The founding members of Heilung are from Germany, Denmark and Norway. They use a lot of languages in their songs btw (German, English, Gothic, Old High German, Icelandic, Latin, Old English, Proto-Norse, Proto-Germanic, and Viking age Old Norse). A lot of inspiration for the songs and the music is drawn from old runic inscriptions; the instruments are hand-crafted and like instruments that might have been used in the early Middle Ages.

This group is no accident...despite what they may say in interviews. They have a deep understanding of esoteric and occult knowledge. Bringing that knowledge to the masses is beautiful...why their music resonates with millions.

Paganism has absolutely nothing to do with the occult, but rather a connection with nature...Ie in this instance Mother Nature. Nowhere are they celebrating the occult.

you won't find subtitles for this if i remember right its proto-Germanic and the lyrics are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries ...

Wonderful reaction. So Heilung is pronounced like "High-Loong" (like "ooh"). And Anoana like "Ah-No-Ah-Nah". I'll be traveling to Europe in September, and it just so happens they'll be playing in Stuttgart. Needless-to-say, I got tickets. ;)

On other reactions I have watched, I have seen people comment with what they *claim* are translations to this piece. I always found it funny that those people claim to have translated this into something meaningful, when the people who wrote it didn't even know the meaning of the words, except for one. Even if the individual words had been translated since then, it would be highly improbable that the words being song would have been put in an order so that the translated piece would make sense. Here is a short clip with the members of Heilung, and Maria talking a bit about the lyrics. HEILUNG - "Anoana" - Behind the Music: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mp3TkJ6prbajmLs

Correct. Not indian or native American nor African, it's early Nordic. Apparently we caucasians have tribes too. Mostly lost to history. But they're trying to bring it back.

Diving into some Northern European pre-Christian era music. Awesome. Takes us back in time. Designed as a trance inducing spiritual experience. A powerful statement of womanhood. However, not quite that powerful. It only represent the willingness to take on the challenge that life presents. Like you battling through your sore throat. Be well Tiff! 🙏🙏Oops, mums the word. 👌🏻🌹🌹🦋🦋

Exactly, you pretty much nailed it. Heilung performs their music ritually. I'm sure others will suggest looking at the 2017 Castlefest life performance so you can see their stage act. Yes, they ARE unique and better live than their studio recordings. All 3 founding members are connected to their ancient pagan roots. The lyrics are meant to be enjoyed without necessarily understanding the words. So much of the video references things lost to our modern world. For instance, the main character who has been searching for her spirit animal throughout the video merges with the musk ox. Her destiny for good or evil is not set which is why her mother was crying right after birth. It's a really interesting band. Good reaction.

Pre-Christian Europeans had a very similar relationship to Nature and life in general as any other pre-Christian culture, irrespective of their ethnic group or geographical location. This fact is surprising to many people today who typically associate a close relationship to nature only with First Nations people in North and South America, Polynesians, or Australian Aboriginals. Heilung (which means healing) creates music that focuses on the pre-Christian Germanic and Nordic cultures.

I will be sending you some more of these in the future. I think the more you listen, the more you'll understand and love it. I think all music comes from One Source. If you listen to ancient music, whether it's American Native or Russian native or Chinese native or whatever native, it is all similar with a deep basic beat for Mother Earth

In all countries, on all continents, ancient tribes believed in the spirits of nature. Shamanism still exists in the first nations of america, africa, asia, oceania, but had almost disappeared in europe. But nowadays, some new paganist "tribes" are being re-founded in europe, far from the wrong "values" of modern life...
@larryc38602 ай бұрын
Heilung ( "Healing" ) call their music Amplified History, an so it is......singing in authentic or imagined protoScandinavian or protoEuropean dialects, their music is hypnotizing.....they make many of their instruments and costumes.....Maria becomes a pre-Christian shaman when she sings ( in a good way )......I think the shocking ending shows Anoana merging with the ox in a perpetuation of nature's circle of life.......
