Yep, just heard of late that Don Harron passed away. We watched Hee Haw from its summer '69 introduction through its run on CBS. We lost track of it during syndication. But what a great show. We enjoyed the barber shop section, especially when Archie Campbell did his Rindercella recitation and when she slopped her dripper. Thought my mom would never stop laughing. RIP, Charlie.

I met Don Harron a couple of times when he shopped in my computer store at yonge & bloor, he would tell e stories of his time in show business and discussed politics while I changed his watch battery and help him pick out software for his PC, very down to earth nice man, and the last thing he said to me back in the 80's was, don't take any wooden nickels, funny cause they really did make those a long time ago in Canada and if you got one today, it would probably be worth a lot more than 5c, thanks again Don for all the laughs and your business.

My favorite clip of Hee Haw was when T. G. Shepherd was singing Last Cheater's Waltz. During the instrumental break Roni Stoneman came out on stage as Ida Lee, grabbed Shepherd, and waltzed him around the stage. I laughed for three days! I wish RFD-TV would post that clip!!

America's favourite country television show was created by a couple Canadians from Toronto...Not many people know that (Also Don Harron and Gordie Tapp are from up here in the Great White North...Don had been doing his Charlie Farquharson character for quite a long time before joining Hee Haw)...We used to watch this show every Saturday night right before Hockey Night in Canada came on.

Don Harron (Charlie Farquharson) was a man of great comic talent - many of his scripts were absolute genius and he was often 'spot on' when it came to Canadian politics and was a real 'eye opener' without ruffling too many feathers and to be able to do that takes talent folks! I hope he makes a lot laugh in heaven where I am sure he is having a ball right now as he was a gem of a human being!

Don Harron was a very, very funny and clever man. Remember one of his lines about a woman. He said that when she walks down the street she has the kind of face that makes men turn their heads, especially if she's walking toward you. And another line about a fellow in town who was turned down for a job at the the mill, because they didn't have enough work to keep him busy. His reply was that they'd be surprised at how little work it would take to do that.

I remember one where he said that the post office had doubled their staff. The postmaster had his wife working there now -- she was settin and sortin and he was standin and handin. He and Junior Samples were both hilarious.
