When our NOW 20 SOMETHING Grandchildren were a lot younger they would all come over to Papaw and Mamaws to decorate Gingerbread Girls and Boys, I had everything prepared including a vinyl table cloth disposal for easy clean up. 8 of our Grandchildren had a blast and still talk about those great memories. Now next weekend our 2 Grandchildren who live near by ages 7 and 8 will come over for their time with Papaw and MeeMaw (each Grandchild has a unique name for me lol 😆) we are going to decorate Gingerbread girls and boys ❤

Several years ago when our kids were smaller my husband had to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day … they had to wait all day to open their gifts ..I knew how hard waiting on him would be so that was the year we began our Christmas Eve gift opening .. they each get a box with new pjs, a snuggly surprise, a specialty popcorn, and a movie .. we also started baking together Christmas Eve to help pass the time .. I thought as they got older and became teenagers they wouldn’t want to continue those but they still love both !!! We try new recipes each year .

I'm not a big frosting person. I do like icing though. I prefer my cup cake, cakes and brownies without frosting. I do love ginger bread cookies. Great job. My Mom wasn't much of a baker. But my Grandmother was an amazing cook in general. I loved doing these with her before she passed.

Good job Ladies! Quite enjoyed the week of baking and sharing of your time honored traditions. Great job on the decorating..the kidos did a great job! Quite impressed. A very talented group of individuals! I make gingerbread, but sure don't decorate like this. Annie, I picked up about 3 cups of pecans for a couple slices I make, cost me 34.00 CDN or 27 USD....like I said earlier, expensive...but its Christmas!

These are gorgeous. I especially like the pretty snowflakes and that cool man with a bow tie. I just remembered that I bought new cookie cutters months ago and haven't used them yet. When we have enough cut outs then we make Peppernuts with the last bits. Like little dice sized cubes and bake. Great for those strange visitors that don't like icing 🙃 and a tasty bite size with coffee. Thank you for a great week of recipes 🤩
