No, Heath Ledger played some guy referred to as the Joker- and he never even refers to himself as such. Behavior wise he isn't even close to the classic Joker at all. He's not deranged at all, he's just VERY sociopathic. The best representation we've had in live action of Joker as the Joker is probably Nicholson's take-he's the only one of the three that genuinely seems to be having fun, and the Joker definitely has fun. It's just that his definition of "fun" isn't very in line with the rest of humanity. Revenge isn't even his focus, per se; he gets that out of the way very fast. The attempt to gas the entire city is motivated by something else- basically his form of a "joke". Now, not limiting the scope to live action, the best Joker as Joker we've had PERIOD is Mark Hamill's, by a long shot.

Heath Ledgers Joker is more like a fantasy about a psychopath. Joaquins Joker (after he stopped with medication) is what a real psychopath would act like. Slower, thoughtful but also incredibly confident. At least that's my opinion.
@TheTriggaTv
@TheTriggaTv 4 жыл бұрын
Well that's quite obvious. Joaquin is doing an origin story, which most definitely can't show urgency because he has to develop into joker. Heath is already joker when the movie starts, so there isn't development, but only amplification of the characteristics, showing urgency.

Heath's is charming, manipulative, and terrifying. Larger than life. He captures your thoughts with every word he says. He's a better villain. Keeps you inside his brain while Phoenix's keeps you out and observing (not just watching). Phoenix's is sympathetic, weird, and off beat. His performance stabs you where it hurts emotionally. It asks the hard questions. He's a better perspective since Heath's thrive in mysteriousness. He makes you feel bad in all the ways. Both are a perfect fit in their own interpretation of Gotham and its society.

Joaquin's performance as Joker was... incredibly relatable, in a bizarre way. I'm mentally ill in different ways from the character he portrayed, but the overarching feelings and shit behind the character hit so close to home. I was crying at some parts and cheering at others. Chava I think a good reason for why the dialogue sounds so simplistic and the supporting characters of the film seem one-dimensional is for the reason that most of the movie takes place inside Arthur Fleck’s head. It’s all told through his perspective and it’s just his version of how things’ve happened. When he’s at that insane asylum he’s reflecting back on what’s happened before.

The real difference between the movies for me is this: Heath Ledger's Joker is absolutely great, and it fits the Nolan Batman trilogy perfectly. But do I think that any of the events of the Dark Knight are something that could happen in real life? Not really. Even if their performances are amazing, I never once get the feeling that this is realistic. The new Joker however is unsettling precisely because of the fact that all of it is plausible, which actually is a big part of what makes the narrative terrifying. Just mix some mental illness together with an atomized anti-social culture that doesn't care, and the result is that you get people who will laugh maniacally while they shoot you in the head.

I agree. While The Dark Knight was really good with a interesting story and compelling narrative, and of course Heath Ledger's performance was amazing, it's not something you can relate to. Well, you definitely can't relate to a deranged, mental-ill criminal as the Joker is depicted. That being said, I think Joaquin Phoenix's Joker was much more realistic, a story you could see on the news perhaps, and much more relatable than Heath Ledger's Joker, you actually understood Arthur in some way. I think Joaquin Phoenix's Joker takes the cake for me because I love when movies add a touch of realism with creativity, but I still have big respect for Heath Ledger's Joker, and I am not saying that his performance was any better or worse than Joaquin Phoenix.

The Dark Knight is a brilliantly written and acted out story. But Joker is a character study, a commentary of society, the portrayal is not only realistic, it's absolutely plausible and that's what makes it so gripping - and so captivating for me. @@puffy_jr7521 Black panther is one of the most overrated and worst films in MCU, along with Captain marvel, Guardians of Galaxy 1&2, Spiderman Homecoming, Spiderman Far from Home, and Avengers Endgame. The only selling point was all-black cast. It is easy to bait stupid mainstream "woke" audience with political correctness elements. The story is plain ripoff Lion King, which was also ripoff Japanese animation. Ulysses klaue was good villain, but main villain was very boring, bland and forgettable. And his excuse is very stupid.

Your review was a little underwhelming. I felt that both performances are amazing. You also missed out on the cultural implications and sign of the times because JOKER the character in general and the film is a masterpiece commentary on humanity and the decline. While it does take place in a comic book setting it has real-world implications that speak to mental illness, compassion and wealth/greed cutting funding for real help. I think when it comes to the Six major Joker portrayals, they can all be summarized in a single sentence or a couple. Romero is the trickster, clown like Joker. He’s enjoys silly pranks and fun. Nicholson is the mafia-gangster joker. Hamill is the Joker fully formed. Depending on where he appears, whether it be in the animated universe or a video game, he embodies every interpretation in some form or another, giving off a character defining performance. Ledger is the 21st Century’s Joker, or at least the early 2000’s interpretation. He embodies much of the nihilism and terror that existed in a post 9/11 world, but he does it in a way that is poetic, timeless, and terrifying. Leto is kind of the edgy, hot topic joker. While this might be in due part because of studio interference, his joker is much like that of a teenage boy’s idea of the joker. Phoenix’s Joker is more tragic and disturbing. While being a Joker we can sympathize with more, he is also deeply disconnected and could erupt at any moment.

You see, the core of the issue is the age difference/demographic. If they remade Harry Potter/Star wars and it was super good, the people who watched the original films (us) will be biased because of nostalgia, and will most likely be swayed towards the original films instead of the remakes. The Joker Ledger created is made for a movie like The Dark Knight. It wouldn’t work for a a lead in a full movie. Ledgers Joker is like a 3D looking object on an actual two-dimensional canvas (action movie). There isn’t more to the character than what you saw, but Ledger masterfully made it feel like there is. Phoenix’ Joker looks 3D and turns out to be 4D or 5D. There is SO much depth and humanity which in turn amplifies the darkness.

I just like how NO ONE is saying if one is better than the other. It’s honestly just because you can’t really compare the two because they are so different with everything except for the makeup and name. 😂 both are equally as good, the character and the actor whom played them lol ok from recently just watching both of the jokers right after each other.... i retract all of my statements and believe heath’s joker is the fuckin best. imagine if he had his own little movie of him causing terror in gotham. it would have honestly been the best. 🗿
