I _love_ Helen Forrest! I'm most familiar with her 1940s recordings -- as the girl singer with Harry James, and in her wonderful duets with Dick Haymes. This is the first time that I've actually _seen_ her perform. This number is a lot of fun! The first dancer was quite risque for 1951! Thanks for sharing!

This was the Best!!"When she sang about taking her sister to the burlesque show... I fell off the couch arm. It reminded me of that episode of "The Waltons" when Grampa takes the boys to see Jason play the piano at his job. He's working at a burlesque show. I still watch the reruns. That was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up. It still is. Great day today! I got my donuts too!! Thank you for sharing! 💖 I always enjoy reading them.

Love hearing how the audience begins clapping before she is half-way through her last note. Her breath control was rarely surpassed.

Apparently Louis Armstrong wrote this song when he was young. He met a man in the music business who had him sell the song for $50! He sure learned his lesson about copyright when the song became a hit.

Absolutely hear no connective tissue between this version & the Beatles version other than they both have the word "shimmy" in them.

That's because the Beatle's version is a different song called Shimmy like Kate. It is based on this one but an entirely different song by a band called the Olympics. You can find the original on KZbin.
