I wonder why she’s resistant to the thought of Melinoe viewing her as akin to a mother? Persephone was nothing but grateful to Nyx for being there for Zag when she couldn’t, I doubt her feelings for Hecate in this situation would be much different. Perhaps it has something to do with her perspective as an immortal. To Melinoe, Hecate has been taking care of her for her whole life, but from Hecate’s perspective Chronos’ occupation and her time with Melinoe have only been going on for the godly equivalent of a week.

These points could be valid ^ It’s an interesting comparison. Hecate has no children, so perhaps she felt inferior or some imposter syndrome to Persephone and Mother Nyx. And especially Nyx who had many children and also raised Zagreus. Hecate may have also felt guilty for Chronos taking over the House, and Mel not having a “proper mother” because of her. Instead, Hecate raised Mel to be a killing machine.

She's just allergic to praise in general. She got offended when Hades expressed gratefulness for saving Melinoe.

maybe she is just horny about her social role as a servant of Nyx and therefore hates the idea of being seen as someone as important as her superiors

25:44 this confirms Hecate is not a goddess but a Titaness. Only confirming for myself, since I thought both her and Selene were goddesses, but in this game, they’re Titanesses which aided the Olympians against Chronos the first time and now aiding Melinoe for round 2

Right, I sometimes generalize the Silver Sisters being goddess, but that's not true. half of them are titanesses ^

Gonna be honest, Hekate comes off as kind of suspicious. She's an inversion of Hades, so supportive and sure of Mel that she puts a ton of pressure on her (that even she acknowledges). Plus...we don't know the whole of what went down between her and the House of Hades. And I'm not sure I buy why she didn't tell Demeter about Mel. (Maybe this is just because Eris comes off to me like someone who knows something Mel (and the player) doesn't, and despite her shit attitude I think Nem is right not to trust her implicitly; is Hekate especially leery of Nem because she might be deserving of some retribution?) And then there's Doom incarnate coming to stay at the Crossroads, as if they're up to something there that mustn't be carried out... I don't necessarily think she's up to anything deliberately nefarious, but I could see a disagreement with her Headmistress being a part of Mel's character development, culminating in a more brutal round 2 fight with her. Or that could just be me seeing things that aren't there. It's fun to think about.

Yes I see some sort of confrontation over sone disagreements too, but it is sad to see Melinoe being raised by a single mom, but it is nice to see Hecate trying to be a mom for her....

You’re arguments are sound and I agree with them all basically. Hecate may be telling the truth about not notifying Demeter, but she does not clarify when Nemesis spoke out of line. I don’t think Hecate is malevolent either, but she’s withholding information Mel would’ve liked to know. A future interaction in a fight when the bomb blows is what I’m waiting for. Nemesis I figured would have her moment, Eris is a peculiar one. She specifically says she’s helping, but also doesn’t want Chronos to die lmao. Explain Eris!!!

hecate strikes me as the classic trope of a jaded or morally gray character acting as a foster parent for a much kinder, deceased loved one's child-- trying very hard to give them the life they would've had if their family was alive, but unable to fully make them happy because they can't get over their grief, or they have some past agenda that they can't simply let go of

It's made pretty clear because she needed some time establish a base and train Melinoe up. Demeter would have gone on a warpath immediately and blow their cover.

There's a good amount for Hypnos, a rather short one. I don't mind putting it together for you if I still have the clips. I'm limiting this interactions series to technical testing for now because, oh boy, I'm starting to get lost haha. There's also a Hypnos interaction that deserves to be out.
