We are on a new project and we are super excited for this one! We are starting off by installing our helical pile footings and building our deck framing. This deck is nearly 1200 square feet, which will be our largest we've ever done! Make sure to follow along this series as we build!

I bought a Bosch rotary laser level kit that came with that same receiver and hated the thing. I upgraded to one that had a screen with arrows and solid line on it. It's so much nicer to use than the one that came with the kit

Good stuff. Love the projects, info/tips and the helical content. Im still getting my business going in PA but tbh your channel is what I use to show other contractors piles. Still trying to get people past the idea that 3 extra days of work, cement, labor, holes filling with water and inspection delays is the prob not best way to do a footing...lol.

for us in the midwest, it's code to run blocking over the beam. personally I like the rigidity of midspan blocking every 4-6 feet especially with composite decking.
@THEpremieroutdoor
@THEpremieroutdoor Жыл бұрын
interesting! Its definitely better to go overboard with the blocking than not enough!

Hot tip: find your finished floor heights by measuring down from the windows. You will need a tape measure for this.
@THEpremieroutdoor
@THEpremieroutdoor Жыл бұрын
but the sill isn't the same height on both sides, so you have to put a level hanging out both sides of the window, and for that we'd have to track our muddy boots inside!

I enjoy watching your videos. I started during covid and still enjoy them. Q: how would you attached a ledger board on a stucco exterior? All you videos are on homes that don’t have a stucco exterior and I wonder if they would be handled the same. My home builder didn’t remove the exterior and attached the ledger directly in the stucco which seems wrong but that’s how it seems to be done in my area by most builders.
@greghorne8678
@greghorne8678 Жыл бұрын
Properly applied stucco is an excellent building envelope. No sense cutting out for a ledger. The best way to attach a ledger is to space it off about 3/8 so the back and ventilate and lag through the stucco to the house framing with polyurethane sealant in the the lag holes. Much more water proof than a flashed ledger cut into the stucco.

Love your videos man ! The crew, your work and ethic are top notch !! Spending my time on all your videos. If i may ask few questions: Are you using yellow cedar ? is it better than pressure treated ? where do you find it ? Also, how do you find an the helical operator / provider ? Would that also work in a very rocky place? Finally, I had in mind that space recommandation for Trex or deckorators was 12" wide but most of the time you're at 16". Are you using a stronger/less flexible composite ? Thanks again man ! Luv your stuff !! Thanks for all your work !

While I understand the design showed no "structural support" around the fireplace, I don't understand why you would need a triple joist on either side and a quadruple header. I didn't see anything bearing on these areas so why wouldn't doubles be enough?

Does the house wrap count as flashing out there? I've always figured it would be fine but the inspectors here make me cut it out and put vinyl/comparable

no it doesn't count as flashing so we cut it above the ledger and then tuck our metal ledger flashing behind the house wrap
