The message about not forcing people into relationships does apply to kids. As a teacher I deal with this from students, and the younger they are the worse it can be. They frequently pair up single teachers with others, or give 'helpful' advice. One student told a co-worker that he found the perfect future husband for her; the only problem was the guy was already married, but it was okay because she was "nicer then his current wife". So when I saw this episode I had a good laugh since I can relate to Cheerilee's situation, like Sweetie Belle's unintentional backhanded compliment. Thanks for another entertaining and enjoyable analysis/review!

I hate the punishment scene here. The CMC saw that something was amiss, figured out what was wrong, thought about how to fix it, formulated a plan and then worked extremely hard to execute it. I think they should be commended for taking responsibility without any adult telling them to. 10:04 A theory: What if Twilight was reading a history book about H&H day and not a potion book? It would make more sense for her to study on the history of the holiday because it matches her character and she doesn't seem to be so into finding a relationship that she looks for a love potion. If she was desperately looking for a love potion, her happily giving the book would make no sense because she needs it. Plus if it was a history books she might assume, "Oh maybe they're interested in learning about the history of H&H day too, why not share it?" The way she said it it sounds like she was stating a historical fact rather than reading a recipe. *TL:DR* I think Twilight gave them a history book that just happened to have a recipe for love potion/poison in it, it makes her actions make more sense.

I view this episode as a cautionary tale for me. Big Mac is a character I manage to have a lot in common with (minus the obvious fact that he's a horse and that my parents are alive.). Though it was more of Sweetie Belle's idea than Apple Bloom's, I'm still lumping her into it by association. An additional lesson for me is to keep a much closer eye on my youngest sister because since Big Mac's entire character is turning into a self-fulfilling prophecy for me, chances are she'll probably decide to play matchmaker and set up a blind date with a woman my age who happens to be a teacher or is pursuing a career in teaching. I personally have no problem with shipping (and I'm not just talking about MLP.). As long as the couple (and I mean an ACTUAL couple, none of that Big Mac and Smarty Pants crap.) in question actually has some legitimate hints in canon to back it up (or in the case of Button Mash and Sweetie Belle... for now at least, fanon that doesn't involve clopfics.), I'm okay with it. Hell, I'm guilty of this kind of thing myself. SoarinDash and CheesePie are pairings I actually like. I'll consider the Flash and Twilight pairing if Flashykins can actually live up to my Sailor Moon analogy for him being Tuxedo Mask. Until then, I still have The Order and What Hath Joined Together. Fluttercord and FlutterMac are popular ships I don't seem to understand. Is it so hard for other people besides me to see Fluttershy and Discord's relationship as an eccentric old man finding the daughter he never had? Am I the only one alone on that? As for FlutterMac, aside from that fanmade love song I like by Joaftheloaf and Feather, is there something I'm missing? What actual evidence is there to support them as a couple? Mostly for shits and giggles, I support the pairing of Hayseed Turniptruck and Rarity because I think it would be funny and cute if Rarity's coltfriend was a character who's pretty much her exact opposite.

SonicChaos15 I'm not. After Party of One made Pinkamena a thing, plus Cupcakes coming out, I knew for a fact that this would get out of hand REAL fast, even if it's not all bad. I stay away from FiMFiction more so for retaining purity of the show, in my opinion, instead of being so consumed by fanfiction stories that the real show seems like a fan made work by comparison. I'm not saying EVERYONE becomes like that, I'm just saying _I_ don't want to become like that.

I did. I met them at BronyCon 2014 at the Pony Karaoke event . Although, when I asked Eliyora for an autograph, she pretty much said "Um, sure." I was really confused at that. I was kinda worried that she didn't like me. But I did get to take a selfie with ToonKritick.

8:49 This is what I love about Cheerilee. Funny thing, the Cheerilee library scene's the only scene I've seen from the first Equestria Girls (wordplay unintended), and while some may think that Cheerilee was acting out of character, I just think this aspect of her personality is a bigger part of her character there. And all the better for it; while I refuse to watch the movie as a whole, Cheerilee made me love that scene.

When Josh said he thought this was calling out shippers I don't really see that; it seems to just say 'don't force relationships' thought with the CMC picking out who to pair up Cherilee I see how you could make that assumption. (*straps on combat helmet*) Also when Voice mentioned Big Mac/ Ms. Smartypants I honestly wasn't surprised; not because I have no faith in the Brony community (though there are times...) because it could be realistic: you have a world where you can cast a spell to make loads of ponies obsessed over a toy (or turn a frog into an orange), and if we remember when Twi 'reversed the spell' Big Mac still grabbed the doll, maybe the spell still had some hold, it wouldn't be the first time Twi f*yay*ed up, and again: MAGICAL TRANSFORMATION IS COMMONPLACE. (ugh.. t much caps) Thought yeah sometimes shippers are just nuts, I should know... I was once one of them...
