I married the man that I had dreamed about. However, it was a bad dream. I married him anyway. It took 26 years to get out of the worst relationship of my life. But, I still thank God that I am still alive and able to tell my testimony. WAIT ON THE LORD! DON"T SETTLE FOR WHAT IS WORST FOR YOU WHEN GOD KNOWS WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU!
@user-cl6uj5bn2f3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this. I share this mindset. Those in Christian circles that perpetuate the myth that you must be married and have a family at a certain age cause so much harm to the community of Christian women. Furthermore it's not biblical. "There's a time and place for everything under the sun" and God calls people to different seasons at different times. God Bless you.

@@patb-d2264 Update: It has been four years since I posted this testimony. I was still in the healing stages of coming out of Egypt during that time. However, God healed me and taught me how to love and respect my "ex-husband" for the sake of our children; and for the sake of my walk with God. Unfortunately, my ex-husband passed away in November of this year. We parted as friends, and he left me in charge of his entire estate. I am so grateful for the healing that we both experience, and I will never regret the lessons that I've learned about waiting on God.

msadamsdesigns Believe me it is definitely worth it. Once I got revelation of the scripture that tells God will give us the desires of our heart IF WE DELIGHT OURSELVES IN HIM, it gave me so much freedom. Many people think that means God will give you whatever you want. But He helped me to understand that through the process of delighting myself in him, the desires I have in my heart are there because He gave them to me. So if I desired to be a wife and mother it was because God gave me those desires. And He would not plant that in me if He never intended to make that happen, because He will withhold no good thing from me. I got so much peace of mind from that, and was able to focus more on enjoying all the benefits of singleness until my time came. I found comfort in knowing that it would happen because God gave me the wanting in the first place. I look forward to life with my hubby to be, but I'm gonna miss only being responsible for myself lol. It will come sis, and when it does, you will be glad that you let the Lord move in your life rather than you trying to make things happen.

erica simone trust me I totally understand how you feel. I have learned through Heather Lindsey, Pinky Promise, and just in my own personal relationship with God - that I must surrender this area of my life to the Lord. And not compare my story to anyone else's story......we have to trust God with every detail in our lives. Is that easy???? NO WAY......I often have days/nights on my face to God crying out asking for strength not to take matters into my own hands, not to doubt Him concerning this area of my life, and not forsake my purity for a quick hookup because my hormones are going crazy (real talk here). Sis, trust God.....He is present in this season. I have to take fear/doubt to the cross daily because the enemy hits me with hit. The devil uses fear to cause us to doubt God and not trust Him leading us to take matters into our own hands........then we are outside the will of God wondering how we got in the mess we in.
@214InnocentGirl207 жыл бұрын
That's true im learning that now. Not to try to hook up with old flames because I'm bored or feeling lustful. I've really been to myself lately and I've decided to just be to myself until the right person comes along. It is hard especially since most the women in my family aren't married or got married later in life the only difference is they had their children already. I'm trying to do things the right way and it is definitely hard but I won't give up.
@exoticgl0w7 жыл бұрын
erica simone I once had a family member tell me I would "more then likely success in my career but alone" (paraphrasing what she actually said) --------- my heart was so hurt.......I cried over it many nights.......and to be honest it still stings a little........because I was wondering why would my family member say that........I'm trying to live right, I'm trying to wait to marriage to give my body away, I'm trying to live for God.......I had to make a choice though......to eat the words send by the enemy to discourage me or stand on the Word of God, the promises of God, and what I believe He showed me in a dream about my future.........to this day my desire is to trust God concerning this area of my life. I don't care what statistics say about black women and marriage. I don't care what statistics say about the ratio of women to men. God is sovereign and in control of all things. My hope is in Him.

I have a very similar story, but I was blessed at an older age in marriage at age 59 years old. PTL b/c when you ask HIM for a mate, HE does it the Right way....but it may take time. He has stuff to work out in your life to develop you. So true that He wants you to fall in love with Him first and this also means to be busy about serving others. I became singles leader at church while single. Such a similar story that I have. I am 65 now and happily married for 6 years.

Thank you, Thank you for this post & your testimony. As I was listening to you, I felt like it was me talking. I am 45, never been married & just ended a 6 year relationship with someone that wasn't right for me...it was God that saved me from that relationship & I'm so thankful. I & everyone else too, thought that I was going to be the one married with kids by the time I was 30, but that hasn't been God's plan. I can't wait to start your group. Praying for encouragement & the next step! ❤️

Words of YAHWEH for the virgins waiting for HIM💖😻🥰😍 The reason why many Christians women fall in love for the wrong man, it’s because they are willing to sacrifice their lives for a man not for Jesus, making this man their everything, while it should be Jesus their everything, women be careful to not make your everything a human being and give your whole, your body, your soul, your heart, your mind and live for a person who WILL NEVER DIE FOR YOU and give you the ETERNAL LIFE, because by doing it so, you might find yourself marrying a man who will transform himself on a snake in the bedroom and intimacy. A Christian woman find out that her husband was devil puppet, that the devil himself send him in her life to destroying her by being married to her, and after she get married to him, he transformed to a cobra in their bedroom at night, then confessed that he was sent by the devil to fake Christianity and marrying her to destroy her😱😰😭😭😭😭😭 Can you imagine that⁉️ This is worst than a nightmare or a scary movie‼️ So please Christians women have discernment when you are falling in love for a men ( same for men) don’t make someone’s else than YAHWEH your life and your everything, please don’t do that, this is how the devil set us up with his children and seduce us like he seduced Eve, then Eve seduced Adam, because Adam make Eve his everything to the point that he listened to her when she gave him the forbidden fruit instead the words of God Yahweh‼️ Genesis 2: 15-25; 3 This is why he fallen because he put Eve before GOD YAHWEH, he put her words before and above YAHWEH’S WORDS, after doing that he lost EVERYTHING that God Yahweh gave him way before Eve was created and put in his life😢😭😰 So do not make the same mistake than Adam did, please learn from his mistakes so you won’t doing the same as him.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Do not be like the virgins who fallen asleep in her waiting to the spouse ( the bridegroom) Mathew 25, Jesus the BRIGEGROOM should be the ONLY ONE waiting for endlessly with UNDYING LOVE and EVERLASTING DEVOTION. Jesus the SPOUSE should be the ONE and the ONLY ONE person that we are willing to DIE FOR because he died for us FIRST, so we will not perish but have the ETERNAL LIFE. Jesus should be the ONLY ONE that we will give our life to, because he gave his life for us FIRST, so he is the ONLY SPOUSE and BRIGEGROOM that we must give our lives, our everything, our mind, our soul, because he is the ONLY SAVIOR that can save us from the devil and his wickedness schemes.

I'm getting very close to 30, as I write this I've just had another horrible heartbreak. I was seeing this guy for a few months, and I had prayed to God about a month ago today that is this was not a good thing to let it fall apart. It did today in a very hurtful way. I know that God is protecting me and preparing me for a man that truly lives Him! This is so encouraging, because I too desire marriage and kids. But, I will wait on the Lord's timing and spend time praying and in the Word daily!

keep your deyes on God, dont be discouraged. there is such a plethora of wrong doctrines on many pulpits regarding this area. sometimes its the enemy behind many delays, but having said that, God has a plan for your life. Let Him show you why you are not yet married, if its warfare, He will reveal. dont be discouraged, stay on track and be prepared for war. Sometimes you have to fight for whats yours, many girls are facing resistance in this area due to blood line issues, but as i say, keep your eyes on Jesus, He will order your steps and lead you to the right thing, in the mean time, discover your purpose and God's best for you, He will make it good. I didnt want to promote my book on this, but i will say, for anyone reading this and single, feel free to check out my book, Uncommon Destiny Uncommon Partner on amazon or itunes, i address a lot of reasons why many ladies and men are single, and some of the reasons have nothing to do with God. its just that in many churches we have beleived that everything that happens is God's will, which is false.,some things its our choices, sometimes unseen barriers etc . having said that, keep your eyes on Jesus and He will make it good, God bless you and always remember, you have an Uncommon Destiny!! :)

Thank you for this interview lindsey and lori, i needed this. I broke off a 10years relationship in March, 2017 because it was the only obstacle between me and God. i really wanted it to work cos of the time and energy i had invested and this made me refuse to see so many red flags other people (except me) could see. Now, 7months after the break up, i won't trade the peace, joy, love and pleasure God gives me for anything, not even to revive that 10years relationship. Though am in my twenties, i now have a clear description of what a Godly man should be. So this interview reinforces the fact that God does not work with our time and when his time comes he would restore all the years that had been eaten by the cankerworm. Amen.

Thanks for this message Lori and Heather. Lots of lessons here! The issue of AGE and CHILDREN is quite huge. I see lots of childless women in comments section who are over 40 and 50 and still waiting, I think the issue of age really needs to be addressed. Like Hannah prayed for Samuel, we too should get on our knees and pray for the desires of our heart but also LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE and give no room for misery. Singleness is not a sin just as asking God for husband is not a sin.

I'm grateful to hear from someone older and their journey. I do always wonder what would be said to the woman who has a desire to get married and have children but it just never happens. I would love to hear a testimony from someone who has a desire for children but it never happened. And from the woman who desires to get married but it ends up not happening. What advice would they have. I have a friend that had amazing faith but she struggled with cancer for a long time and ended up passing away, but I do know that she had a desire for marriage and kids but that was just not granted to her. I would love to hear more from women who struggled with that desire but still did not get that. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Jeanette Minor Hi Jeanette. I have always desired children of my own. Unfortunately, I found out I had endometriosis which made it difficult to conceive. I was married to a man when I found this out and he chose to start a family with someone else. I had been in series of wrong encounters after that and have never been in a relationship since. I am 46 yrs old and I still have a desire to have my own child. I went to a fertility specialist a couple of yrs ago and he told me that even if he was to give me medication that it wouldn't produce enough eggs. I love the Lord and am coming to terms with my life, but I do struggle with having a desire to have my own child. I do not want to desire all my life and never get it. But I have to trust that God's plans, thoughts and ways are higher than mine and I pray He brings me into agreement with His plans for my life and I can get peace. I would rather have His will than my own.

Jeanette Minor - Hi Jeanette. I am now 52, single, and childless. This is not the life I envisioned for myself EVER. I expected to meet a man with strong values like myself with whom I raised 4-6 kids by both from scratch and by the spirit. Even in my 20's I was celibate far more than I was sexually involved. It's been 7 tlyears since I dealt with anyone and I no longer have any real desire to be romantically involved. It has been VERY difficult to nail my disappointment to the cross especially when I see others who are married with healthy kids and have a great job or career on top of it and they don't seem to have an interest in God from one end of the year to the next. While serving in a ministry I really studied how to be a wife from God's perspective even though I did not see a lot of positive marriages. I trusted God to provide a husband for me. The vast majority of people I dated were people I had known at least a few years before doing so. Multiple men have spoken to me (and even my mother) about marrying me but I never felt safe with them or that the relationship was appropriate to sustain a marriage. I have never been in love. (I don't think most people who think they have been were either but I digress.) God did not answer those prayers or expectations. I stumble over it in my walk of faith and sometimes it brings me to tears. However, I have decided that at all costs I will serve Him - even when I don't understand it or like it. I hope you or someone else finds my comments helpful. With all that is put upon Black women, I don't want to see any more of us set up for let downs. It is what it is.

It annoys me so much the way people think you have to be married at a certain age, or at all for that matter. I personally think too many people marry too young hence so many divorcees searching for new relationships by the time they're my age, so basically we end up in the same boat anyway because women are pressured to settle😕 PS 43 is so NOT old! 😊

Love this! As a single gal at almost 32, who has been in some intentional but not the one relationships, I found myself treating dating in 2018 like a numbers game project. Not only is it discouraging to feel like you waste so much time with first dates, but it’s taken away from my time at church and in the Word. How refreshing to feel like I can invest my time in the Lord instead, and feel much more joy, peace, contentment - and if the right man comes, that’s just a bonus. 2019 will be about finding my joy in the Lord and trusting His plan, unconditionally. Thanks for sharing the ups and downs of your journey and best to you both!

This is a common topic, with some common answers, which I believe needs further exploration. For example, Is this just an issue for black women in the church, or a problem among all nationalities in the church? Could the problem be lack of men (black), of lack of quality(black) that are mentally consciously desiring a wife and family? Is the problem, societal, men in prison, or is it spiritual? I think we need to start probing for more answers, so we can be more effective .
