It's been a few years ago but when I drove a truck I was delivering to General Motors before they closed and all of a sudden a 747 with the space shuttle mounted on top was landing at Tinker AFB. Now that was a cool looking site to see.

I am retired USAF. This brings back memories. I was stationed at Minot AFB (5th BW). I saw those buffs everyday. I was in Desert Storm and the base I was at had the AWACS. I saw those everyday.

Shout out from Noble Ok, son in law was a E3 crew member. Never gets old seeing the swing wings and 52's come over the house.

I just read a piece on Tinker AFB having two destructive tornados, only five days apart, back in 1948. So, I searched YT for more info, and a bunch of other dates came up too!! How many tornados have hit that same spot and why!! Just a few that popped up: 1999, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2023.

Because they don’t call this tornado alley for no reason

I've lived in OKC for over 25 years, and the AWACS and tankers are a fairly common sight. We used to have a squadron of C-130's based here, but the BRAC program in the late 2000's put an end to that as they got reassigned elsewhere. I believe Tinker used to have B-52's based there during the Cold War and as such was a priority target for Soviet nuclear attack should WW3 break out.

Try working in a warehouse next to a B1 blast fence, and they do engine runs. It shakes the building and rattles the windows and your teeth and they mostly do it at night while on shift…..oh boy!🇺🇸

what "warehouse"? there's NO warehouse anywhere CLOSE to the B-1 "trim-pads"!...........try again............by the way.........I work in 2283, so i'll call you out, on your bullshit!

Most Air Force bases are usually pretty quiet after sunset. I can’t imagine them doing engine run up overnight

Darn I40 traffic getting in da plane spotting way... South wind landings. I240 South of Tinker is lower, the shots are better N side of lake Draper. North wind landing approaches. Its a BUSY Logistics center!

KC135 fully loaded taking off at former Carswell AFB mid summer afternoon 100+ degrees and they pour the water to those engines will make you give up drinking, at least till happy hour that afternoon.
@Orca199042 ай бұрын
I remember one time they had one at an airshow and even with earplugs in I still had to cover my ears it was so loud. Not surprising since the thing uses 4 of the same engines that power the F-15 Eagle, complete with afterburners.
