@@Cucumberflavoredmustard my truck is a show truck that is paid for, and my trailer is a work of art. I stop before I get to the storm and work out at Planet Fitness and get a massage. I watch movies and sleep. When the road is clear I move on. My customers understand weather delays.

I have never been to California. My first husband I grew up with ( his father and my Grandmother were friends. My father in law was a lifelong truck driver over the road. He use to deliver Strohs beer into Detroit in the late 1960's early 1970's. My Daddy was in California. Joined the merchant marines there. I never had any interest in going to California.since I lived on the east coast . Trucks and trains bring us our food to the table and our necessities nationwide.

you've got to love what you are doing and enjoy every free time that you have.. no matter where you are and regardless of the weather.. that was my life when I was over the road.. after almost 30 years , i hung it up three years ago.. enjoy your weather folks , it's the only one you've got..

I can't understand them putting on a single set of chains. They need triples. One spin and they are hung up on the tire with no chains. I've used singles for the steer axle and trailer but never drivers.

While it's true California has somewhat oppressive laws regarding idling engines, there are clear exceptions for both being stuck in traffic and being stuck in weather. If you were truly fined, a cursory Google search would have gotten the ticket dropped in court.
