Arcane was a godsend to every champion in it. It made Donger and Jayce actual people and turned Jinx from "the Harley Quinn knockoff" into a walking dissertation on mental illness and trauma.

​@@pokemonlover4894 i think it did a lot for vik because it actually humanizes who he was before he turned himself into a machine. making you sympathize with the terminally ill frail man who fought so hard to get where he was and to have people constantly overlook him make his transformation so much more striking. i hope he goes full machine herald in S2 because watching him lose it after losing his body, Sky (and possibly more in the jinx rocket explosion) and his tech to the last people he would want to have his tech would be really cool and show how much he is disconnected from humans and his own humanity and empathy after having nothing left

​@@pokemonlover4894i mean like before arcane was canonized it was supposed to be an au, and in terms of new lore it did add a lot to the existing characters barring the old stories. jinx losing her two "brothers" and vi with them actually gives a reason for jinx to go psychotic and be that crazy/ill instead of manic pixie dream girl, and viktor being seen as human actually makes it so that his eventual robotic transformation is more impactful. arcane was building up characters so that when they fall, it hits like a brick. also caitlyn being half asian i didnt notice/dont think thats a big deal. arcane's big thing was uniting the characters in piltover/zaun together and actually connecting their lore, because before it was only really cait, vi and jinx that had connections, and giving them interactions with the rest of the region like some of riots other projects like mageseeker, ruined king etc interconnects the characters more in terms of having a coherent region story even if it isnt perfectly canon or changes existing lore (riot rewriting lore or making lore not connect flawlessly is certainly not new)

Heimerdinger has been my main ever since my second game of League 6 years ago, and I will say that he's definitely more nuanced than you're thinking, imho. You have to manage how many turrets you have, where you're gonna place them because they will inherently affect how the wave will push, you have to be early to every fight so you can control the right zones at the right times, know how to use turrets effectively against champions that outrange them, learn the one (1) combo (putting a turret down while the E is in the air so the turret will do a super shot as soon as the E lands), which ult is best at which time... I love this character so much and I wouldn't have found my love for League (or just playing zoners in general) without him :)

I’d still like for Hiemerdinger and Ziggs to have history seeing as they are the representatives of Piltover and Zaun. I think the two should have been the genius duo of Piltover in its early days until Ziggs had an idea for an invention that Heimerdinger thought was too dangerous. Ziggs believed that as long as they stuck together they would be fine but Heimerdinger put his foot down and left. Ziggs would press on, resulting in a great explosion that would get him kicked out of Piltover. During the trial Ziggs would be obsessed with the idea that if Heimerdingger had just helped him there never would have been an explosion. Heimerdinger would see Ziggs as a dangerous fool while Ziggs would see Heimerdinger as a prissy traitor who didn’t stand by him when he needed him most. This reflects how Piltovans generally see Zaunites and vice versa. I could imagine that after Heimerdinger gets kicked out of Piltover, the two are reunited and would slowly work through their issues with Ziggs apologizing for not heeding Heimerdinger’s advice and Heimerdinger apologizing for not standing by him when he needed him most back in the lab. With the two geniuses reunited and presumably some great threat escalating at the end of this hypothetical story, the two would redo the original experiment resulting in the creation of the T Hex which they would together ride into battle!

Heimer is actually really skill expressive, sure you can do sweet fa and have your turrets still do stuff. But with his bomb and rockets both with unique firing and interactions to fully utilise his kit you have to be good at fucking with people and their possitioning, zhonya’s is also your best friend. Heimer is more like shaco than Malz as you have to plan ahead, set up and then execute your plan with the added difficulty of needing to hit your skill shots consistently.

Honestly Heimer being a Yordle Scientist doesn't confuse me as science is not merely an aesthetic or set of things (like say technology) but rather a methodology to understand the world around us. While magic may not be normal to the laws and physics of our world, it is to Runeterra. Therefore, I could see the people of Runeterra hypothesizing and studying magic's properties (as Piltover does.) Essentially, magic is so integral to Runeterra that observing its presence is science in itself. They are not mutually exclusive. Notice that whenever Piltover brings up hextech, they do not say it's a combination of science and magic but rather TECHNOLOGY and magic. That being said, I still love the idea of magic being incomprehensible and chaotic no matter how much humans try to comprehend its power (i.e. I hate when everyone feels like they NEED to make magic make sense when that's counterintuitive to making it feel fantastical.) I also love your idea of Yordles using magic to make technology work where non-magical technology would fail. Perhaps this could tie into Heimer being one of the few Yordles to actually question how magic works and thus scientifically studying and then being more hesitant once he realizes it's harder to study than he thought. Perhaps he sticks to non-magical technology because it's more sensible and easier to control as it's something science has already figured out unlike magic. Basically, science is a method of understanding the world around you, not technology itself. Therefore, observing & studying magic is a science in of itself making Heimer a Yordle scientist not actually that paradoxical. However, I think magic should be something that's not understood as making understood undercuts it's fantastical nature + it would give Heimer still reason to fear magic as it's the one thing science has not understood + make his determined to so meticulously and carefully study it over decades while other Yordles are like "laws of physics? Eh fuck that! I'll just use magic to make my machine work!" without a care in the world.

inherently understood magic dosen't mean magic dosen't retain it's volitility. Take Luna's mother (from HP) for example: someone *experimenting* with magic, which winds up with her dead. The same *type* of magic, which's rules and nature is understood, studied, and tought to students. Yet it is still untrustable, even if understood. Are there safer methods? yes. Can everyone acess/afford the safer method? No...or not consistently.... And with that, you got yourself a reason for why people still use things they don't fully understand (despiration/need of doing), in a setting where that something is already understood through methodology (see magic being tought and theorised about), which still retains it's volitility, it's limitlessness, while also being understood through a lens of science (in a sense anyway). but yes, in most cases, not fully understanding magic is a positive.

I think a creature than can magically will anything into existence deciding that rhis is to easy and instead becomes a scientist to understand every touch of science so he can build something from scratch WITHOUT cheat magic sounds quite endearing to me. Just like humans have a machine that DOESN'T work and we turn to science to find the mistake in the blueprint, a magical creator would start to search why all his work DOES work and then turn to science to find every nook and cranny he has to pull our his pesky cheat code magic. I love that odea tbh.

Excessive ramble in a diffrent comment aside, i was mostly gonna say....playstyle definately wearies depending on matchup, and weather he's taken to top or mid. Taking him with Conc. and baiting people to try and run the gauntlet of trying to kill you while breaking them down with rockets, nades and autos is the most fun i've had with people. The idea of just not enguaging with people who don't want to fight you is simply good. When looked through the lens of a 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 type champ, heim can stand his ground quite effectively, so either people are sent and come to compete with him, or he gets to push lanes for free. If the game state is possibly equal in terms of kills, forcing the enemies to decide between trying to handle you in a 2v1 with a jungler, or try taking your midlaner, you can pretty easily push you lane opponent out of lane, and off of farm.

when i played league for the first time.. heimer was the first champion i save to buy. in that times he was so busted, is Q autotargeted enemies, is grenades could hurt the lane Turrets and is mini turrets outrange the lane turrets too, is pasive was a HP regeneration Aura that CAN heal your Lane Turrets... it was ridiculous!!!

It definately is just machinist bias...but for me, Heimer was the first character i actually gravitated tords and grabbed when i got into league. His gameplay loop made me feel smarter when i actually got kills, and helped me with my only gameplan....pushing the enemy out of lane. Usually took him top, despite how many people would shout sacrelige for doing so. Lore wise....i don't really see what they could do with him. He, as most Yordles do, embodies the region they are from. The arcane "fear of magic" to me only seems to come from the world runes, and how, by his views, "unintelligent, but powerful" *people* is what caused the ishue, not the runes themself, but given he dosen't want to inspire anyone to go after magic of any type, he made *magic* as a whole be the signaled ishue. The whole speach during jayce's trial, despite how much it was against magic....i coulden't help but feel like it was more like: Heimer targetting Jayce with the accusation of being irresponsible, while handling such a dangerous force. For me, Heim is the character that wants you to play smarter then your enemy, using your tools that only you, and a few others have, to win fights you usually can't. Like how i, and many others use him to bait a jungle gank....to make the laner feel brave enough to take you, while baiting him along the turrets for as long as humanly possible. Lore wise....i'd like to see him slowly either realise magic itself isn't the ishue, but the people using it irresponsibly....OR embrace the more tech-sided bit of Piltover, and try and expand his machinery to compete with full magic....maybe even possibly dabbling in magic himself, slowly realising the true potentual, and looking back on his past to see that magic...*wasn't* in fact the ishue in that equasion.

I'm not a main per say, but you can call me a Heimer enthusiast and about the gameplay... I have no idea how to defend it, it's just about preference. He is a fun guy, in Arcane he's better, but he's charming in his own way. Also the funniest thing about him is that one of his polish (at least I think it's only in polish translation) voice lines canonizes France in Runneterra universe.

I commented this last time, but I want to say it again. Ork engineering doesn't work like that. The power of ork belief exists, but its effects are vastly overstated. The interpretation that all their equipment shouldn't work comes from AdMech propaganda. Their scrap vehicles are actually engineered quite well. Mekboyz (Ork engineers) have an innate understanding of how to make working machinery from almost anything, the waaagh just helps it along a bit. The Waaagh energy doesn't make something from nothing the way you are saying.
