Okay I absolutely love this conversation the Old Norse being sang is known as the washing verse and in English it says I wash my hands of my enemies hatred the greed and wrath of powerful men. The Old Norse we know today is based on the 12th century Icelandic reconstruction of the language so yes you would be correct in saying Icelandic is the closest relative to the Old Norse language in the fact that it's where a dead language was reconstructed so normally there would be Icelandic influences in the New Old Norse language

@@ZmeevArthur Maybe (just from listening over and over), it's part of the Fáfnismál, the infamous stanza #16 or 17 where the 'helm of awe/terror' is mentioned? I hear this part: "bar ek of alda sonum, meðan ek of menjum lák; einn rammari hugðumk öllum vera, fannk-a ek svá marga mögu." You are right though, coming from two different eddas they don't make literal sense together, but more sense as a 'theme' being one of ultimate protection. Then fourth I will chant thee, If come thy foes On the gallows-way against thee: Into thine hands Shall their hearts be given, And peace shall the warriors wish. Then fifth I will chant thee, If fetters perchance Shall bind thy bending limbs: O'er thy thighs do I chant A loosening-charm, And the lock is burst from the limbs, And the fetters fall from the feet. Then sixth I will chant thee, If storms on the sea Have might unknown to man: Yet never shall wind Or wave do harm, And calm is the course of thy boat. I’m Puerto Rican with Spanish and Taino ancestry with small splashes from other areas of the world. Music like this, I find myself drawn to the most. It is so calming and yet can get the heart beating with it. I feel so much from this kind of music. The chant-like vocals, the percussion and vibrating sounds gives me so much. I do not even understand the language and yet I feel like I get so much out of listening to this.

I had my first experience with plant medicine listening to Heilung and more specifically a spiritual awakening. I normally don't leave comments but I wanted to get a few things out there to whomever runs this channel. 1 - I love the texture each song has on the low end, the little noises and sounds are enthralling and mesmerizing. 2 - This evokes something in me I cannot fully describe yet, I hope with time I find the words. 3 - The Cosmic Serpent loves that I love this music.

To Heilung, thank you for what you have given to me and so many of us, it is truly remarkable. Your songs strike at the very core and I can't help investing emotionally in your music and look forward to what you create next. Apologies for this segway .... ___________________________________________________________________ There's never an EMP around when you need one! The world needs to SHUTUP and listen, everyone wants to talk, everyone wants to be right, the problem is you're not learning anything by being so closed off or not prepared to understand different perspectives. We have become so 1 dimensional it's scary. There is beauty, grace, power, and mystery in the world even today, the problem is everyone is to busy making a noise as if our voices and opinions actually mean shit! Music like this and others like it is deeper than all of the superficial and fake illusions that certain people want you to focus on to keep you distracted so we don't pay attention to what's really going around. The sad fact is that most of the voices who think they know anything about whatever they have seen, even if for 5 minutes believe that they actually can add any value to creative minds or groups only end up crushing spirits. Why don't THEY rather pick up an instrument and give it a go and then maybe they'll have some experience to leverage against and give meaningful insight. Here's a hint, you don't have to understand something to enjoy it. I have no idea of they are saying but it still has a voice and still runs deep, like it's in your blood, almost ancestral. Don't spoil it for the rest of us. Instead, why not say Thank You if you like it, IF NOT SHUT UP or even just leave a MEH and then move on if it's not for you. You will notice that those who make the most noise i.e only troll without any constructive criticism, are the same individuals who can't make decisions for themselves and want other people to TELL THEM what to do because they are SO AFRAID of putting themselves out there. Being exposed for all the world to see, takes courage but we understand that it's easier to sit alone somewhere, hiding in a hole, with a real understanding of anything other than flipping a switch to make something work, thinking "I GOT THE POWER". I actually feel sorry for you being so hollow, in that you have nothing to offer GAIA when your time on this plain is over.

Everytime I hear Heilung, Danheim, Wardruna and all thoose who share this beautiful songs, it's always a pain for me to think that I'm forced to stay here in Italy surrounded by only things that I hate. I love the Northern part of Europe. Is my dream to reach those places and end my life there. These songs are too powerful and made me understand what I really want for me. I'm only 18 years old and this is the only music that I love listening and the only music that makes me feel incredibly alive, but at the same time the distance between me and the places from which all this was born makes me feel incredibly out of place and alone. There is nothing worse than being forced to call home what does not make you feel at home.
