thanks for this video. i had my first hms project. but i really don't know how and where to get the muskingum value of K and x. so may i just ask how did you get those values..thank you in advance for your help
How to calculate Muskingum Constants/Parameters (K & X)?

Thank you for your video, it is very helpful! I have a question. I have 22 reaches in my model. Should I do the same process for each of them? with the same input data ? or should I chose the major reach and do the simulation only for it?

Welcome. Here, it is shown how to do stream routing. But in Hec Hms, there exists many other ways also like Musking-Cunge method, etc. If you have subbasins, you will have to use catchment routing as well. You can use this method for all your reaches if you have the data otherwise you need to calibrate it. You will get better result (if you are calibrating and validating) when you use all reaches. You can follow tutorial #2 to tutorial #4 of this playlist for more detail.

Hello. Thank you very much for your training videos. I have benefited a lot from your videos. I am having a problem with one issue. could you just help me? I want to perform flood routing on the reservoir. I need to use the Dynamic wave method for this (but I couldn't find a program). It can be a program written in Matlab or excel. I also need to do flood routing in the reservoir with Hecras. and I need to compare the results. But I don't know how to do it. I have inlet flow data, slope and manning values and cross section values. Thank you from now.

Sir plz make video on how route the flood by modified puls method. Is there necessary to add paired data manager in this method..? When we creat & run the model by this method it always fails...So please suggest me.. thank u

How to find k &x only from inflow hydrograph?

Hey. Thanks for your video explanation. I wanted to know what parameters K and X (or how determinate it) I should use for modeling a system of subasins. I hope youy could give me if there were source of information. Thanks

X is related to diffusion and has its value 0 to 0.5. At X = 0, only storage occurs and at X = 0.5, only translation. So you could use value within it. And K is responsible for translation and is due to travel time. At first you could use time of concentration, which you can calculate from empirical formula. For more detail, refer HEC HMS manual.

We have been facing an issue with the first discharge value. How did you get the first value after continuously changing from table

@@isaacjk1703 suppose you have data from 1 jan 2018 to 10 jan 2018. In the time window, enter start: 31 dec 2017 and end 10 jan 2018. Input you data from 1 jan 2018 to 10 jan 2018 (here 31 dec will be empty and 1 jan 2018 will be available for input data). Now after entering you data, go to time window again and change Start to 1 jan 2018 and end same as previous i.e. 10 jan 2018. Now when you click on "Table" tab, you will see data in 1 jan 2018 and it will have grey color, which will not be a problem.

@@JustLearnCivil Hi, thanks for the video. I have the same problem as Isaac John. I tried your solution but as soon as I click the graph tab I keep getting the message "NOTE 10604: 1 missing or invalid values for gage "Gage1"." and I can´t run the model. You got any other idea? In your video at 10:15 you just go from Time Window tab to Table tab and it is already fixed.

@@josemanuelvalladares1831 Method 1: When you get error, change start date to one day before like 1 jan to 31 dec and the click on table tab and see if the data exits or is deleted. If it exits, change date to 1 jan otherwise, input that data again and then change data to 1 jan. Method 2: If it doesn't work, then just leave 31 dec and enter data in 1 jan leaving 31 dec empty. Then go to control specification and change the start time to 1 jan. This way, the software should run by taking data starting from 1 jan.

@@JustLearnCivil Thank you, the second method worked!

Mine does not have audio. Is it my tablet problem or the video is mute?
