im from liverpool so travelled from lime street,my brother lives in hebden but i stayed in the next town called mythelmroyd and just got bus into hebden and sat with feet in the river as it was tooo hot lol and btw you can get the bus up to hepstenstall from hebden

Correction. I was there when the 'hippies' arrived & many became my friends. They didn't come to be self-sufficient, they came because there was cheap housing (Oh, how times have changed !) & to get out of the area covered by the Greater Manchester Police, who were notorious at the time for their indiscriminate & viscious brutality against anyone they even suspected might be smoking something 'funny', or who simply didn't look like them. Hebden Bridge was close enough to Manchester to get there easily but a safe bolt-hole once the 'supplies' had been acquired. ;)

Thanks for your input Kevin. We did mention about the cheaper housing in our video. However, we weren't aware of the policing issue. Fascinating stuff.
