i just saw an interview with Maria and she was saying that Kai, the male vocal. (I dont know how to spell his name.. lol) eats mushrooms to enter into the spirt world or to communicate with the gods. I forget exactly what she called it. Then afterwards he sits down with them and describes the emotions and what he saw and heard while tripping and they turn that into music.

Yes, and great when you trip and the veil is broken, and you see for once, that something real lives in this music. Rather than all the religious drivel in the world. These songs felt like healing "spells" that you actually feel repairing something deep inside.

@@timothymcgrath2937well, Heilung are pagan; and the real thing too - they're not people just dabbling in it, or just in it for the "look" or "style". They do indeed tap into the real thing; and it sure shows! And yeah it is absolutely fantastic to enjoy while on a trip...largely because it is so real, and so spiritually magical (and such phenomenal skill, spiritual or not!) I've been pagan myself for a long time now, and they're like hearing my own soul and everything dearest to me in musical ritual form - and I do usually end up with Heilung every time I use nature's best tool for going beyond the veil and for healing oneself 🍄

SATOR can be translated from latin as ploughman, planter or sower. AREPO means plow in the Gallic language, TENET can mean "he holds in his power" or "maintains". OPERA means work or care, ROTAS means wheel, rotation or cycle in latin.

@@Linnie___ True, but this in itself is believed to be a shortened version of the name of an Egyptian god, hidden and coded. If you think about the other words of the Sator square it already references Sowing -Sator to plant or sow. If the gallic word is used we have the translation - Sow, Plow, Sustain, Work, Cycle . Basically the eternal Cycle of growing the food to sustain a community which would have been central to most communities of this era. The Gallic word could have been learned through the tin trade with what we now know as the British isles, an important component of Bronze. The gallic people and Rome had a long and turbulent history after this era too and it could have been added at any time.

This is just genius!! Being actually mezmerized by the part from 11:57, I couldn't help but transcribe it by ear. And it turns out not only the melodies are symmetrical on the time axis (same melody backwards and forwards), but also the three (?) different voices are symmetrical on the pitch axis (same melody pattern on the first and third voice, but mirrored upsidedown, second voice is just a drone - meaning the pitch stays the same.). This is literally a historic masterpiece. I also love how the Germanic and Latin lyrics meet and mirror at the word PAX (peace). To me as someone with Germanic and Romance origin, this is really a whole new level of intergenerational healing (HEILUNG).
@shiveringisles35092 жыл бұрын
Yeah PAX is emphasized with the way it is written but it doesn't exactly mirror, because the first 6 lines are Germanic, 2 lines of Latin then PAX and continues with Latin then the final line is an abbreviation of what is originally Hebrew letters, with the last word I think is Germanic. Still damn cool and I love both the melodies.

Today I took a midnight walk to this music, along a nice, varied route that I take nearly every day. The clouds were being blown wildly across the sky, but it was perfectly still on the level I was walking, and so the landscape was glowing from the full moon at irregular intervals. I was just about to head into the forest, when at about the 08:05 mark of this song, both layers of clouds aligned and let the moon shine through, making me stop to look. This persisted for about two minutes before clouds returned, but I was already transfixed and just kept staring. And then at 11:55, the wind that had been whipping those clouds through the sky finally hit the ground, nearly blowing my jacket off my shoulders. For a few minutes, magic was real.

When thinking about why Heilung is so special my best assumption is this: People have a need for love and company, food and drink, fun and mourning, and much more. But in a modern World, where materialism is central to many things we do with our time, our craving for spirituality is utterly neclected, Heilung offers you that in a diffuse way. Its not a ritual or prayer. Its not one special Anthem or a choir of belivers singing. Its more of a primordial, utterly holistic web of sounds that entangles you and tries pull something out of you, wich is as much deeply rooted in your genes as it is in your immortal Soul and Spirit. Thats really an unmatched achievement in my book.

Is it just me, or once the chanting of the Sator-Arepo-Tenet-Opera-Rotas words comes I instantly chant it together with the song? I also felt some kind of energy flowing when I first caught myself chanting the words of the song. Thank you Heilung for this piece too, and for helping me in my journey with your songs. As an artist I can tell, your music inspires me to create a world of fantasy with interesting characters based on the atmosphere of these songs. Not to mention, ever since I've heard the previous albums I got interested in other ancient cultures and dug them in details. :) I'm still speechless whenever I hear any of your songs. Hope to see you live someday! Take care and keep up the great work, your music is unlike anything I've heard before!

Heilung just created a villain-theme-track of the most terrifying version of an immortal, all powerful deity. Thank you. I will continue writing my novel now

Heilung one more time surpass my expectations (and they are so high) and guys, you make something magical, brutal, original... This next album is a masterpiece like the other albums but this one with a different point of view maybe, and with a different soul but keeping the essence. Thank you a lot for doing music, guys you save my mind and me.

The beginning is like someone praying for protection, at the end the scream is like a demon being exorcised and driven out by the power of Sator square words

nothing short of incredible. i never expect anything less from heilung; they ALWAYS exceed my expectations by far! this song is fucking incredible. amazing. spell-binding. trance-inducing. like all of their pieces, it transports you to another time and place. i always feel like i belong when i listen to heilung. like, being with them, in that time, even for a moment, is where i truly belong. i am genuinely in fucking AWE of their musical genius and talent. i also particularly enjoyed the beginning with the children chanting with presumably kai (or christopher, ofc). it was so different to how their songs usually begin, in that it had that added element of children's innocence. it was amazing. this entire song is amazing. i could truly rant about it for DAYS on end

How bout we rant about it in this thread til day's end? That song is absolutely brilliant

IMO the children’s chanting is an innocent and symbolic prelude to the mind game of the deep and cosmic significance of the magic square . Heilung have composed an ode to universal symmetry based on musical emotions. This is a powerful achievement.

Danke.

Just like how the sound of inhalation on Anoana captivated my attention, the breathing in Asja is strangely comforting, now Maria's exhalations on Tenet.. her alternating between trills or something like ululation, herding calls, and 'groaning' out long drawn notes with an exhalation is beyond words.. The sudden transition at 3:45, encapsulated by two melodic parts which also works reversed, derived with a code system created from the Sator Square.. they really pulled it off.
