Hello.. wta. I have a mini star tracker that track the stars rotation using a torsion spring as a counterweight at the axis of rotation which can load 2 kg of counterweight . If i want to the load to carry more say 3kg, which aspect of the torsion spring should i upgrade? More winding, or material use to making the spring?

Which material are you using now? If its high grade then, increasing number of winding will be helpful or else material has to be upgraded.

@@ProfSDBagg im not sure which material they use as its a commercially available mechanical star tracker that tracks the rotation of the stars. The tortion spring is used as a counterweight so that camera equipment of 2kg can be put on the tracker. I want to put heavier devices on it say 3kg, which upgrade should i go for? What effect can a tortion spring gave if more winding?
