Those freights are moving along at a fair lick! When I left for Aus. In 1965 they still used loose coupled wagons and STEAM. Never been back. Great video!

Thanks for another great video, at 9:30 can anyone explain the need to use four class 20s and the purpose of the two tankers? maybe a mismatch of couplings or braking systems?

Vernon Rogers the two tankers must be barriers for the tube train and four '20' s are for top and tail power I guess.

Class 20s are usually always run in pairs, not sure why

​@@Nate0493 thinking again 4 years after I first asked the question, I guess maybe the brake lines on the 20s won't link up to the tube stock which might be being towed un-braked? With the 100T tankers, they still have 12 braked axles at each end, maybe that's enough to control the whole train? Perhaps the legend that is @Wallsrail can enlighten us? I'm a fan of his modelling videos, but enjoy his real-world rail-tales even more!
