From Canada, my point of view: When the snow is "wet" -vs- a "dry" snow, it makes the tires of cars/trucks slide on the spot more easily (you need sand for traction). The good side of this wet snow, IDEAL for making snowmen. Come on kids; dress warmly, find an old hat, two big buttons and a carrot and go roll this beautiful snow. 3 balls: 1 big for the bottom, 1 medium for the body and 1 small for the head that you top with the hat, the buttons (for the eyes) and the carrot (for the nose). Probably reporting the news for people planning a trip up north today or having to work the night shift? I don't know what you think is news worthy but yh weather affecting the country does count?

Is snow cold because it's snow? Or is it cold snow because it's cold? Like if when water flies into the atmosphere it flies down, because what goes up must come down, and snow is cold, does that mean snow is cold because it has aura, or is aura cold because snow has it? This is when I really started to wonder, is snow colder the deeper it is? We know that things are more likely to maintain their current temperature the more that there is, so will there be loads of snow because it's really cold, or will it be really cold because there is loads of snow, and if snow is dry, but why I touch it it slowly becomes wet, and snow is cold, does that mean water is warm, and is water wet too? In fact, is snow even cold anyway? Things only feel cold when they take energy from you right? So that means that the snow isn't cold, it's just taking your warmth, that's why metal feels cold, something can only be hot, never truly cold, not in the way people understand it, and so, perhaps we should mass produce freezers, and who cares if it destroys the monkey's homes, I don't even care if a blond monkey beats up the freezer, because we will have made so much snow, and if every snowflake is different, surely one is perfect, and you know what else is perfect... But then it's like to be or not to be, and as I pondered further; something snapped, something inside of me, I didn't care, I didn't care about achieving super snow, I didn't care about frolicking in the snow anymore, and then I realised, if bombs are bad, and snow is good, then surely that is an oxymoron, and so we need to invest all our money in the schools, because English literature is love, English literature is life!!!!!!

I always come to see the elderly commenters complaining about how much more snow they had in the 60s while simultaneously claiming that they're all going to freeze if they don't get £6 a week to put the radiator on.

@francescapowell1538Күн бұрын
Well to be fair they were younger in the 60’s, likely less susceptible to illness and the government are now letting this companies run riot with the prices of gas … and the average pension in the UK is (last I checked) £10k a year. I’d be a bit miserable too were elderly and that was my predicament . Not like they (most of em) can run around outside have snow fights and get warm that way…

OMG folks take care - it's winter! The government website has instructions on how to keep warm as we're obviously far too thick as to know to wrap up to stay warm. Aren't we lucky that we don't have to think for ourselves (the government ignoring the fact you have to have the mental and physical capacity to access their website in the first place).
@WhichDoctor1Күн бұрын
i mean, when you look at how many people on this comments section are convinced this is either all faked propaganda cooked up by the media to distract attention from the twitter moral panic of the week. Created by a government weather machine to keep us all indoors for the inevitable labour coup to take place. Or real but wouldn't be a problem if reform were in government. Then maybe they are accurately assessing the reasoning skills of a not insignificant portion of the population

We used to have a marathon ice skating race on rivers in the Netherlands called the 11 city tour. The last time the rivers were frozen enough to do it was 1997. This has been the longest period without the 11 city tour. In 1940s and 1950s we even had 6 11 city tours in 16 years. It has been 28 years now since the 200 km river length had enough ice to skate.

The UK always seems unprepared for anything. It rains constantly, yet flooding catches us off guard. When it snows, the country grinds to a halt. It’s baffling how a major airport like Manchester can end up closing its runways under such circumstances.
