Holomancer, I think it's not fair. Since the Play a Friend Quest is the important source of gold and you can not predict the receipt of this quest. Without this source you will not be able to get all the cards from the set (without taking into account the Arena). It seems to me that there should be a system in which everything depends on the efforts of the player, and not on third-party factors. :]

If you have the cash flow - spending 50 bucks at the beginning of an expansion is a great option. If you do the math, that's 50 bucks every 4 months, or 41 cents a day. That's cheaper than a daily coffee. It all comes down to the premium one places on their time.

@@HearthstoneMathematics 17 packs doesn't give you 17000 dust, not even 1700 dust, because 1 pack is equal to approximately 40 dust because of the 4 common (which can be disenchanted for 5 dust) 4x5=20 + 1 rare which can be disenchanted for 20 dust. 20+20=40 dust per pack. So 17x40=680 dust in the worst case

I think that they need to change the 3 wins/10 gold to 1 win/10 gold. It is already restricted and I don't see why not? Also, maybe add a bonus gold for the First Win of the day kind of reward? There a need to have some sort of a sense of progression in your collection as you play the game. Average 60 gold per days feels really bad. Maybe follow Overwatch level system or MTGA reward system. Overall, the gold system needs an update.

It took me about 4 years to get a good enough collection to get to legend (also playing odd paladin helped). Once you get all the classic cards you only need to keep up to date with the newest expansion and you only need a couple of those cards for whatever are the tier one decks.

Old video, I know, but should become quite a bit easier now. They will implement a : if you have two copies of a card it wont come out of a pack before you collect all of them thing, so getting duplicates should be quite a bit less common

So you can spend $50 on packs for expansion, play Hearthstone for a stupid number of hours every day, win the maximum 100 gold, complete every daily quest, participate in every event and tavern brawl and obtain every reward it’s possible to obtain...... And all of that STILL doesn’t guarantee you’ll be able to complete a standard collection at any one time, let alone ever getting any wild cards. I’m sorry, but that’s beyond ridiculous.

@@bossle6834 This, especially when you consider that the most expensive part of each set are the epics and many of those end up being super niche or just generally janky and not something most people would ever really use unless they were just curious or messing around. Like just looking at the last set, do you really need Mogu Cultist, Mischief Maker, Body Wrapper, Desert Obelisk, Puzzle Box, Micro Mummy, Plague of Death, Splitting Axe or Bloodsworn Mercenary? Many people would probably be happy skipping even more of them than that but even before doing so you're already saving on 18 epics which means 7,200 dust subtracted from the figure in the video (not to mention the dust gained from disenchanting any of those you might open along the way). I used to spend more on the game but I've switched to doing just the $80 preorder and the discount bundles they do periodically and haven't really noticed an issue in terms of not being able to play any given deck that seems interesting, Honestly the $50 preorder would probably get you nearly as far too, I'm just a sucker for exclusive aesthetic items that I'll never ever use. So obviously not even a remotely F2P experience but for the "paying player" approach I've found that it can actually be very reasonable to keep up. $80 or so every expansion is waaay cheaper than physical CCGs and even for the pure videogamer crowd that's like buying a big budget game every four months, except that instead of never playing them when you're done the content just keeps piling up into one ever-growing game. Considering how many $60 games I've only played for a few hours before forgetting about or how overstuffed my steam account (I swear there are games in there I've somehow never heard of every time I scroll through for something to play) is it's really not that hard to justify continuing to buy into this game. Financially anyway, in terms of balance it's clearly been careening off a cliff for the past two years and could stop being a worthwhile game literally any day now.

You forget creating new accounts and recruit them as friends for free packs. Also logging in on iphone and galaxy etc gives you free packs which can be easily done with an simulator on your pc ;) I even faked the fire gathering hero and cardbacks with an IP changer xD

I have all base cards. I have never spent money in Hearthstone. I play since Naxxramas. All you need is patience and consistency. I am systematically completing daily quests and brawls, using all rewards, pay packs with gold, disenchant gold, almost no arena etc. I'd say it took me a bit more than 2 years.

If you look at their quarterly reports you can find that it costs them around 75 million US to develop and host Hearthstone per quarter. With 7 million players it’d take over 10$ every three months just to break even. If you consider the number of players willing and able to spend money on the game, it’d be far fewer than 7 million. So even if Hearthstone had a healthy million players willing and able to pay, they’d need to be dropping 75$ US every three months, or 25$ per month. Some would love a flat rate fee like this, but most would likely move on, leaving few opponents for the payers to play. Somewhat like what happened to Artifact.

The technical part of the video takes several days (3-5 days). I spend a lot of time on statistics and script. I work every day for 10-14 hours. In general, the work on one video takes from 7 to 14 days. I use the Adobe software package. I really like to do this show, but it's very hard to work without days off. I haven't crunched the numbers on my game play - but I clear all my quests, buy the 50 card discount at expansion, and play at a relatively high level (hit 5 every month), and this gives me enough resources to comfortably get all the cards I need to succeed in a given meta. It's be nice to have a complete set, but it's totally unnecessary. I opened a golden hir'eek the bat the other day, and was vary glad to dust it for something else in the next expansion for exactly this reason.

a bit of advice. If you are lucky to score overtime at your work, and say you make a extra $100 on your pay. Your bills are paid and you are getting by all right. Spend $25 of it on 15 packs, that is what i do every now and then. Been playing for just over 4 years and dropped probably $150 all paid by overtime

They way I use the ten gold for every three wins is to round out my gold count for the day to end my gold total count on either 50 gold and an even hundred, so that my next day's quest will get me to another pack. I don't have a complete collection but I'd call my collection 75% complete with this method. As for my deck I use my entirely underrated Dragon Priest deck in wild when I absolutely need to win games, otherwise I joke around with meme decks in standard.

No, if you just want to keep up you can just use quest and event rewards. You only need about 60 packs per expansion to get a couple decent decks which is easy doing quests everyday. If you want the entire collection (which you absolutely don't need) then you must play 6 hours a day

As a player who has enjoyed playing Hearthstone since the beginning, I don't get hung up on playing for free. Some of the same people who complain about the cost of playing Hearthstone will have no problem paying hundreds of dollars for a 2 hour concert, 2 hour sporting event, spend a ton of money at an amusement or theme park, or eat at expensive restaurants. I have no problem spending actual money on booster packs. Especially since I have an actual job, and can't afford to play for 6 hours a day to get gold. Spending $130 on the upcoming booster packs = hundreds of hours enjoyment playing Hearthstone, so a pretty good bang for my buck - in my opinion.

In 2020 If the new sets have 200 cards in total you will new 400 cards for full colection (even less cuz legendary count just 1 time) In a pack are 5 card...400/5=80 So ~ 80 packs for full colection 80.000 gold

I dunno if you guys accept requests, but I have kind of a challenge. I think it's gonna be really useful information, if you could find some numbers on the topic. Here it is: how would change a personal cost of a 1 card pack from set depending on cards already owned by a user? Assume I have 320/457 classic cards and let's say 0/248 boomsday ones. It's obvious that all 5 cards from from boomsday going to be helpful for my collection (let's neglect odds of getting 3 same cards in one pack) while odds of getting whole 5 cards to be dusted for classic pack are high enough. If we go further down the line, new question arises: from what point should I just craft needed cards and stop buying packs from the set at all, and spend gold (or $) on other sets? I know that answer probably depends on player goals (full set, possibility of having all/1/2 tier 1 decks or other), I can't give you those boundaries, but let's solve from the point of let's say F2P player (I am not F2P, but this kind of content helps, you know, spend less) and his/her possibilities.

I‘m a F2P player and can pretty much play every current meta deck: Conjurers Mage, Control Warrior, Tempo Rogue, Zoolock, Mech Hunter, Token Druid, Wall Priest, Shirvallah Paladin, Barista Warlock etc. I‘ve never spend a cent on the game and can still play most of the meta decks of every expansion. I don’t even play arena and I play around 5 games ranked a day on average. I didn’t even had to dust my dumpster legendarys. I love this channel and your videos, but this video might discourage a lot of players to even try. Still, you guys are awesome!

Haven't spent a single penny on this game. I've played this for about 4 years, and I barely have anything. I usually get things from blizzard's gifts to players, or events. I only have around 10 Goldens and 10 legendaries. 4 years. For 10. FOUR YEARS. I play the game a lot, too.

Same. I only grind to get a lot of gold because I like opening so many packs on a single day. If you’re a normal human being, it’s impossible to grind to 110 packs.

BUUUUUT... 1 Pack = 100 Dust is not true, if the goal is had a complete collection, why? well, it was true before when we get a Legendary dupes, but since this was changed, the Legendary is not more dusted, so, I think this value would be between 35 and 65, but any way 100 Dust for pack. NO WAY! Why? well the dust we get is distribuited like this way: Packs Dust for Pack 1-10 5 11-20 10 21-30 35 31-40 40+ From here is when we dust (almost) all cards So, think is 100 is someway too optimist and nothing to do with the real. The Legendary do not do DUST if we try get a Complete Collection. Greetings!!

Actually, 80g quests are more valuable if you trade them with other players (80 + 80) on hearthstone sites, although it's possible to get scammed

yeah but to be fair if you scam somebody on such websites the mods will blacklist you and you can request the person to show you if they got the quest too. After 2 years only got scammed once. I just wrote to this person |> Im happy you got your 80g you honorless PoS I bet you play Ally in WoW. Funny thing he invited me back and said he is playing on Horde side :D even scammers have some kind of emotions

i suggest they should give more gold overall from quests! its so bad when i have to win 30 games to get 100 gold or even 61 gold average a day lul.... i dont say that they should make it all free if they dont want but they should give you the chance to get the resourses you need to get a full set for example for free.... all my friends when i suggest them HS they say no cause its pay to win... and they are right..!

Since you seem to have examined just the expected value, what is the variance? Obviously, you could be incredibly unlucky and just get a duplicate after duplicate and be forced to do a lot of disenchanting.

if we talk about Standart Collection, whats with the Rotation? I disenchant every wild Card the moment the Rotation happens and i can build many stuff with that. Its a Rare Ressource but it still is one.

How, when a card pack a vast majority of the time only contains , 4 common and 1 rare, or 40 dust, is the average dust per pack being calculated at 100. That assumes atleast an epic every pack, or 1 golden common, 1 rare and 3 commons, and even then that only adds up to 85 dust. 100 per pack is an incredible exagerration

Ohhh, I almost forgot, I have 5 friends that play the game, so we do the very good friend quests, and is great for look up for the 5 rank, is not that difficult, but if you achieve under 10, I think you're a good player in HS.

for any 7+ avg arena player it's quite easy to get all the cards. I would have full collection if only I didn't spend about 100k dust on golden cards.

Still call BS on 100 dust = 1 pack or 100 gold. You have to already have all of the epics for this to be true, which means you would have dumped a lot of resources into getting cards already which devalues the dust even more. It's a false equivelancy from where i'm sitting. You also seem to count quests in twice, as the average of 61g a day includes the 80g Quest, which you then tack on at the end as its own separate category.

In what world are you living, where 17 packs = 1700 dust? You must have at least 1 epic in each pack to achiv that, which is not likely.

I play arena and i get on average 7 wins got all my cards without spending money but the best way is to prepurchase the expension and purchase special offer, play arena if your not good just pratice..easy
