Today we're looking at the 2019 Honda Fury. This is a factory chopper/cruiser that has a lot of great features but can it really be considered a $10,000 chopper or just a cruiser trying to imitate something it's not?

I bought a brand new 2022 Honda Fury a couple months ago, yeah a 2022 in 2024 showroom. Nobody wanted it & it just sat there, only 7 miles on the odometer just one test drive , nobody liked the yellow and black. I walked in 2024 , couldn’t believe it only had 7 miles on it, happy I bought my Fury & wouldn’t trade it for nothing. It’s dependable, it doesn’t bother me that it doesn’t have all the fancy gizmos on the , it’s kept simple with the speedometer and I don’t mind that at all. I wasn’t born rich 🤑 or with lots of money 💴, simple and dependable is fine with me. The Fury is comfortable, dependable and it’s comfortable for a big guy like me . The V-Twin 1312cc is fine with me , that Honda dependability is wonderful and the Fury is a great bike.

I bought a brand new 2016 Fury (dark metallic grey). It's a great bike, did a few mods to it. Looks awesome and very reliable for the past 7 years. It's a long bike and making tight turns can be tricky but I got use to it after awhile. I'm 5'8" and it's perfect for my height. I recommend changing out the stock pipes and seat as your first mods.

The Big Dog is no more a "real chopper" than the fury. Both are factory production units (nothing wrong with that). "Real choppers", from the late 60's and 70's, got the name because bike owners would chop their frames and weld them back together.
@jeffmullinix7916
@jeffmullinix7916 Жыл бұрын
Well that is true . But the name Chopper goes into mid to later 40's . Were riders that road bikes during the war and got out would buy Military surplus bikes . Then they civilized those bikes . They cut all the stuff off the bike to make them into scramblers or hill climbers . They also made them into street bikes . That lasted into the early to mid 60's . As the surplus bikes could not be got then they would buy a bike from the dealers and they chopped them . By the latter part of the 60's from about 68 then the stretched chopper came along along with pot and LSD and Acid . Young men just coming back from Nam some had done drugs over seas while serving . Started to get freaky . Buy the mid 70's chopper frame manufacturing just came in to play . Made it easy to turn a stock Harley into a stretched out long fork job . Then the wild paint jobs . Some looked really wild and most looked really bad . These manufactered frames on the most part quastionable at best . Welds breaking doing 90 MPH and stuff like that . The long forks also bent or even broke . More so if your building your own chopper . But there was a few manufactures that did a great job in building a frame and long forks . But not many . Still is this way to this day . People would weld up a frame and grind the welds smooth . Not good at all . Bike frames have to be 100% with no voids in the weld . The heat have to be dead on as well as the speed . Then the welds have to be tested not X-Rad but also put a test peace into a stress test and riped apart . If the weld it self rips then it is good . If the weld rips at the edge then cant pass . Weld could be to cold or to hot . Then there is the rods them selves . When welding rod cant be in the open air where they can cllect moisture . They have to be in a dry box or a heated welding box .

@@jeffmullinix7916 any actual welder, that is actually competent knows how to produce a quality weld. he doesn't even have to be a great welder. just one who knows what he's doing. as a sheet metal worker, i know literally multiple dozens of guys who can produce a safe and quality weld. not one of those guys is going to choose a stick machine to do the job. you're not welding a sewer line or an i-beam. the reason you'd need to grind the weld is because it's ugly. part of the reason it's ugly is because of using a stick machine. it's not a job for a shade tree "i can weld" guy. the factories that make bike frames don't stick weld anything, ever. these days, if you were going to build a chopper in your garage you aren't locked in to borrowing the welding truck from your job as a pipefitter, over the weekend. you can rent any machine you desire for a reasonable fee. there's no sane reason to use a stick welder to make caterpillars all over your bike. a decent tig welder can produce consistent welds that only need to be cleaned up with a wire brush before they're ready for paint. i've watched guys use the same machine they weld angle iron frames with, weld 2 pepsi cans together without blowing any holes in it.

I own this exact bike. Bought it brand new and took off to Colorado for two weeks in the mountains. The bike handles great although it's a little light when you encounter winds in the panhandle of Oklahoma. I got rid of the factory pipes and put a set of cobra pipes on it. Made it a little louder but I didn't like that it sounded like a weed eater on steroids. I love the paint job!!! It's beautiful. I've had a lot of Harley guys ask me if I was riding a Softail and they were shocked when they saw it was a Honda. Girls seem to dig it too. I don't like the instrument cluster either. There are not a lot of companies that make the tire for the back but I found the best performance from Metzler rear tire.

Got my 2017 brand new in June 2018 because my 04 VT1100 had 60K miles. Wanted to try a fuel injected and this was on the showroom floor so I bought it. Used it for commuting 150 miles a day for a few years even down to 35F. Got a big windshield on it which looks OK but I'm a commuter so I don't care about style. Super reliable machine. Comfortable 2 up (wife loves to ride) with after market seat (Corbin with backrest for her) but the solo seat looks the best because it accentuates the rear tire. Small tank, so plan out your trip. I carried a spare liter but I don't have that commute anymore. When the "I'm thirsty" idiot light comes on, I've gone another 20 miles to refill. Never ran out of gas. For 2 up, wish I had the ABS. Only ran synthetic oil and runs great at 30K original miles. Yes, the clutch is set up for a long throw but you don't have to pull it in much to shift or idle. It is adjustable somewhat. The cluster faceplate has many cool aftermarket graphics to help de-ugify it. At least it's EZ to read while keeping your eyes on the road. Been riding since 14 years old and now 65 so this could be my last bike. I'm happy with it.

I have that exact Fury. I’ve have it for about a year and I love it. Not a huge fan of the instrument cluster or not having LEDs, but I don’t think it detracts from the overall look. No, it’s not a chopper. It’s styled with that look in mind. I just laugh at all the Harley guys who turn their noses up at it cuz “it’s not a Harley”. I’m not saying this about all Harley owners, but the ones around where I live have these things in common: they’re overweight, middle aged or older, and all ride the same 2-3 models of Harleys. I have a friend that rides a Harley (a 2001 former police bike) ask me why I didn’t get one. I told him it’s quite simple. All the Harleys look the same/similar and lack style. Yeah, the colors are kinda different and have aftermarket stuff, but they’re pretty much the same. Besides, I told him, I didn’t want one. The one I have is exactly what I want. Plus it’s specifically a 1 up so I can get on it and escape the world.

Corbin has a King and Queen seat for the Fury. I have looked into that seat and found that it doesn't shove the rider any further forward like some King and Queen seats do, also the queen seat isn't so small that your pillion feels like the seat has been shoved up into never, never land. There is a hard back brace that comes with that seat so you don't have to add a sissy bar, unless you want to. From my younger riding days, way back when, I had a King and Queen seat I bought from Honest Charley. I took a Navy Sea Bag I bought from an Army/Navy store, stuffed some foam rubber inside and that was my backrest. Did my back sweat a lot, oh yeah, brother, but it was extremely comfortable on long trips.

i know alot of guys who complain about their cruiser not having a tach, not just you. i don't get it. what would you need a tach for? i can hear and feel when the bike is ready to shift. i couldn't care less what the rpms are. it's not like you're racin for a timeslip. a couple of rides, and you'll know where the bike's happy place is. i gotta agree with you about the clutch, that would get on my nerves too. i would swap that out for an adjustable lever, if i were to own a fury. i also agree about the instrument cluster looking cheap and out of place. it's baffling that they got so much right about the bike, but weirded out on something as prominent as the instrument box. in 2018 i almost bought a fury. i ended up buying a 900 vulcan custom as a 2 yr old leftover because the price was too good to pass up. the fit and finish don't compare to the fury, and it certainly doesn't have any where close to the same power. as i type this i am waiting for a front end from chopper supply. i went with an 18° rake and 10" over tubes. i also am going with 4" risers and a set of mini apes. i'm going to morph this bike a little at a time, until it looks completely different.

I had a new Honda S2000. Arguably one of the best sports cars ever produced. Problem was: that it was just so "good" and vanilla, like all Honda products. Built to be the best on earth (I'm a Honda fanboy and Honda junkie) but the car had no soul. I kept my Miata NA and sold the S2000. The NA is 100% more engaging to drive. "Good" and reliable, are not always the recipe to success. My Boss 302 Mustang Laguna Seca stirs the soul and shakes the ground. I haven't ridden a Fury, but wouldn't be surprised if it is so good that it lacks soul. If it doesn't shake the ground a little bit so to speak. Plus, it is reminiscent of the ever so gaudy and excessive opulence of the Orange County Chopper nonsense that it is almost repulsive to look at. I admire Honda for building this but don't take any "chopper" seriously. My all stock 2003 Harley Davidson Super Glide 100th Anniversary edition is understated elegance in the beautiful Gun Metal Blue and for the $3,500 that I paid for it in mint condition I would take it all day over a bike that everyone is going to stare at like it is from Mars. My RC30, GB500, and VF1000R are the golden era of Honda motorcycle production.

I just started looking at choppers and cruisers and cafe racers, this thing is a beast. Not a hardcore biker or "gear head" I have a preference and it's what I like, I'll be riding it, right? Do you.

Every HD I own/owned has found neutral just fine. A flush and using Redline with Shockproof completely smoothed out the shifts. Almost too much, with going into gear without a noticeable sound/clunk.

That Big Dog may have been $40,000 new, it's not likely worth over $10,000, if that, today. Very poorly designed, very poorly built, very unreliable, and extremely uncomfortable. I had a chance to ride several of those "boutique" choppers back during the early 2000s, when they were everywhere, and there must have been over 100 brands. They looked cool, they sounded great (any carbureted Harley EVO or aftermarket copy is going to sound great with the right exhaust system) but there wasn't a single one I had any desire to own. They were mostly built for show only, not to be actually ridden. Some of them didn't have enough ground clearance for even a really wide turn without dragging the frame. Being a cable operated clutch, it may be out of adjustment, and it may actually be designed to raise engine rpms a bit to help prevent unskilled riders from stalling. With all the safety trash and "rider aids" they are putting on bikes these days, it wouldn't surprise me a bit. I would NEVER use an LED headlight, on ANY vehicle. I have had to wear sunglasses at night to keep from being blinded by those things. They should be illegal. I wonder how many accidents they have caused? I would never ride a bike with ABS. I started riding at age 8 on a small dirt bike, I have been riding on the street for almost 47 years, owned over 50 bikes, ridden over a million miles, I know how to use brakes. I also bypass the clutch and sidestand nanny switches. Overall I like the looks of the Fury. It doesn't have the sound and feel of an actual Harley engine (pre M8) for some reason Japanese manufacturers never tried to make an engine that had that special sound and feel. I love the fact that it is reliable, rideable, reasonably comfortable, has shaft drive, but there is just way too much black on it. It need chrome bars, silver wheels and fork lowers, etc. Early Furys had a lot more bright parts, and looked a lot better. I think all they make now is that effn ABS model, and the lines, hoses, and fittings completely ruin that nice clean open area under the front of the tank. The only objection I really have to the instrument panel is the digital part, though I actually do prefer round instruments. I have a 1989 Harley FXRS Low Rider, a 2001 Sportster 1200C, and a 2006 Sportster 1200L. The 1989 FXRS was my first Harley, bought in 2003. Both Sportsters were bought in the past 10 years, because I found them in almost new condition at a great price. All three of them have bright shiny paint and tons of chrome. As far as cruiser type bikes go, I don't ever see myself riding anything but older Harleys, and the ones I already have should easily last me the rest of my riding life.

thats what make it "Authentic" kind of...... which is something I dont like also, Like most bobbers and cruisers. If they changed it some people that are all hardcore blah blah get angry. I'm just use to the tank light coming on by now and knowing I still have like 40 miles left. The most I pushed my bike was filling at 150miles and that was 2.9 gallons So I could have pushed even more.

Not that I disagree with your opinion, however I’m from the old school side of bikes should show what they have. Hate the all blackout cheap look. The wheels are as ugly as sin. Rather polish them out, chrome them or add wire spoke wheels. Chrome handle bars with polished upper controls. The fat wheel needs more than ugly black paint. Show off the fat rim with the polished look. The barrels should stay black with polished fins. Exhaust has too be changed. The stock look sucks. Plenty after market that look the part and sound great. Bike manufacturer seem to take the cheap blacked out look which is cheaper to produce. Chrome or polished out cases would look better for this style of bike. Who knows Honda might sell more Fury’s if they dump the black murdered look. The bike is pretty much a custom bike factory made, no chopper here. I’ve seen a few Fury’s cleaned up with out the black paint and to the average guy, they think it’s a Harley custom until they read the fine print. Not bad for a Honda.

The term chopper originally applies to a motorcycle that has been physically altered from the factory thru re designing and fabrication by "chopping" things off and changing or adding others. If it's factory it's not a chopper. A long front end is only a small part of the definition. Damn kids learn some history would ya.

She's a beauty for sure...great and unique aesthetic. Decent 'street' performance for a relaxing cruiser that won't break the bank, is utterly reliable, easy to live with and, did I mention...that the styling is drop dead gorgeous. I'm seriously toying with the idea of adding to my stable...

What camera are you using ? The start of the video almost looks 3D. I own an Android and a Panasonic point and Shoot, but I'm guessing this is an iPhone ? Supposedly they have the best camera of most any camera, except for $$$$ cameras. Cool bike by the way. I thought they looked silly when I first saw them (EDIT :The first one I saw was canary yellow), but riders friggen' LOVE them.

The Fury is a cool bike. It handles well for what it is, it has power. It's a single pin crank so a properly designed 2into1 exhaust should add a few horses with a retune.

The fury is THE best chopper you can buy, if your goal is to ride your chopper for more than 10 minutes before it break you! Joking aside. Ihave had a 2012 on the road for 10 years. Even after buying an Indian Chieftaini could not stand to let go of the fury, its such a good bike for the money and it gets way more attention than any other bike ive ever ridden.
