I'm a huge fan of Russell but he doesn't compare to Brian. Brian has everything Russell has except Brian can actually win consecutively immunity challenges, but most importantly he knew how to act in front of a jury. Russell doesn't really get people, he just plays off their trust and desperation while Brian played on their emotions to get them to like him even though he back stabbed most of them. Brian played such a smooth game... Russell handles jury so badly
@JudeMarchisio7 жыл бұрын
Very true! The contestants Russell played against were butthurt at the end
@nickp39496 жыл бұрын
It's because Russell literally goes "Imma vote you all out, and I'm gonna say I'm better than you cuz I am, now where's my million?". That's where he's 100% wrong. Brian said it on the show and he's said it in interviews, Survivor is a SOCIAL game about PEOPLE. It's NOT a strategy game. Sure, there are elements of it that are very strategic, absolutely, but at its core, Survivor is a social game. You cannot win Survivor without a social game, it is 100% impossible, because it is a social game. Look at any winner, from someone great like Brian or Kim...all the way to someone weak like Jenna or Michelle. The one thing they had in common was that they ALL had a good social game, or at least a better social game than the person sitting next to them.
@fopod495 жыл бұрын
I don’t like Russell either, but let’s not pretend Brian was a master of Jury management. He almost lost to one of he biggest goats of all time. He had 0 connections to anyone on the jury, all of the votes he got were against Clay, not for him

Russell has no chance in a season without idols. Brian made it in a season without idols and i'm pretty sure he can survive in a season with idols.
@iamjp14 жыл бұрын
Okay... a cop has no chance in a world without guns. First of all, Brian never played in a season with idols and Russel (much like literally most survivor players) never played a season without them. No use to make a comparison without either of them having experience in that environment. You can say Russel wouldn’t have had a chance. You might be right. But guess what, survivor has played with idols MUCH before Russel played. An idol is a tool. You don’t necessarily need it, but it damn sure helps. Russel played the way he did cause he knew he could bank on finding the idol. He is the best of all time in terms of idol searches and that’s not even debatable. He is the entire reason people to this day go searching for idols without a clue. Anyways, I think what you said is just a really silly thing to say. Both are two of the best to do it. Russel could have found a way to be the puppet master in Samoa without idols. That’s just Russel

Survivor Thailand is the first that I started to see and it is the reason I was in love 💖 with that television show. With all the backstabbing going on, that sure was exciting, exhilarating, and so treacherous you never knew what was going to happen next. It did not take much to feel for the members that were elected to be on this show knowing full well many of them were going to be kicked out. You truly felt sorry for all of them. Because in the end, it can only be two people labeled as the options to be the winner of that million dollars, and only one of them was going to walk away a winner. Brian Heidek was the best Survivor there ever was. Not only did he make it to the final two, but he was the only person ever to go on this show and never be voted out at a tribal council!

Brian v Russell is like comparing a bow to a shotgun. Both will get the job done, but they are from very different eras. Back then we didn't see the type of strategic gameplay we see today, mostly because of the inclusion of idols and people could still play the 'I did more around camp' card. But Russell has said he doesn't consider the juries opinion when he plays - so I think Brian would have a slight advantage. He can play people at the end better.

To be fair, this was only the 5th season of Survivor. Back then, lying was something that was really looked down upon. In those early days, the social element of the game was very crucial. Friendships, and owning up to wrongdoings were the keys to getting jury votes. The only way that a liar could win is if they had made the jury members respect them enough to award them the million dollars.
