I got my paws on some old issues of Heavy Metal Magazine and ponder those early years of finally seeing the European comics getting translated!

84, so that’s pretty early on still. Nice.

Very neat collection! As a Gen Z, this is really cool coming from a outsiders perspective. I only had a hand full of MAD issues as a kid, magazines were already growing out of date by the time I got into them around 2008/2010. I was the only kid to bring magazines to school lol Do you know if the creators of this magazine had any involvement making of the film Heavy Metal in the 80s?

They did indeed. Several of the cartoons in the film are based on comics from the magazine. Probably most famously the Den segment.

I feel the same way about Gray Morrow's work. He was a fine illustrator and it's all very well done --- but not terribly exciting. Some things that are well done just don't 'hit that switch' to get me really involved.

Where is the best place to sell these? I have shelves if them.

Probably eBay. I got these couple of copies cheap since they weren’t in the greatest condition. It can be a real pain dealing with trying to sell them at collectible prices though.

I never understood why the title word "heavy" was bent. It was so annoying to me, still is. WHY ? There was NOBODY to say "hey , thats stupid" And come up with something better.

I dig it. It gives it its own unique look instead of being boring and basic
