This is my final fix for the audio issues I was having with the 6HF8 amplifier in the HW-16. Awhile ago, I posted a solution using a homebrew LM-380 amp in an external box. I wanted it all internal to the radio, so this video shows the way I did it. Remove the tube and output transformer and mount the TDA2030A module where the transformer was. Remove the volume control from the module and the radio, get a new 10K log taper control with switch for the rig. A small 12.6 VAC transformer and rectifier/filter/ regulator powers the new module. This has been used every day for a few months now with no failures or any other issues - works great and the removal of the 6HF8 removes a lot of heat from the rig and less demand on both filament and regular power supplies.
