i was just in a production of JCS with an almost all female cast including jesus, judas, and i played ciaphus. it is absolutely amazing to hear the different ways this song can be done. she did a beautiful job, but was just so incredibly different. this is one of the most beautiful things i’ve ever heard and i just sent it to my cast.

I love the ascending high note on “yes it’s all…” it’s so satisfying and makes Judas sound so sad. Fantastic job on this overall, it has that slight edge to it that the Judas role needs that some covers miss

Carl Anderson and Ted Neeley are simply ICONIC in their respective roles as Judas and Jesus. It is rare to find someone who measures up to the level of vocal prowess those men possess. I am extremely picky when it comes to JCSS covers. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.....VERY admirable effort!!!

There are certain nuances, inflections and such that absolutely have to be nailed to do the songs justice. So props for remaining faithful to the original while putting your personal spin on it.

@@ohmyprettygirl good question :) in some cases (in my op) it is not, it is only a negative thing as opposed to being sophisticated, refined, delicate... I used to have an ongoing debate with a friend for years, I liked this music, very much, while he hated it.... he said it was not good music, it was very primitive, cheezy, whatever... I was against this... A couple of years ago I listened to it, cause this "tune" she sings came to my mind... I wanted to hear it... cause i though it was something GREAT.. and Iistened to it, and really it was great.. BUT as I went on listening, I realized that this was basically the only part which was good music in that entire opera... This was the core... and the only substance... --- I realized... So, all in all, the opera itself appears to be hallow... having very little musical substance... a counter example of the same era: Hair that music is incredibly rich, live, sophisticated, and super intense.. - - - - As to this piece, Her performance is awesome, I'm sure we agree, it makes me remember when I'd argue, like you do now, that this is freaking awesome music... :) this part definitely is! and her performance is super-cool... including that she's a girl... If I was to direct an adaptation of this opera, Judas would be a girl... and wouldn't kill herself, but (at one point) take of her costume and leave the stage :)

I was lucky enough to see Carl Anderson on his last tour before his death (I took my mom for her birthday; she's been a fan since she saw the original cast perform in the round back in the early 70s). I don't envy anyone who takes on that role, because they'll forever perform in the shadow of that man's almost otherworldly voice.

Absolutely amazing! First time I saw that movie was in 1993-94 and I fell in love with it. Especially that song! The setting was perfect, the dark makeup, that fierceness in your eyes, the passion that was oozing from your vocals, and you were so IN THE MOMENT! That movie holds a special place in my heart because it was such a huge part of my childhood. And trust me you’ve done great justice to that song alone! When people say The Passion of Christ was a great movie more than 90% of them hardly know this movie (JCSS) let alone this song (because THAT came out in 1973) and I saw that one too and trust me.......it couldn’t touch JCSS even if they put all the top actors in the world in it. Only a handful of people in the world could even sing this song properly or even deliver it properly with the same passion and soul. You’re one of the very few that can!

Красавица Иуда разрывается между любовью к смелому и честному Иешуа, творящему чудеса на её глазах и, скажем, Понтием Пилатом, не менее красивым, сильным, облечённым властью прокуратором Иудеи. Или мудрым и богатым первосвященником Каифой, умеющим завладеть сердцем молодой женщины. Или всеми тремя. И предательство, и поцелуй Иуды, и её последующее самоубийство, когда она поняла что предала свою настоящую любовь, заиграли бы новыми красками. Исполнение отличное, очень чувственное, сильное, ярко окрашенное эмоционально. И приятно выглядит.

I would absolutely love it if you sang “Everything’s Alright” the way Mary Magdalene sang it in JCSS to Jesus!
