure to complete my quests I'm always going up on gold. And because I can only spend it in arena, I can play unlimited arena, being at 10.000 gold. Also, i tend to stash packs that I win in brawls or arena, and I open them to reward myself for weekly goals. Maybe some people will say this takes the fun away, but why spend money on a game when you can not only play for free, but also use it to stimulate yourself to hit goals in real life? Those stupid things I hate, like going to the doctor, suddenly become better when I reward myself a pack for doing them. Soo.. why use hearthstone to play hearthstone and why not using it instead to make your whole life sweeter? Everytime I craft a legendary card with my limited arena resources i save some money to travel, and these little habits can really articulate and motivate you throught your sometimes boring routine.

@Retrogamer 420 i'm not super good, I'd say average. it's all about discipline, not about winning. arena, as all things, you can learn by playing it. i know what you mean, I used to lose most of my games when i started. just watched some streamers on twitch ang got a little bit better. you don't need to be a pro to average 4/5 wins. but beside that, if you hate arena as a format, or say you hate risking your gold in general, just login regularly to complete quests and play brawl. you can get a lot of enjoyment in hs without crafting cards. just by appreciating animations, crazy RNG, and stuff like that. sometimes i just randomly play whizzbang decks. and you know what i love more in hs? dungeon run. which is free. when i teach someone hs i let them play dungeon run. a good dungeon run with a beer is endless. infact, if you truly love the game as some streamers show (daneHS really knows how to have fun) sometimes even just watching trailers of new expansion can be a REAL THRILL. Arena of time? Best time EVER. Ultimately, don't blame arena: sometimes you can just get that crazy legendary from weaponized pinada which will make ur day :) , or maybe discover a death knight out of hallucination.. these things happens, and the better you get, the more strategy you get to see in arena ;) - i'm having lot of fun with priest and mass hysteria in arena at the present time, i get to play strategic games and win more than i lose. in the past i specced into warlock, with great results by drafting lifegain. always experiment

I got tons of wild cards. I mostly keep them is simple, though I don't play Wild, but expect some Adventures & Wild Tavern Brawls. For the new players, you can always find a best friend who would help you clear your quests, though it won't reward you with the 3-win 10 gold, unless if you can bear losses in many matches (you can play a few to reach Rank 20 for the goodies) when a best friend can help you from grinding painfully. This tip is meant for the Casual Players, not Ranked.

Few tips from a player since 2013. - I'm keeping all my useful golden cards, disenchant the others which are weak. - Cancel a quest per day! You can have a better quest by changing a 50 gold quest to a 60-80 and sometimes 100. It's not much (but it's honest work), but it makes the difference in the long run. - Do arenas! watch good players like Kripp. You will know which cards are good to draft and counters. You can use Heartharena to help you draft a good deck. And also, you need just to win 3-4 games to have a bonus dust (small) and sometimes 40-50 gold. You will anyway spend this money on a pack and in bonus you will have more knowledge on arena to improve for the next time. The best is to reach 7 wins to win a pack + 150 gold which is OP. - Keep tracking the number of packs you have purchased for each extension. We say that you get a legendary each 40 packs right? You will have an idea if it's worth continuing to spend ressource on an extension. i.e.: if you have 23 packs open you may consider keeping your gold for the next extension or spending on classic set. If you have 39 open packs until now, you might try to buy few more to see if you get a legendary!

I'm an f2p since Old Gods with a decent collection and have achieved legend multiple times in both Wild and Standard. This is my strategy - Patience is the most important factor. - When i first play Hs, i only use basic decks to achieve rank 20, then shift toward cheap decks like Zoolock and Tempo Rogue (2016 ver., not Keleseth). - About packs, i don't usually buy many because i don't have time to farm gold and i don't use real money. - I often start to accumulate gold 1 month before new expansion, so at the expansion's launch, i can buy approximately 35 packs (including freebies), equivalent to 2 or 3 legendaries. Not many. - After the launch, i will wait until the meta settle and craft some high performance legendaries. While doing that, I continue using my old decks with some modified cards to get gold to buy more packs. - I admit, if you follow this method, you will feel irritated when the expansion launch, but i think that's the best f2p can do. By this way. I usually have 3000 dust in my collection, all rares and commons, 60% epics, 30-40% legendaries. That's acceptable because some legendaries and epics are pure bad

Great video as always, but here's a couple things I want to bring up: I don't think it's clear enough when you say "ignore one expansion" that you mean "refrain from buying packs with gold for one expansion," I understood it that way, but others may not. Also, experienced players (and players who want to get better) can always play Arena as part of your rational strategy during the short period between the release of a new set and the meta report. This works because Arena only gives packs from the latest set and you start accumulating resources immediately (or learn more about the game at the cost of gold). The only downside is the time it takes to do an Arena run every day.

Experienced F2P here. I think one important tip is, remember the regular 40 pack pity timer if you're wanting to buy at least that many from a set. That timer is counted per-set and is reset once you get a Legendary, so I feel it's a bit smarter to open from one set exclusively and stop right when you get that Legendary, then consider if you want to go another 'stretch' with that set or move on to another that needs a bit more coverage. I go with a pack a day but it's worth it for fun. Most of the time I can still end up with about 2k gold and some ks of dust so I can get a small jump on that expansion week when the meta is fresh.

My strategy when starting out (Aug 2017) was buying packs of each expansion with gold, as I liked having a variety of cards, and would wait patiently until I opened some commons and rares (Ravaging Ghoul, Chain Gang and Blood Razor come to mind). By Apr 2018 I had 40 or so packs opened from each of the 5 expansions in Mammoth Standard, had been playing cheap decks through much of it, and started buyng pack bundles. Now, I look, I've spent a lot of money, also to round up my Wild collection, but have a lot of dust saved up any time I want to play some control deck. Also I've never spent much gold on Classic packs, just waiting for Tavern Brawl ones, past 100 or so packs I had nearly every card I needed, except for some legs and epics.

I actually went half and half. I spent most of my gold saved up halfway through the expansion through the quest and free arena earnings. I only disenchant duplicates or gold cards under an epic value to get more dust saved, though I have already collected 90% of the Classic set since launch. The only pre-order I bought was the Adventure Solos back in 2016, and the Boomsday Supreme order, yet ignored Rastakhan Rumble because mid-year expansion always has a higher value. I rarely even compete for pass level 20 in rank, because the decks I build are more themed based rather to purely win. It's also best to send feedback to the developers on potential deck builds and give them ideas on what could make the game more unique in the next expansion. Their current theme is always the one that seems lacking on card types or one game-changing card effect. My advice for new players is playing every other day to complete your quest and always finish your Brawls by the end of the week. You'll earn just enough gold to get at least 3-4 to packs that way. Though not every card is worth it, but may become better with the next expansion or nerf.

I save up about 10k gold and 20 classic packs (from tavern brawls/quests) each expansion. I also pre-order the expansions vis amazon coins. So I usually end up with about 170 expansion packs + 20 classic packs each expansion, while spending about £35 each time (about £100 per year). While being clever with dust, this allows me to play basically any decks I want. I can’t play all decks, but the ones I sacrifice are the classes I don’t like anyway.

Since the achievements and stuff rolled out you can't do your quests in the tavern brawl so for classes that I don't have decks for I've been using auto-complete and they get wins in high plat, low diamond, around 40% winrate. They're not bad

get free dust from hall of fame cards: 1. craft them (golden) when announced 2. when they rotate you get your dust back (and keep the card unlike for nerfed cards, where you only get dust if you disenchant them) 3. now you can disenchant them for EXTRA dust

I've always just strived to play on different servers, containing separate collections, and disenchanting the most of collection to craft a meta deck. This way I'm always able to play at least 3 good ladder decks.
@ClanAtlas_Indie_Games5 жыл бұрын
A trick that works well for me, instead of disenchanting cards right away, "pretend" they are already disenchanted but leave them in your collection. Then, when you are absolutely sure you want to create a specific deck, disenchant the necessary cards so you can craft the rest of the cards in your deck all at the same time.

My strategy is: I play Wild. All investitions in Standard are necessarily short term investitions because of rotations. But if you invest in Wild there will be a point, where you only need a few cards of an new expansion, because you can use a lot of strong cards forever, like Ragnaros or Loatheb.
@fabsky5 жыл бұрын
I do Pretty similar the rational strategy. I Buy the Preorder 50 Packs and I have Right now 5700 Gold what I will spend when the new Expansion Comes. Then I wait 3-4 Weeks to the Time where Streamers beginn to recommend Cards and I watch the Stats on HSReplay which (legendary) Cards will be played the most and then I create them with dust. And I will be create more of them in the next Expansion (because this Cards will be in Standard till 2021) then I did it in the current Expansion (because this Cards will be in in Standard till 2020). Same strategy with my second Free to Play account only that I will not by the Preorder and im a Little stingier with creating out of dust.

I know this is a F2P guide, but still, one thing you didn't mention in this video are the special bundles that blizzard sells for a limited time (like the recent new lunar year bundle). When buying packs, the regular 60 pack bundles give you the most packs per $, €, £, ... but these special bundles are even better value. The 60 packs bundle costs me 69.99€, so that's 1,17€/pack The recent new lunar year bundle was 19.99€ for 10 witchwood, 10 boomsday and 10 rastakhan packs, so that's 0.67€/pack That's a huge difference in terms of value. And with the new e-sports bundles announced to support hearthstone e-sports I imagine better value bundles will arrive more frequent. A more patient credit card strategy, one where you only pay for pre-order and limited time offer bundles, can reduce that price of 985$ you listed by a lot. I started during ungoro as a free to play player, but due to lack of a good card collection I lost interest and stopped playing hearthstone for a while, missing the last month or so of Ungoro, the entire time of Knights of the frozen throne and about 2 months of Kobolds and catacombs. And now after allmost a year of playing and paying only for pre-orders and special bundles (during the year of the raven), I can say my collection is about the size of a free to play player that bought 110 packs of each set with gold. I've spend about 300-350€ on this game spread across a year, which is way less then the 985$ mentioned to get about the same collection immediatly.

I use the rational strategy, but I don't play a lot so I usually open just around 30 packs every expansion and I also get rid of all the wild cards. I'm not very good at the game, the standard mode is hard enough for me

F2P player here. Ill keep my gold when they tease about new expansion. They usually reward us with few packs as a kick-start. Then i ll spend my gold to buy more as to comply with the 10 packs guarantee. Leftovers gold will be used once the meta is stable to pick the best set to be purchased. Completing quest everyday grant me a pack a day, sometimes a pack in 2 days. Depends.
@finalfantasy37065 жыл бұрын
You should also point out that Blizzard do bundles almost every month like 40 packs for 24.99$. Do You consider it valuable to buy those ?
@twofeetunder72125 жыл бұрын
If you want your biggest bang for your buck, then yes. Definitely. All I buy in Hearthstone is pre-orders and bundles cuz they have such good value and I have a really good wild collection because of this. I've also bought the adventures which have really good value, specially LoE

They mentioned disenchanting cards that get nerfed for full dust value, but they didn't mention saving some dust for possible Hall of Fame announcements. I have enough dust saved up now to craft a golden legendary + some other cards should I need to craft cards for the Hall of Fame. Blizzard refunds you the full dust of any card they send to the Hall of Fame from your collection, making these cards essentially free to craft as long as you do so before they are officially sent out.

Your rational strategy is the same as mine. Even though I bought pre-orders for the last 5 sets (except Boomsday) and a couple of bundles, I still apply this strategy. And as a Wild player, I pay even more attention to cards that are used alot in Wild. It’s boring sometimes because I always have an urge to try new decks, I have nearly 30,000 dust so it is very tempting :)). What do you think about crafting good epics from a new expansion while you still opening packs from it?
@HearthstoneMathematics5 жыл бұрын
I stopped opening new packs a week after the release. :] You have a really very good bank of dust.
@LirikSnaps5 жыл бұрын
Generally I never disenchant any extra copies. When the nerfs come, I typically disenchant 3-4 of every nerfed card and gain substantially more dust if I didn't. This is especially true about common cards since they are worth 8 times their base dust value (5 base 40 nerf) and you're more likely to have excess copies of them. Typically I play an aggressive deck both because of dust cost (most fast decks cost under 7000)and game efficiency (5 min VS 20 min games makes the grind faster) .

My strat is mostly arena. I have an average winrate of almost 7 in last 3 expansions. Which allows me to open around 150-200 packs per expansion, without investin huge amounts of time. I also start gattering resources by 1-2 months before. But that is because i dont want to craft many decks in the begining of a expansion. Usually 2-3 and gather i'm bored i go to arena. Pro-tip: At the begining of expansion arena is most fun. And if you play seriously you will also get easier to higher wins.
@caleblinna91465 жыл бұрын
When you say gather resources do you mean save gold and then play arena when the new expansion comes out? Or save dust?
@parazitul19865 жыл бұрын
@@caleblinna9146 I gather both dust and gold. I dont usually stop playing arena, just reduce it. Also, when new expansion comes out , i buy packs from all my money, except 500 gold. That is for arena. It kinda is enough because, with daily quests, i win more than lose on a daily basis.

A very good strategy is: preserve a good amount of dust to craft golden cards in case of Hall of fame. It garantee extra dust for you. Think to this april, only baku and Genn gives you 3200 of extra dust if you craft their golden version.

(Long answer. Probably only Bot Mathematician will actually care about this. xD) I'll break how I use/keep my resources in 3 parts: * In terms of spending/saving gold: I usually buy packs until gold about a month after the expansion release. After this moment, I only use gold to enter the Arena (which I, most of the time, can get 4+ wins and break even). After about 2~3 months of the expansion, I start playing less arena as the next expansion gets closer and closer (I do this so I guarantee I keep the all the gold, I'm don't have enough skill to go past 7 wins consistently). * In terms of enchanting cards: I rarely enchat cards. I probably create even less cards than I should. xD But the way I do is: I see the cards I opened in packs and then see the decks there are strong in the meta. I don't try to create necessarily the best cards in the best decks in the meta, I just try to see the decks tier 1~2 that I'm missing just a few cards, 1~2 legendaries and 2~4 epics is near my limit. (Unless the deck seems really fun to play. Sometimes I make exceptions. :v) A problem with that is that most of the time, what dictates the class I'm going to play is not my preference, but the boosters that I open. On the Frozen Throne, for example, I opened BloodReaver Gul'Dan, so I pretty much played only Warlock. But in the same time, I never opened Carnivorous Cube and some other important cards of Cube-Lock, so It was mostly Zoo-Lock, Demon-Lock and similar decks without the Cube. * In terms of cards going to Wild in rotation: I don't disenchant them. I have enough dust so I can keep up with what I spend, so I keep my cards as they go to Wild. The only things I do when rotation comes is: - I enchant any card going to the Hall of Fame, in golden version. (Of course, no charge here.) - I buy packs of the expansions about to rotate until I open the last legendary ever and reset the pity timer. (I've already done this with the 3 expansions about to rotate in April.) - Also, I buy 5 packs of each expansion so I have some "Legacy packs" stored in my collection. I will probably never open these, so it's probably a waste of gold. But I like to have them. :v Those last 2 decisions probably make it so I have less gold than usual on the first expansion of the year. But oh well. It's how I like to play, as both a Standard and Wild player. :P

As a hoarder, I really, REALLY hate to disenchant any cards - even if the cards are bad, I save them in case they get their 15 minutes of fame (normaly on Tavern Braws). I'm a light spender, only purchasing when the deal appeals for me - I instantly bought the Witchwood pre-order for the extra 20 packs, Mecha Jaraxxus was a funny Hero that I enjoy, but Rastakhan felt so lackluster that I skipped all payment options. As for gold and packs, I invest them in Arenas, opening packs in bundles of 10 or less for the guaranteed satisfaction of an Epic. However, I try to save 3k to 5k gold for the next expansion, pre-order or not.. So yeah, a mix of strategies. Veterans pick what suits best to them, right? ^_^
@netawa4 жыл бұрын
Welp.... From the start I just got around 5 packs and just disenchanted them to get some dust. Then I've created mid level elemental shaman and played ladder some time. There was no legendary cards in this deck but somehow I managed to be on 11 rank almost each season. Then I used my new resources and played arena some time. (Of course with checking some guides beforehand) Combining Arena and ladder for now is a simple way to constantly get resources.... And as a result I ended up crafting evolve shaman and enjoying wild ladder. Sometimes I play arena, but well.... Now I can just get resources.

Big tip don't dust extra cards unless u absolutely need to to make a craft and never use the dust all button. When u do dust cards prioritize dusting the extras of crap cards that don't see play especially from older expansions this way u maximize your chances of getting full dust from nerfs. I had 8 copies of emerald spell stone for 800 dust after the last nerf

I just preorder each expansion. Doesn’t seem weird to me to spend 150 a year to play almost any deck I want. I also pile up gold. I understand not everyone can do that, but Warcraft has a monthly fee right? $10 a month? $120? Just doesn’t seem too bad to me if you love the game.
