Great job Max. Let me add a bit to help. I was formerly an executive at EMC. EMC is the portion of the business that Dell now uses for its enterprise business. This involves large servers integrated with mainframes, etc. The way the process worked is that EMC/Dell would bring customers to Hopkinton, MA where the entity was headquartered. At the Customer center we would set up all possible varieties of hardware and software suites that could suit the needs of the individual customer and its particular needs. The customer would then customize a system architecture that met their needs. Based on history, my belief is that the public ledger/Hedera will now be on the menu of options for customers as they regularly update their system needs. This will result in periodic roll-outs to extremely large corporate IT departments as they decide whether a public ledger helps their business.

So much content packed in 52 minutes. The highlight for me was was DLA Piper and Dentons advising Saudi Arabia. Crypto is a wonderful and mistreated puppy at the animal shelter looking for a good home. The home must be filled with trust and love on both sides. I would love to see Saudi Arabia adopt it. The issue in the west is "taxes". It's not and can't be put in a tidy little Charles Schwab statement with a 1099 ( year end tax report ) sent off to the customer and the IRS. The end result will be the large deposit tax report generated by banks which is getting easier during this round of consolidations. Oops, I've gotten off point. That's why you are doing the video and not me. Great job as always Max.

Hi Max. I've bought hbar every week for about 3 years now. I'm getting to the stage now that I'm happy with the amount I've got. Do you think it's better to start investing in another project, or mabye look in to stocks? I've never really invested before hedera, so still unsure about where to put my money. Also, thanks for the hbar updates. It's been too long!

Great question, for the stocks I think most are massively over priced and unless you have inside knowledge or enterprise level money it’s generally a mugs game at the moment. There are other projects that are likely to go higher in price before Hedera but it all depends on your risk tolerance. PePe meme coin has 1000 X in the last month but it will hit $0 at some point.

The question from Ross about diversification is very pertinent, or as Wall Street guy Peter Lynch called it deworsification. Max, I remember a few years back you said you owned ~500k HBAR, recently I think you said ~5mil. So, would you say success comes from finding a project you believe in and then going massively 'overweight' and diversification is just a word used to sell newspapers and investment advice forms?@@MWalkerWilliams

What is interesting is that if a bad actor is a bad actor and they want to participate they can't be bad actors even if they were a corruption corporation. The fact that you can be anonymous doesn't stop "evil corporations" from running nodes on other chains anyway. I have a question though, what do the governance nodes get paid, I might of missed that part.

@H C The overwhelming majority of people who own crypto do so to produce wealth. Also, a great many cryptos were created as a business endeavor, even ones that weren't pump and dumps. That being said, even non profit organizations still need to produce revenue to keep themselves afloat and expanding. So the answer to my original question is valid regardless.

They need to buy HBAR to pay for transactions on the network. They will not reduce the circulating supply, they will increase the velocity of the coins. They buy HARS to spend them on transactions to run their businesses.
@MWalkerWilliams

Hi joebro247, the GC members (and many others) by the Hbars to carry out transactions on the network. Depending on the size of the use case this will take up supply as companies buy Hbars to ensure they always have enough to keep their use case live. For example, when atma.io launched I believe Avery Dennison bought $3m of Hbar to get the app going. At the rough price at the time that was 42.8m Hbar, if 1,000 companies did the same there would only be 1.7B Hbar left over!

HI Max. Thank you for a great HBAR video. I would like to consult your opinion on one aspect of Hedera staking rewards that I have heard people talk about. We know that staking reward APY is computed on the basis of the total staked HBAR amount. The issue is based on simple math. Let us assume that I, as an investor, expect 6.5% APY on my staked HBAR. It can be shown that if the amount of staked HBAR is greater than 46.94B (= 50B / 1.065) then 6.5% APY would not be possible as the staked HBAR plus the HBAR paid in stakimg rewards would exceed the maximum supply of 50B HBAR. One can make a similar calculation for any desired level of APY and come up with an amount of staked HBAR that would make this APY impossible to deliver. What are your thoughts on this? What am I missing? Have the Hedera Foundation shared opinions on this? I realize that this is not an issue that is problematic at the moment but it may be in the future.
@MWalkerWilliams
@MWalkerWilliams Жыл бұрын
Not all Hbar can be staked, there are more Habr than their nodes each with a stakable limit. Swirlds’ node for example is maxed out, you can’t stake a new Hbar to it. 👍🏻
@EE-gy1kf
@EE-gy1kf Жыл бұрын
@@MWalkerWilliams Hi Max. I just looked up the Hedera rules for max stakimg per node. The max stake per node is computed by dividing the total supply of Hbar by the number of nodes in the network. That is, 50B / N where N is the number of nodes. This means that the whole Hbar supply can in fact be staked. This however is not the main issue. The main issue for me is the followimg. Let us make some assumptions about one possible future scenario: all 50B are in circulation; 40B Hbar are staked; the price of one Hbar is 1$; the transaction fee is 0.0001 USD and staking rewards are fully funded from transaction fee revenue. If we require 6.5% APY that would translate to a daily staking reward of 7.1M Hbar (= 40B x 0.065 / 365). It can be shown that we need 820K TPS to generate enough tranaction fee revenue to allow for this 6.5% APY. Here is why: 820K TPS x 24 (hours) x 60 (min) x 60 (sec) x 0.0001 (USD) x 1 (Hbar per one USD) = roughly 7.1M Hbar. Now imagine what happens if stakers, after the first reward payout, decide to re-stake all of these 7.1M Hbar implying that now the staked Hbar is 40B + 7.1M. As per the previous equation the TPS needs to increase immediately just to be able to sustain the 6.5% APY. Note that this simulation can be redone with any values for the main parameters of interest. The bottomline is that as stakers re-stake their rewards the network TPS needs to increase continuously just to be able to sustain a givel level of APY or else APY would continously fall demotivating staking behaviour and compromising the security of the network. Where does this issue come from? It comes from 1) transaction fees are paid in USD that is then converted to Hbar but 2) staking rewards are paid as a percentage of staked Hbar. There is a disconnect between the two givig rise to the issue I described. Do you agree with the scenario that I described and what are your thoughts on its implications?
@MWalkerWilliams
@MWalkerWilliams Жыл бұрын
There are a lot of assumptions there but the over reaching theory is correct. However, if Hbar is $1 then the APY won’t be 6.5% (I doubt) it’ll be closer to 4%, I also don’t see 90% of the total supply being staked at any point, there is too much required for transactions and/will be held by enterprise use cases. Most importantly you’ve worked on the assumption that all transactions are $0.0001 when there is a tariff of fees with many much more than that (a native token burn costs 10X that = $0.001, contract storage payments are set at $0.2, still far cheaper than any other platform I’ve seen but still 2000 times more than your example fee). Hedera Test net is currently running 4,000 TPS and I do see a time when 1T transactions per year is regular on Hedera. Hope that helps.

Value and price are two very different things and although people with your attitude are generally correct in the short term, in the long term they always get absolutely slaughtered. I’ve seen it in property, health care, hotels, development and crypto. You’ll always be a short term winner and a long term clown and the worst bit is boys that are built like you never change because they never accept that their circumstances might be their fault.
