Those dunes are beautiful! You should check out Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in NW Mich. They’re the largest fresh water dunes in the world. At times, the waters of Lake MI look like the Caribbean but your surrounded by sand cliffs & forest. Absolutely stunning!

Cool! My son and I visited this exact spot in July 2019 on our way to Philmont Scout Ranch. We had a blast. Sandboard and sledding was awesome. It got HOT mid morning!! We spent time in the visitor center learning about this one of a kind ecosystem. Thanks for bringing back some cool memories!

The "coffee time" line always makes me think of the scene in the movie Rounders where the main character Mike shows up late to a group study session but is immediately pulled aside by another character to talk, and one of the students says "it's all right we were about to take a break anyway," and another says "coffee time!"

I love seeing the personality dynamic between you two which is somewhat unusual but totally in a good way. Susie seems like she is probably a major driving force in your life, helping make plans and maybe come up with new ideas. I suspect that you help her keep stability, regularity and steadfastness in her life. I really loved seeing you guys interact in a caring and loving way. Just please be careful not to overexert yourselves as you both are very concerned for the wellbeing and health of the other, you may find you each self sacrifice in your own ways which is clearly appreciated by the other but remember to take time for self care. Great video and the trip looked like great fun. I hope to maybe do a similar trip with my family some day.

Yes, after a dry start to the year it has turned out wonderfully wet out here in Colorado . No smoke, low pollen, no major fires. Very nice, though one does have to get whatever outdoor activities planned and accomplished by early-mid afternoon due to rains and storms if you want to stay dry.

I live in Northwestern Arizona and absolutely love South Dakota. My late Brother in Law lived in Rapid City and we had visited with he and his family there a few times. I have the same feeling about Mt. Rushmore. I am so happy you got to see the Custer State Park and the Wildlife Drive there. Super happy experience! I also enjoyed the Badlands National Park with the demonstration pioneer sod home farm and the scenery. Liked Mitchell and the Corn Palace and yes, I shopped and got my Bison burger at Wall Drug (speaking of tourists!). Thanks for sharing your journey and the fun! Hope your return trip was wonderful and not too hot.

The dunes exist because Medano Creek transports the sand away from the mountains, and the wind blows it back into that horseshoe they form right there. The rain has definitely made your hike easier and look how green everything is in the background- great year here. I did roll and roll and roll down the big dune once- but I was very drunk at the time and it was hilarious! Also, that was the Forest Service cleaning the forest in SD, and they are Federal. They do it in Colorado, and everywhere there are National Forests, including California. Colorado has gotten too crowded, agreed. I'm not leaving but I recognize how it's changed in the last 40 years, and not always for the better. Good legal weed, though, mucho freedom here and you can't say that about SD or WY. Thanks!

Ahh, Mount Blanka. We used to run cows just east of there. In the winter it would get down to 20 below or colder. It's 8000 ft. On the valley floor so you felt you could reach up and pluck the stars from the sky. Every year, my school hauled us to the sand dunes for end of school field trip. The river was the funnest part. We would spend most of the time playing in the water.

I love watching you guys together on an adventure and this was one, Part 3, that I hadn't seen yet. I love the sand dunes area and couldn't believe I was watching Luke run up the steep ones; in flipped flops no less, and at one point in his race it looked like he kicked them off! I was like, "right on dude - that's what we do in California too!" You two seem to have so much fun together hiking and exploring, eating and making Coffee 😄😃 We have these states pretty close to us too and it's definitely appealing. It's wonderful when your kids grow up into good people, who go out on their own to follow their own path leaving you as a couple to spend time together again on your own. I know for my husband and myself it bought a closeness back to our relationship that had been put aside somewhat during our period of parenting. That's not to say we ignored each other, merely that our being together as a couple was less important than our boys. I can see how that closeness has reentered your life and you look so happy together it looked like a wonderful time.

Hitting those dunes after a rain is the best! When the sand is a little wet, you definitely get better traction and don't slip down as much. Trying to walk up those dunes when they are totally dry and the wind blowing is an awesome site, but SOOOOO difficult! Cheers!

Curious, if you will add roof top tent that unfolds around the top of the vehicle. Much like a giant umbrella, then you attach the side walls that have huge windows that you can switch them out with clear window material. Expanding your living area under the tent. These systems are very popular in Korea.
