if i remember right they were used in that way even by alex so yeah thats their purpose to have a great sword infantry that throws some javelins

Look at the description it says that the Peltast sort of evolved in it's use from armoured javelin men to armoured swordsmen with javelins.

They're somewhat a prototype of what evenutally evolved into Roman legionares if you think about it.

@@TheChazz1225 Yup, by the time of Macedonian wars, "Peltasts" were only full-time pro soldiers in the army of Macedon, they fought like legionaires and served much like praetorians.

Originally peltasts was a dude with little armor a big shield some javelins and a long stick. Their job was to throw javs at the hoplites and if needed poke at them with their longer than the hoplite's stick and run away very fast if they focus them. Then it evolved to a more armoured dude with a big shield, a sword, and javelins. They became skirmishers who can charge flanks if needed. After that they became heavily armoured swordsmen with big shields and some javelins

it would be awsome if CA will give pikeman a projectile deflect ability. historical speaking their pikes were good at deflecting projectiles.

shileds are better at that,i think that shield units should have higher defense to missiles than pikes

Alexander of Macedon did in fact lose a war in history before he became King and set off campaigning against the Persians he campaigned in Illyria and lost.

Longbow Hunters have like 38 missile damage 165 range i believe

You're right. Longbow hunters should have at least the same range. Longbows where famous for their accuracy and power over long distance if i'm not wrong.

I just dont get it..why do Rocks have a better Armour pircing than arrows ? It was one of the big downsides from slings, they wasnt that usefull against armours! o_Ô

it is the same reason a mace was so effective vs plate armor. It will always transfer its energy into the armor and dent it where as an arrow would be very effective if given the right angle and pierce but it would deflect just as much as well if not given the right angle.

yacucu1 Not really. If you look at some of the reconstructions, people found rocks fired from slings actually did little to no damage, especially to armor. However, the morale drain of hundreds of stones flying at you was considered greater than arrows, which could be shot at a lesser frequency. Also, something which is not accurately portrayed in Total War, with a little bit of moving about and standing about they could refill their pouches with "ammo" from the very floor they were standing on.

***** Alexander the great did indeed have Elephants in his army, the first of which was captured at Gaugamela. However, I cannot find any battle where he used them, though one could assume he did. The Diadochi however (mainly the Seleucid) did use them frequently, as did the Carthaginians (and Epirus to a lesser extent.)

I think Alexander did but he did not use them in battles. He thought they where too unreliable

I wouldn't be too sure remember the trade from India was still going strong through the Kybar Pass and the mountains were called the Hindu Kush was means Hindu killer. India sparked Alexander's interest so he must of known some people who been to India and a careful tactician like him would not of dived in recklessly into a region with wealth that surpassed Europe just because Elephants were not really a great addition to his army that he moved with doesn't mean they were not used. Alexander was resourceful so it would not surprise me if some of his generals and allies used them in skirmishes and flanking battles or some similar capacity.

Nope, Darius had them at Gaugamela (about 15 if i remember correctly), but he didn't use them. After the Persian army lost, Alexander apparantly captured the elephants.
