We often get asked a lot how we can cover homecomings without getting too emotional. The truth is we do get emotional but we've gotten good at fighting through those emotions to do our best at capturing these beautiful moments.
Watching missionaries who have been away from their families for 1.5 - 2 years hug their parents and siblings tight is so special to witness.

This is touching and I pray our Heavenly Father continues to bless and protect each and every missionary who shares His love with the world! I'm also a missionary and with my husband in Guatemala! God loves missionaries!

@@ByTheHedgesPhotoVideo the Birmingham mission that's cool as the Birmingham mission covers allot of places also covers the whole of Wales too which is cool.. I know this as a few years ago now the Leeds England mission took some areas from the Birmingham mission as London had 2 missions but then it went to one mission so some areas went to Birmingham and then some from the Birmingham mission came to the Leeds mission . I remember as my friend was assistant to president and him and his companion had to go to an area which they had took over to Leeds England mission to make sure the missionarys were OK and get to know them and also the area

Thank you very much for commenting! We love all types of homecomings too! Also as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (sometimes referred to as LDS or Mormon) we believe in Christ as well. He is at the center of everything we teach and learn, so we have being Christian in common. We no doubt share many of the same beliefs!

Im guessing a missionary for the LDS communuty is like a service member for the general public?
@ByTheHedgesPhotoVideo
@ByTheHedgesPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Hi Gabriel - Yes. Their two main goals are to teach people about Jesus Christ and to follow His example of loving and serving others. They serve full time for 18 months to two years. During that time they don’t see their families in person which is why these homecoming reunions are always so special.

I recently moved to Louisianna from Mumbai, in India, and had been told by my guru to expect missionary visits every Sunday at exactly six in the morning, as it was the American cultural thing, and that I should welcome them in hospitably as part of our culture. She told me that white culture meant, friends ringing each other to book an appointment first, otherwise dont even expect to get asked for a glass of water. Apparently whites are not so hospitable. So last Sunday at 5: 57 am I had three of them around. Being a Hindu, of course I invited them in for a cup of tea with cream scones and strawberry jam, as it's the traditional thing to offer guests in India. They looked like they'd had a terribly rough time. They in fact were dishevelled and looked the much the worse for wear. Like they'd had to run, in fact now that I think about it they were definitely out of breath and a bit on the shakey side. I didn't make much of it at the time, but they did seem a bit on the Thank God, and we're so grateful to be let in mode. Anyway we all settled down with my best Wedgewood Chinaware at the table and I asked them what they would all like to discuss? They all looked a bit confused and said they couldn't remember as they'd never actually made it this far with anyone before and that usually people just slammed their door in their face. It sort of made sense after what my guru had told me, the glass of water offering now seemed such a hopelessly distant prospect afterall. Anyway, so after discussing the weather, I asked them if all whites were so inhospitable, and if it was true that they'd never even ask if you wanted water? They looked well confused so I decided to drop the topic, but I think they liked our Indian tea ceremony. Traditionally, we make scones, cut them in half and put a huge dollop of fresh cream on and then some strawberry jam on top. It has to be served with Darjeeling tea preferably in Bone China made by a good company like Wedgewood, though Royal Dalton might be fine too. I'd recently run out of rose petal jam and had placed an order with Fornum and Mason in Picadilly, but I think they all really enjoyed it. Anyway, Before leaving, they peered out of the window. I think to check the weather before saying thanks dude, waving bye and walking away in a very worried rush. I hope to meet them again soon and maybe, I can get their advice on where I can get some Indian food spices. Am getting a bit fed up on the Gumbo now. BTW, What's this dude business? Because I clearly told them my name? And should I keep my Hindu hospitality or adopt the cultural mores of the white people? Because afterall, I do live in their country now.
