Hey! Great review! As you mentioned scarlet poppy intense London Jo Malone is soft and velvety. Another one similar would be Michael kors wonderlust . I think they both give the same vibe.❤❤ Worth giving them a try!

Do not despair. Every setback happens for a reason in the grand scheme of things. I am in a little of a similar situation, though I am in no hurry to be honest. Keep your standards high (yet realistic) and you’ll find something meant for you. Cheers!

And the only perfume I have that has heliotrope is 7753 unexpected Mona from Histoires de Parfums and it’s a really beautiful green tuberose with some powdery aspects.

Hello Kikki, great video as always. I love Heliotrope myself and very nice one is by Frank Boclet Heliotrope which is very similar to Guerlain L'heure bleu. But my absolutely favourite is Heliotrope by Molinard. Both are fairly inexpensive. Sorry about your job search but something will come your way soon. I will keep my fingers crossed. Hi Kicki, You must try to find a sniff of Grossmith Shem - el- Nessim. I got a 2ml sample and this is so good. This does remind me of L'Heure Bleue in vintage form but I am going to compare them this week. I used to have Coty L'Origan in my collection but just sold both versions I had since I thought it smelled like a cheaper, spicier and dated version of the Guerlain. I read now that it could have been an inspiration for L'Heure Bleue so now I am mad I didn't save a sample to compare them, ugh. I think Grossmith are severely overpriced but well worth sniffing. I also have been trying Amelia, Golden Chypre and I own Hasu no Hana which I got at a great price years ago from an eBay seller in the UAE. oxJulia

Really excited about Grossmith and will make sure to sample them next time I get a chance. Might actually purchase samples with the money from my perfume sales. Am letting a bunch of bottles go, sold 4 today if I include travel size. Am going to move soon.

Oh my gosh; you have never seen someone rush to the Guerlain website and order it so fast I didn't realize you could have it engraved complementary, darn. I love heliotrope as a note and it's a plant that I put in my flower pots in my garden every year so that I can smell it when I'm on the patio. I read that Initio's Psychedelic Love has it (or was it another Initio?). Sofar the only perfume I own with heliotrope is Bulgari Amethyst. Not sure if you'd consider it, as it's designer rather than niche. On a personal note, I have been wondering what your story is, how you ended up in Sweden and why you are job hunting. I am glad you shared this and wish you luck in finding the best path forward for you and your family.

I like Psychedelic Love but not enough to buy a bottle. Am open to designer fragrances too so thank you for the Bulgari tip! I am Swedish! Was born here. My mother is American but I have lived here almost my whole life. My husband passed away 7 years ago and after that I sold my company and got enough out of it to pay off the house and have some more to invest in stocks. I took another job as a CEO for a small company which I couldn't quite handle being an only parent with three school kids, so decided to quit and take some time off since I felt some financial security. After a year, I started looking for jobs and now it has been almost two years. Have been very close to getting a job five times, but never been given an offer for different reasons. My biggest problem is that I am too much of a generalist and have few specific skills. I have run my own company, but I am not an HR Manager or a CFO or a Marketing Manager etc. I would like a managerial position so have been looking out for COO roles, but they often want industry experience and I have also gotten feedback that my two-three years without working has made the employer suspicious.

I am not sure, don’t have much experience with fragrances on men, masculine or feminine leaning. But I know I love Bottega Veneta edp for women on men! Metallique works well on men. But I have been single the whole time that I have been into fragrance and most of the men I meet smell like boring designer perfume😩. I prefer the natural smell of them than the perfumes that they wear😂.

Kicki, you need a job in a niche perfume shop :o) I had to laugh when you mentioned Cow, omg, I got that as a free sample with my Zoologist order for Chameleon and I hated it! I dislike very few perfumes but this one was a total scrubber. I think we share a similar nose for perfumes in some ways. You need to smell Guerlain L'Heure Bleue! Probably you have already. That was the perfume that helped me understand heliotrope way back when. xoJulia

I really do! Laughing about Cow. Glad to hear that someone is on the same page there. Ramsey even sort of liked Cow! I have tried L'Heure Bleue but don't have it clear in my memory. I think my friend has a bottle. Will be sure to try it. Is the current formula any good?

I can't imagine there are a lot of ingredients banned by IFRA in that one, but who knows? Perhaps another commenter here can weigh in? I do have a decant somewhere of L'Heure de Nuit, a modern flanker, but honestly can't even remember if I ever wore it! Lol, too many decants and samples clearly :o(. oxJulia

As I'm watching this, I realized the 5ml decant of Indult My JuJu that arrived yesterday (and was my scent of the day) is a vanillic powder heavy composition by Nathalie Feisthauer as well. I think it has a beautiful scent bubble that seems to fluff around me, and sometimes my nose gets almost "hit" by the powder in a very physical way. Like I've accidently inhaled powdered sugar or baby powder lol. I would like to compare this against other heliotrope fragrances to see if the floaty scent trail is maybe a particular characteristic of the note.. because I am into it!

Have tried Le Regent and really liked it but not enough to buy a bottle. I really hate Relique D'Amour, I think that is from that same house. Smells like old wet bathing suits forgotten in a plastic bag in the sun, haha. Or a moldy old cabin.

Hang in there. The plans you have in place are sound (downsizing, reducing cost of living and distractions). As someone who has suffered from multiple years of periodic but extended unemployment despite high level of education, I know it takes a psychological toll. At the end I had to change fields and geographic location in order to find employment again.

How interesting. Thank you for sharing that. Sweden is too small to start over as someone unknown, I think. But maybe another city would be easier. At least it would give me more options to look at the whole Swedish work market instead of just the Stockholm area. But my son has special needs and I just got him into a school that I think will suit him. It is something to consider.

Did I miss it? No l’heure bleue? I don’t seek out any other heliotrope frags because I have that one. Edp vs edt vs vintage all have their own character. Getting ‘old’ in the job market is scary. I work in a commodity industry that has big ups and downs. Now that I’m nearing 50 I worry about the next set of layoffs. Sounds like your plan to downsize may be where you need to go. Reset your brain. Interesting that this stress has you thinking of/ reaching for the calming peaceful heliotrope note. Let the perfume guide you, hahah.
