This is cute but, I'm a little bit confused. Did Charlie actually move away from Truham? Or is this just a metaphor since the graphic novels were coming back?

I believe it is set in the future, as it says that Charlie's coming from uni, not school. It must take place even years after Nick and Charlie the novel, because in that book Charlie was finishing his junior year equivalent and still had to spend his final year of high school at Truham and Nick was just going to start university.
