I was the very first investigator contacted by the Sightings Crew in July of 1994 to investigate this building, however it was barely a week after I had shoulder surgery and had to pass on this one. I, instead, suggested to Sightings that they use my research director, Howard Heim to investigate in my place. I have since met and talked with the former owners of the house and recently also investigated this building for the first time in July of 2019. The house was pretty quiet and not as active as it had been in the past or perhaps the entities had either moved on or followed the former owners.

I am a paranormal researcher in Texas. I remember this case very well from back when this show was on the air. I always hoped I could buy this house one day. Anyway, I was just observing Jeff talking about his experience where he saw Sally. I see him displaying some very familiar physical reactions as he relives that story. He's having to take deep breaths because he is experiencing chest pains because the stress is manifesting itself in his chest muscles and he is concerned he could have a heart attack at that point. I know this because I have the same reactions when I try to speak about a traumatic experience from my recent past. I get severe chest pains, it's hard to breath when speaking. Jeff is telling the truth. I can't speak for Peter James or anyone else...but Jeff is telling the truth. It's in his body language.

If you are serious I can give you some suggestions, I'm not a paranormal investigator (I should be I have watched every documentary and show on it) but I am a retired Deacon and here are the things that will help 1) first Do Not Communicate with this thing ! NO Ouija boards or séances (if you have already done that at then you will probably need outside assistance like a Priest) . Prayer and fasting asking God through the Blood and name of Jesus Christ to remove this spirit commanding the spirit (also by the Blood and Holy all powerful name of Jesus Christ) to leave, if you are not a Christian then I would highly suggest revisiting your belief system - this may be Gods way of convincing you. People will say oh that's stupid and will discourage God and especially Jesus as the answer this is where Faith is key remember God is the creator of the universe nothing is more powerful so the key is your belief. Some would say burning Sage like on TV and that will work for a week maybe a few days but it will come back. Religious relics throughout the house - Crosses , Bibles , Prayers etc. . Also be firm fear and negative emotions makes it stronger forgiving one another and supporting one another weakens it, Love casts out Fear ! Let it know this is your home! You revoke any invitations whether made by you someone else whether on purpose or by accident. Find a Church to help you though that is hard if you are not a member of one but again if you ask God and rely on Him he will make a way. Listen if you don't believe in God tell Him (He knows already) ask Him to show you He is real and that if He delivers you then you will believe and follow Him but keep any oaths that you make. Do not let anyone come in and say we use Ouija boards séances tarot cards , dosing rods etc. that's witchcraft , investigators will just come in to see ghost activity to fulfill there needs not your interests but if you find a group who promises they van clear the house ask them - How they do that? people lie. That's it no matter the problem Gods usually the solution. Take care. david

I have lived in Atchison my whole life and my mom and her 5 brothers grew up in this house. They were never physically harmed but its said only older males are the ones who get scratched. If I remember right MC Finney was the name of the doctor who didn't or couldn't save Sally from dying. I heard he had allegedly raped her too. Two of his descendants died in the house as well with an elder lady falling or being pushed down the stairs. My mom told us about the things that went out that you could attribute to a spirit but they couldn't move because of their financial situation with her mom being divorced and having 6 kids. I walk by the house all the time on my way to the Benedictine College campus and sometimes I get a little bit of an uneasy feeling, a part of me wants to go in and check it out sometime but also a part of me doesn't haha

+Kelsey McLin Sadly I haven't! I worked with the guy who does the haunted trolley rides so I know most of the history behind a lot of the alleged haunted houses here. I'm sure some are true and others are false lol I haven't had a spiritual encounter that I can remember but my ex girlfriend has been able to communicate with ghosts her whole life and grew up in a house where she would see 2 young children and they would communicate with her. I remember one of them had died in a fire I can't remember the story about the other but she said their names checked out with public records so that's creepy! Lol I have been rebting out apartment while I'm going to college here and I'm hoping I don't ever get in one that is haunted! I'm always afraid of that haha last night was my first night in the new one I'm in this year and I was definitely on edge before I could fall asleep because of a storm and noises lol I watch so many ghost shows I get paranoid I am going to get haunted haha

+Logan Elias Thanks for your comment, I read it with interest. This is what I got from studying the video. 1. The Doctor's name was Charles C Finney (Not MC Finney) according to the directory (14:16) and he is shown to have moved out of the house in 1906. 2. The three newspaper clippings about Finney deaths in the house partially show the names (?) C Finney, Charles (M?) Finney former physician, then one about Mrs Kate Finney dying in her home. 3. They then list the deaths as MC Finney d.1857, James Finney d.1900 and Kate Finney d.1918. Confusing, and they never explain why they refer to the first one as MC Finney, or who was nor explain why they show the clippings for Charles' death when they talk about James. I don't think this part of the research was done very well, for the video. However, MC Finney was apparently dead long before Sallie was born. It was Charles who was the surgeon, and lived there at the time.

+Death'sHead The story as I've heard/read of it for years was *not* that "Sallie" lived there, but that she was rushed to the place - Dr. Finney's home - by her mother. She supposedly had appendicitis. He proceeded to operate on her, but (incompetent and perhaps inebriated?) dropped & broke his only vial of anesthesia, then botched the surgery. She allegedly died in agony (per, of course, no anesthesia) & hating this man who she believed had intentionally tortured her, and, thereafter, all men.

I was surrounded by an entity that was like being engulfed in very staticlly charged I'm talking crackling air snapping. I didn't see anything. But i did hear something following us. It was me and my boyfriend taking a walk on a hill in my hometown. So it wasn't static from being inside a building. I got the strong feeling that it was a woman. I just watched the Paranormal Witness story of this..that show said no one has lived in that house to this day...but Sightings said new tenants are moving in (and that was in '92). I've researched a few past Paranormal Witness stories & I came to the conclusion that P.W. set out to scare ya or try hard to, even if it stretches the truth just for scare reasons. This program here tells ya more than P.W. did, plus it's more of a real story, rather than something just to spook the living daylights out of you. P.W. has some truth to its stories, but more often it'll put in scary fictional elements just to scare ya even more. Not to say this isn't scary, it still scared me, but there's no winged she-monster choking Jeff on his bed, no mentioning of it. That part of P.W. was just to put more scary elements in, something P.W., and most, if not all, of the ghostly shows are good at.

+Sean Magan I lost all respect for shows like Paranormal Witness and A Haunting, and the former was ironically for it's account of Sallies House in 'The Harpy'. What PW did was take the story and turn it into a cautionary tale for US protestants rather then lay all the information given by witnesses on the table. They made out the child ghost was in fact a demon the whole time while A Haunting (during it's better run) noted that the house was haunted by a few ghosts including a child and a malevolent spirit. That said A haunting handled this case no better, I recall them showing the psychic telling the husband taking a photo of the stairs and in the show he captures a little girl with a demons face, the actual photo shows a mist on the stairs.

I have been doing research into this house but the sallie they claim was the one haunting the house was 33 years old when she died and the only sallie I could find that wasn’t too old and died around the early 1900’s was Sallie Swenson who was 11 to 12 years old at the time of her death

Love this story. I think its funny that sightings wasnt very good at keeping "Jeff's" aka Tonys identity secret. They call him Jeff and every once in a while you hear them call him Tony lol. Just thought that was funny. Glad this family got away!!

I think Tony has psychic ability but does not know it or has chosen not to trust this ability (Not surprising since we are taught from day 1 that its all bullcrap) .Spirits can see that by the light that emanates from your soul,and the sally spirit is just frustrated because she wants to communicate something she feels wronged by as this is the reason she has not moved on to the light.
