I think Ace explained why he's hunting Blackbeard back in Alabasta. Blackbeard was on Whitebeard's ship, specifically under Ace's command. He killed another crewmember and jumped ship. He's not known probably because he was under Whitebeard's umbrella of notoriety. But he was tough enough to be on Whitebeard's ship so that's why he's a strong unknown guy. It's similar to why Luffy isn't known yet. There just hasn't been enough time for them to gather that kind of fame by themselves

@@apoorvsingh3395 At this point in the story, Bellamy is a representation of a lot of pirates who've traveled out to sea in search of One Piece or other big dreams, only to come up empty handed. So they settle down and settle for less, and try to feel better about themselves by continually mocking the pirates that still dream big. Hence the name "Mock Town" where they find him. All the while telling themselves that these dreams don't make sense logically or scientifically, despite knowing that the Grand Line has it's own crazy logic.

Just a heads up heisuten. Once a pirate becomes a warlord, their bounty is frozen since they now work for the government. So if a pirate is a warlord for years, their strength is way higher than what their last bounty was.

But in that sense, I'm sure the portugal/brazil duality is one of the most often portraited, because of the deep roots in sailing history (alongside with Spain) If you're curious about more references, there's a city in India that used to be one of the biggest portuguese tradeposts and it's called Goa.

Blackbeard's intro is one of the best introductions to a character I've ever seen and speaks volumes about Oda's genius as a writer. With 2 short and simple scenes one of comedy and one more serious Oda already tells us a lot about Blackbeard The first time we see it It's in a comical scene where he and Luffy fight over food. Luffy doesn't like cherry pie from the bar Blackbeard thinks it's the best cherry pie he's ever had There they both look at each other... Then they both taste the drink Luffy loves the bar drink Blackbeard hates the bar drink Then the confrontation begins Blackbeard asks Luffy if something is wrong with his tongue and Luffy responds by asking Blackbeard if something is wrong with his head. From there they both start a childish fight to see who asks for more food to take away All of this says a lot with so little interaction Luffy and Blackbeard are opposites in many things but also very similar Blackbeard then asks Luffy his reward and when he tells him Blackbeard is outraged and says he is a liar. To which Luffy replied that it is not true. Blackbeard's dialogue when he sees Luffy's current bounty clarifies why Blackbeard thought Luffy was lying He didn't call him a liar for thinking that Luffy was inflating his bounty. He called him a liar because from that first interaction Blackbeard felt a great spirit in Luffy and thought that the reward that Luffy told him was very low From there then we jump to the scene where Blackbeard says his monologue Blackbeard says sky island exists People have dreams and they will never stop chasing them Blackbeard like Luffy believes in dreams and recognizes the will of people to follow them Luffy and Blackbeard are very similar but also opposite You realize already Luffy has helped kingdoms, supported friends, and defeated villains. Blackbeard, on the other hand, is a traitor, destroys kingdoms and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his dream. Monkey D. Luffy "straw hat" AND Marshall D.
