Heavy Stubber Chaos Cultist Conversion | Warhammer 40,000 Tutorial

Nice conversion! A tip for DIY types: If you can't find any appropriate GW bits for heavy stubbers, then consider going for world-war miniature parts instead. Companies like Anvil sell the guns on their own for conversions, but there's a TON of manufacturers out there that do WWII wargames that you could steal bits from, e.g. Warlord Games. Take care when doing this, though! 40k weapons tend to be bigger and boxier than even the boxiest real-world machine guns, so real-scale weapons are going to stand out. I personally don't mind though; if anyone's going to get their hands on a Bren gun in the 41st millennium, it's a chaos cultist.

Thanks for your comment. That's some useful advice you've got there. I've bought a few things from Anvil in the past (they used to sell bionc limbs that looked pretty good on Berzerkers). I agree that historical machine guns would look pretty good, but contemporary weapons could be a bit glaring. I think anything up to and including kit used in Vietnam would look good. I personally, would quite like to see a cultist wielding a belt fed M60!

You should do some emperors childeren noise marines

I've actually got big plans for the Emperor's Children. I've just refined my previous design of the Sonic Blaster so it looks a bit sleeker uses easy to find parts. I've also made a Blast Master in a similar style and most of a Doom Siren, as well as a few other handy conversions to make your marines look more like the sons of Fulgrim. So, keep an eye on the channel if you're interested on converting any Emperor's Children or Noise Marines in the future. Just give us a little time as we're in the process of moving house at the moment. But, after we're done, we should get videos out a bit faster as we shouldn't have a pack of drunks screaming through the walls all evening (this makes recording a little tricky as you can guess).

I made one out of a grenade launcher gaurdmen arms(cadian), ork big shoota and used a empire flagellants model.

I'd have kept the strap from the flamer arm, it adds support for the gun when firing or when he's running around. Great idea though

I do agree with your point. It is best to keep in as much detail as possible with conversions. Although at the time the cultists were working for a Slaaneshi warband, so I'm sure they'd have all of the combat stims they need to hold up a gun that's twice as heavy as they are. ;)

I suppose statistically Bolters aren't that far off Heavy Stubbers in the codex. Good idea if you don't have any Imperial Guard models lying around. I'd like to see what the recoil of a Bolter would do to a Chaos Cultist!

Where did you get the heavy stubber from?

The Heavy Stubber we used in the video is a spare from an Armiger kit, but you can pick them up for a reasonable price on eBay. They're usually slightly cheaper from bitz websites if you can find one that's in stock.
