I’m not going to get my hopes up though on that song getting reacted to though. It didn’t have the plays like the rest of their hits did so it’s going to be hard to justify to react to. But if you’re a straight up rock lover that loves to hear banging rock music this is a pinnacle song. So Andy and Alex this is their song if you want to hear something that makes you wanna drive 140 miles an hour.

The reference to 82 was not actually the year. The song was likely recorded in 1981, but I'm not certain. 82 was actually a discotheque. Later the group played up the 82 angle and would say the actual current year, but that was not their original intention. Personally, I always thought it referenced the year.

Asia are an English rock supergroup formed in London in 1981. The most commercially successful lineup was its original, which consisted of four members of different progressive rock bands who had enjoyed great success in the 1970s: lead vocalist and bassist John Wetton (King Crimson, Uriah Heep and U.K.), guitarist Steve Howe (Yes), keyboardist Geoff Downes (Yes and the Buggles) and drummer Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer).

Everyone has heard the term "one hit wonder," but this group was more like a "one album wonder." This album was a Monster and had several hits (all really good songs that hold up...well, maybe not the "and now you find yourself in '82" line, but still...) Anywho, they never quite matched that success. Their second album had some ok songs, plus one of the most heartwrenching music videos of all time (still surprised it was made since it was released with the album but wasn't really a single.) This and several other of their songs are in my "kitchen sink" playlist that has pretty much every song I love, lol! Thanks for giving another 80s band a chance! RIP lead singer John Wetton.

This song really feels to me like a wall with a whole bunch of doors and all of a sudden one opens and does a thing then another opens and does its thing as the former door wanes and slowly closes, on and on until all have been introduced. It creates a very cool build and pushes through some beautiful changes. I really like the drumming on this song. Supergroups bring such interesting fusions to music. In earlier days, I always thought it was interesting how the big names moved from group to group. Eric Clapton is one who comes to mind and how his personal evolvement seemed to develop the mood of the bands. Stephen Stills and Neil Young are two others and even Steve Winwood, Phil Collins and Steve Winwood. They all ebbed and flowed like thick oil flowing over hot rocks and into the cold sea. Its form or physical structure changed but it never stoped being oil.
