And it is the reason i chose that mask to be tattoed in me, in a homage to that, to the feeling i was going through, and managed to not do it. "It never stops you can't be everything to everyone Contagion, I'm sittin' at be side of Satan What do you want from me? They never told me the failure I was meant to be, yea Overdo it don't tell me you blew it Stop your bitchin' and fight your way through it I'm not like you, I just fuck up"

Sending someone into that song with no clue is just plain wrong. So many people request this song from people who've never even heard of Korn and that's just mean

This is great! I ended up here because of watching videos on their new drummer, and this hit me like a brick. I'm from Brazil, and 20 years ago when my therapist asked what I listen to and I showed her this song, all I got was a worried face and some notes on the pad. Neither of us understood much of the lyrics and much less the meaning of it, which is a whole other phenomena on itself. I did eventually manage to survive my teen years by "stop your bitching and fight your way through it", without realizing it was part of this song. But this reading you did would have been much more helpful at the time. Good job!

A few years ago my bucket that held my shit overflowed and I had some significant issues. I was lucky enough that my department noticed and gave a shit. I went to a critical incident debriefing school and spend three days crying about shit that I hadn’t dealt with. I had NO idea. I do my best to teach the new people to talk about the shit they’re dealing with to people that they trust. Unfortunately, I completely agree with Corey here. People do indeed equal shit.

Everybody else just would see the hate but you see whats behind this wall. But..."stop your bitchin and fight your way through it" thats the point where i think you get it wrong - "im not like you, im just fuck up, come mofo everybody has to die" and before "It never stops, you can't be everything to everyone". So i think its his way to say "most People will always hate you, doesnt matter what you do, so fck it, stop your bitchin (beeing anything for anybody) and fight your way through it, connection - no connection, fck off, we all have to die anyway"

When I was a teenager I got in trouble and had to go to counseling by court order. My counselor read the lyrics to I Am Hated by Slipknot and immediately tried to blame Slipknot for all of my trouble and I flat out said no that’s stupid, my problems stem from a terrible home life where I had to deal with drugs and alcohol and abandonment where I lived with people who hate me and went to a school where teachers hate me because my older brother was a POS to them. Slipknot had nothing to do with it. It made me feel BETTER.

Slipknot was there for me when it felt like nobody else was. Corey’s lyrics had a way of describing EXACTLY how I managed to feel, and the energy and anger of the music was a way for me to vent how I was feeling inside. People talk about how dark their lyrics are, and they are. But on the same coin, they also talk about how to fight through the pain and to come out on the other side. And when you do, you’ll be stronger, and you will have grown. Metal is about positively venting your anger and energy, and turning it into something positive. Metal shows are fun. There’s camaraderie there.
