Love this guys! Recently commented on one of Joe’s videos saying that I really hope we see some reaction videos at the end of the season to your pre season predictions. Always some of the funniest videos every year and would involve less prep for you guys as well which should be helpful I’m sure! There’s a 1-20, SV predictions and EFD predictions at least and then there’s more videos where ye predicted how successful certain transfers etc would be so would be great to see ye go through some of those again at the end of the season! Keep up the great work, love seeing the 3 of ye doing shoots together 👍🏻

I understand Dougies rationale. Like if you are rating transfers you have to take the business into account. It’s no slight to the more expensive players but like finding a player who can score you 20 goals or more for anything less than 70 million in today’s market is an absolute steal and is credit to football business and scouting.

I personally disagree with Dougie. I think that while value for money is important, for the best clubs in the world signing the best players possible is way more important. If you are a Real Madrid, Man City, etc would you sign a 100m jude bellingham or a 30m Mac Allister? We can easily say that Mac Allister is the "better" signing because his value is more worth it, but for these clubs value of money isn't as important as signing players that can potentially change your season to a league contender to potentially a treble winner. So while yes, value is important, context is important and thus I argue that players like Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice deserve higher spots.

There are two ways of doing this list and I think that's where the disagreement comes from. One way is "Would you rather sign Bellingham for €103 million or Openda for €38.5 million?" and I think most teams/people would pick Bellingham for €103 million. The other way is "What is a more impressive signing? Bellingham for €103 million or Openda for €38.5 million?", where I think anyone could see that Bellingham for that price was a great deal, but Leipzig deserve more credit for taking the risk of signing Openda. You also have to decide how much you're going to value this season, compared to the signing as a whole when their careers are all said and done. For this season only, Xhaka for free has been better for Leverkusen than Micky van de Ven has been for Tottenham, but personally I'd rather have Van de Ven for €40 million, because he's going to be one of the best CBs in the world for years to come.

Some of you lot need to stop being hipsters with your picks. If it's a good signing, it's a good signing. Rice and Kane are clearly good signings and should be on every list. Bellingham has basically secured the league for Real Madrid in the first half of the season, he was amazing in the Super Copa final, amazing in the Champions League. A 20 year old midfielder in his debut season for Real Madrid will never do more than Jude has done. Literally broke some of CR7's goalscoring records. Favourite for the ballon d'or. Worth 3 times the amount they paid. But he's "8th". Just because he's 100 mil, shouldn't make the signing lower rated. That's the signings top clubs need to make. And according to the title, loans shouldn't count. A loan is literally not a signing.

Dougie's logic of value for money is bs. Bellingham has close to 30g/a, is going to be a league winner, is in a ucl and might win that also win that. Rice similarly has made arsenal better defensively and attacking wise and they are rn again in a title run with 4 games left. He pciked Kane at 9 also which is stupid given he has done everything possible on an individual level and might still win the ucl. And like Joe and McCubbin reasoned, a bigger price tag is more expectations and more downside of being labelled a flop than somebody being signed for 20-30M and them performing, coz expectations are not that high to begin with

I get so bored of talking about how much a player was bought for. It makes no difference whether that player should perform at a high level or not. Its not the player's fault that one club values a player 100 mil and another club pays that. We seem to throw all logical thinking out the window immediately if they are expensive. The money paid for a player has ZERO impact on how that player should perform. We expect a player like mudryk to come in from the Ukrainian league and hit the ground running in the prem just because he was expensive. Instead of actually looking at a player who cost a lot but saying well, he is actually only 20,21 years old playing in a country hes not used to at a level hes not used to? The money should never come into consideration when talking about how good players are.

Lately you just make episodes when you desperately try to show off your knowledge and nonsensical criteria while making choices.

so according to Dougie's logic: you shouldn't really be praised for free transfer because they aren't risky. also according to him: If you spend 100 mil on worldbreakers like Rice, Kane or Jude, these signings can't be best of the year cause why are you paying the market value for extremely good players?!? (cringe) I guess good signings are when you buy nonames from mid table teams for around 30 mil and they play slightly above expectations. thank God Joe and Michael where here to save the vid
@ventricity8 ай бұрын
transfer fee is a hughe factor, to say otherwise you can just have a list of the best players and not consider money spent. money spent is the number one correlation of success in football. paying 100m for a player is insane and you should expect amazing thngs. Rice, Kane and Bellinham have maybe performed above expectations, but not in terms of transfer fee in my opinion.

@vioreldw79008 ай бұрын
Of course you should take the fee into consideration. my problem is that aparently you can't be signing of the season if the club paid 100 mil for you. or at least top 3. I'd still put grimaldo as no1, but damn the standard is high for jude. he went for exactly the price that any club would've bought him for. and while last summer it seemed exagerated to pay 100 mil, the dude won la liga almost by himself with all the goals in the first half of the season. Dougie mentioned the risk factor involved in his rating and then he goes and puts the safest transfer of the window on no1
