This is one of the best videos I’ve seen about how to handle cutthroat trout. So many people should watch this.

Thank you, thank you, for one of those too-rare videos that get at the essence of the sport and why we fish. Thank you for showing us the etherial intimacy of an unspoiled wild trout stream,. Thank you for taking such great care to handle the fish properly, taking great care to lift them out of the water only minimally if at all, and revive and release them able to swim off strong and robust. I apprerciate your respect for the inner experience of fly fishing for trout and what it gives us, and for the resources that makes it possible. I wish that your reverential respect for the resources were more widespread.

Hello Heather, Thankyou for posting your fly fishing footage. I so enoy watching a lady who can fly cast and enjoy what she is doing. I sense your enjoyment and satisfaction in what you are doing. Also nice to read the comments of other ladies, who are living and enjoying every moment with you. Being from the UK, my pinnacle is fishing the Llyn's, (Lakes) of North Wales. I love it there. The scenery and countryside, just nothing like it. I'm fifty two now. Life changed a few years ago, through bereavement and personal illness, and trying to get back on track, to hooefully enjoy those wonderful experiences again. I wish you love and health, and to able to continue doing what you obviously enjoy and excell at. Take care. Best wishes, Ian.

Nice profile! Peaceful setting! I liked the way she handles the fish with respect after bringing it to the net. No holding the fish up out of the water and sticking it in the camera. Great philosophical approach to fly fishing.

Rarely do I relate to a video so much. I'm a nurse in a busy combined ICU (med/surg/neuro/trauma). Gotta take care of yourself so you can take care of others. Fly fishing is my escape and release as well. Few things in life as enjoyable as a day spent in the high country casting a line, a lot of fish to hand or not. Spent yesterday at 11 mile canyon throwing big terrestrials, had an absolute blast. Recharges the batteries.

Lovely video, well made and I love the sentiment. In England it took me two days to catch my first fish on the fly. A wild brown on a nymph. I had a teacher and he taught me where to fish and how to strip the line. That was my advantage. Dry flies remain a difficult technique for me because of our rivers and layout. You guys have such amazing territory to venture into. I can't wait to get my ass over there and fish it. Thanks for the journey and bravo for your persistence.

I am a big fan of Heather Hodson as I too am a die hard fly fisherman and an ER/ICU RN. Its the only thing in my life that helps rid of the day to day loss that comes with the job. Would love to cross paths with you on a river one day Heather. Regards Steve Latham

@VixenAurora5 жыл бұрын
Nope. I used to go fishing every summer. I caught and ate lots of fish over the years. But then I realized that I didn't need animal products to live, and I was hurting sentient beings unnecessarily for my mere pleasure, and so my actions didn't align with my beliefs that unnecessary harm to others is wrong. I disliked this video because it is wrong to treat others like this.
@NotTheMedicH605 жыл бұрын
@@VixenAurora Well that's one very simple minded view point.
@HaZadeur15 жыл бұрын
@@VixenAurora The lack animal protein in your food shows already... it made you a miserable person. vegan /ˈviːɡ(ə)n/ a person who does not eat or kill animals; but also... doesnt mind if you die of boredom while they tell you about it.
@VixenAurora5 жыл бұрын
@@NotTheMedicH60 You think not wanting to harm animals unnecessarily is "simple-minded"? Care to elaborate?
@VixenAurora5 жыл бұрын
@@HaZadeur1 Animal protein isn't an essential nutrient. Only protein is. Fortunately, plant protein isn't linked to all the diseases that animal protein is. For example, plant protein doesn't leach calcium from the bones like animal protein does. You clearly don't know me, as I am the opposite of miserable. Known as the person who never stops smiling. Just because I care about others and don't like when they're harmed for others' pleasure, it does not mean I'm a miserable person. Are you against any kind of harm to others? Dog fighting? Cat torture? Child abuse? Drinking and driving? Does it make you a miserable person to want to be kind to others around you and not harm them for fun?

Robbie Sellers I have had my best luck with a two fly setup of a big dry in front and a purple Haze tied on behind it, and fished through big, deep holes. I have also caught a huge cutt by drifting an elk hair Caddis under a bridge or by an undercutting bank. In the summer, there isn't much need to use nymphs for Cutthroat, so you can only use those dry fly setups if you want. That's what works best for me anyway.
