Can I Fix Three Baneblades I Wrecked As A Teenager?

Back in the ancient times (of 2007) Baneblades were the hottest plastic kit to hit the scene. For some reason, we bought as many as we could carry, then haphazardly converted them to chaos. Now I want them to serve the imperium, because what else do I have that can stand up to Spike's ever growing chaos knight house? Can these hulking chaos wrecks be brought back into the uhh... 'light' ...of the imperium?

Some may argue that the Emperor’s mercy is best for these Baneblades, but I’m sure I’ll be able to rid them of the taint of Chaos.

The idea of turning a bane blade into a nurgle tower is genius, and the wires on that turret actually look really good

Admittedly the idea wasn’t bad, but the execution could have been a little less... flimsy - Greenstuff and sprues do not necessarily make a sturdy structure. :/ The greenstuff was stretched to look like skins on a historical siege tower, but after a few years (and more than a few housemoves) a bunch of those skins broke off, eventualy, it became harder and harder to fix. Plus, it didn’t really have any ‘shape’ to the tower structure, it was just like this tall green, hat thing. than what I made. As for the wires, that was a time long before I knew of the existence of the Roll Maker.

Good luck bro! When I first started the hobby I ruined a couple metal hive tyrants trying to give them wings. These kids these days will never understand the pain of converting metal models.

Metal models were indeed a pain! Never mind converting them, just trying to glue them together in the first place is a pain if you don’t know how to pin things. The half plastic half metal kits were notoriously awkward for just falling apart for no reason too. Saying that, I was actually working with old metal Obliterator models last year for a Mutilator conversion. Although I’ve heard that Mutilators might not even appear in the new codex, so I may have to scrap those for now until I can think of another use for them.

Turn them into Elysian Dropblades. :D You could smooth the surfaces to make them look like rolled steel (for increased aerodynamics) and add arrays of tank sized gravchutes and thrusters. The former plague tower could become Shadowsword variant with StuG 3 type sideskirts to fix the nasty holes. Generally speaking , all the surfaces require some cleanup... Night Shift makes cool tank models and has some nice tricks to improve on the surfaces with texture pastes and welds. There is so much potential here!

Hmmm.. I think Tallarn is a really interesting Guard regiment with conversion opportunities, plus they're heavy on the armor lorewise! Optimize the tanks for desert fighting!

My gaming table has a desert board on it, so Tallarn would be a good fit. I think I'll have to do some reading on what all these new-fangled baneblade variants get up to. The last time I looked at the rules for these baneblades, we were using armour values, not wounds.

Flawless Host painting guide is out first, then it's the Noise Marines (sonic blasters). We've already got some converted Blastmasters built, so we'll mostlikely be doing more than one Noise Marine video.

What about rebuilding them as some sort of battlefield-recovered vehicles, with alot of Inquisition/Imperium markings and holyness, as if restoring their machine spirits back from the warp? that would be real nice.

I totally could do this, I've got all of the imperial symbols I got with the original baneblades, as well as all the imperial markings that came with my knights.

I remember doing something like this recently I had came upon some of my old grey knight models I got years ago, back then I did some wild conversions and kitbashes on them trying to make them look chaosy? I guess or what I figured was cool back then it took some deconstruction and salvaging of bits until I was able to restore them to their glory so I believe with a bit of time patience and some money you could definitely restore these tanks to what they were meant to be

I think it's ge uinely going to be a tough one to get the two messed up ones back into shape. The one with no top has a lot of plastic glue damage that needs fo be cleaned off before you can rebuild it. The storm lord is going to be a nightmare. As you said you will have to take it apart bit by bit and the whole front and top probably needs replacing, turrent included. However, the advantage of them being guard tanks is that you can cover some stuff up with small boxes, rolls of stuff and general vehicle accessories like camo netting etc

Definitely got to cover them stowage boxes and scrim! Those tanks are going to have more whistles and bells than my first airsoft gun.

I'd like to see a Krieg baneblade, its not really their style but they should have some still. And that could give you some great WW1 green stuff inspiration from the tanks of that era, like trip wire, sand bags etc

They actually have like 2 or 3 in the Krieg book. They also get some screen time so to speak.

@@TaCo0oCaT The book is literally named Krieg and it was published on 1-29-22. They don't see a lot of table top because Krieg is a stupidly expensive army to run due to it being Forge World. Also if you're running Krieg your binging what makes them Krieg which is their Deathriders, their Earth shaker Artillery, and their special Guardsmen.

If I can't convert all of them back to to look fully functional, I did have thoughts of maybe using the most damaged baneblades as cover. Converting and painting them to make them look wrecked.

I'm actually halfway through recording that video, I came up with a way to make some impressive Knight/Armiger bases without each base taking literally days to make. That video will be on here midway through May. I've also filmed another basing guide where I get plain 50mil bases and turn them into what look a bit like Sector Imperialis bases, so there's a few of these guides in the pipeline.

A few people have mentioned The Death Korps of Krieg. It is an interesting idea, but my problem with it is that although GW released a plastic kit not so long ago, the majority of the models are exclusively Forge World and I’m not a big fan. Their kits are quite overpriced for how fragile they are and the quality of GW’s plastic kits is on par or better than FW these days. So as interesting as the side is I’d prefer to wait for a bigger range of plastic kits to be released first.
