Existence isn't missing from essential definitions, it's implicit. There are no bare particulars and no free-floating essences. Real dollars I can spend. That's the definition of money: it can buy things. Imaginary dollars can't do that, they don't exist. The essence of anything is what it does (or perhaps whatever it is that gives it the power to do what it does) 12:35
