I like all your videos: As a youngster back in the late 60s early 70s we spent tons of time on horseback in Peck Canyon. We rode with an old time rancher by the name of Douglas Cumming He was a great ol man that taught us kids how to ride and how to spot bobcats and mountain lions . He taught us the way of the land and how to track and evade.

Hey Clint, thanks for that story. I played it for my 95 year old mother this morning. She had horses most of her life, is an Arizona native and really enjoyed it. You did a great job on the set up & presentation.

lol the real equine gold prospectors are burros. Several of the old lost mine stories tell of a stray burro making the original find. An old timer told me years ago that for every month out prospecting, 10 days were spent looking for gold and 20 looking for your burro that wandered off.

Good story. I was half expecting him to say that he got the wrong horse. It's owner was half way up a cliff searching for TLDM when he saw some guy walking his horse away after it had broke loose from where he had tied it up. That would have been funny too. But this story with a happy ending was great. One question though. Who the heck goes into the Superstitions with no provisions? Especially a couple of carrots and sugar cubes to coax the faithful mount. Y'all got lucky on this one. But, I suppose that the helicopter was the ace up your sleeve. Liked and already subscribed.

first i am glad every one is ok,, secondly it is too funny that a deputy and horse are both scared of the night in a desert, theres more that will hurt you in the day time than at night i found,, i miss that most the desert that is i also miss all the people that i met when i lived there
@larryhedrick2543 жыл бұрын
Yooper Mann: back in the 50s, 60s and 70s there were organized mountain lion hunts with dogs to cut down on livestock losses. In the 2000s there was a live den not far from where this horse was found. Mountain lions hunt mostly at night and may account for why the horse had lost a stirrup and was so willing to approach a stranger. Rattle snakes also largely hunt at night. “Discretion is the better part of valor.”
@marhawkman3033 жыл бұрын
@@larryhedrick254 Also, Pit Vipers(such as Rattlesnakes) have heat vision, so they can strike accurately at night... more accurately than you can see them. And well... all cats seem to have great night-vision.... and mountain lions love to pounce on your head. I prefer not being pounced on by 150-pound cats. Also... it might have been a cat that spooked the horse. Hard to say for sure.
