This really helps me to remember everything I forgot. My parents are from Riga ( well...they WERE from Riga...they are dead now :-) ). I was born in UK, and couldn't speak English until I was 5 & went to school.So..I was fluent in Latvian, buit have (over the last 50 years) forgotten most of it through lack of use, but this really wakes the memory cells. And debesmanna !!!! Wow....I remember it so well from so long ago Paldies paldies paldies XX

I'm trying to learn the language... My grandparents knew it, but my mom explained to me that they had some kind of fear on passing foward the culture, and so my parents generation already lost the language... It's so sad. But I hope I can learn it though it's so hard!

I'm so happy to find this channel! I'm a latvian descendent born in Brazil. My great grandparents came running away from the soviets. In my family we always made this recipie using wine or grape juice instead of cranberries (I think because it's not a native fruit here). I LOVE debesmanna! And am loving the videos! 😍❤️

Manna porridge (or mannapuder) is one of my favorite porridges, with some strawberry jam mmmmmmmm :) i know you can also put butter on it if you want and then there's russian saying for it: кашу маслом не испортишь
