I'm a Canadian and ex para commando of Canada , my French father in law survived the concentration camp , my wife's grandmother hid 3 entire Jewish families from 1940 to late 44. In my wife's little village dozens of Jews were hidden , not because they were Jews but because people had compassion on them. Humor played a great role in my father in law surviving the concentration camps . That gentleman on stage is a perfect example of Jewish humor and common sense. Israel lives in a tough neighborhood and they have learned in this present generation to also laugh like their grandparents . Israel will survive and thrive .The willingness to fight for their survival as a people and nation is the same in this generation as that of those who survived the concentration camp ... and Jews and their sense of humor is amazing

' things are normalising' in what respect? I get the sense Israel has a downgraded status in the minds of many people. For starters, the war in Gaza has deteriorated Israel's fiscal situation. Tourism- though not a key part of Israel's economy, has been severely affected. One in ten hotels across the country are now facing closure.
