I got rear-ended by a mate while riding my Kawasaki Z1000SX and finished up completing a forward somersault in tuck position, landing flat on my back from about 70kph. The "turtle" design locked my helment into position to prevent whiplash. Wearing the Helite meant I walked away without any injuries. Awesome piece of kit. I never ride without it. (Oh, and after checking the jacket and installing a fresh gas bottle, it's good to go again.)

Another advantage is the ballooning around the neck and shoulders limits movement of the helmet and thereby reduces the severity of whiplash injuries.

Nice one James I got to use mine in anger yesterday at Mallory after riding with one for 3 years. I dont have an airbag race suit but shoved it on over my 1 piece and its as close as I can get to an airbag race suit good few sessions on the track then. Next thing Off the bike bang bounce bounce bounce and all ok bit dizzy and a few WTF's. New canister and good to go again. 100% recommend these for any rider airbags work. We never choose when we are going to have a bad moment so best to consider it before it happens and make sure you wear it.

Really appreciate this and the earlier airbag videos. Also good on the gals for volunteering to do the inflation demo as well. My wife has one, as do I, and I think they are really brilliant. The tether is secure and not easily to accidentally activate, and it does not add any discomfort to any of my riding. Cheers from Canada.

Great video! I love that this is self-serviceable. However, do you think the jacket itself is reusable after a crash? If you crash and skid, would there likely be damage to the jacket that keeps it from filling again? It's difficult to tell if it is durable enough for multiple uses.
@MidlandsMotorbikers Жыл бұрын
The jacket its designed for both impact and a raisin resistance - Soft neoprene collar for increased comfort around the neck. - Inner textile 3D mesh to provide maximum ventilation. - High-quality durable external fabric skid tested up to 150mph. - Shower proof.

Would it be detrimental for the functionality of the vest (a k.a. less safe) if you wear a rucksack on top? I like the helite h-moov, but the vest seems to have you better covered (specially around the hips) Also, helite doesn't have an hi-vis h-moov.

what is weird is they include a CE lvl 2 back protector in the vest... like... why?
@MidlandsMotorbikers Жыл бұрын
That takes the initial impact and absorbs any sharp edges whilst the airbag dissipates the energy around the rider absorbing the rest
@adam346 Жыл бұрын
@@MidlandsMotorbikers so its a short-cut they didn't bother to do for any other part of the vest? Because either the armor is needed for the vest to work properly/more effectively or they are buying a $30-50 back protector and charging the consumer more for something they could optionally do themselves... because I supremely doubt they charge cost for the addition of it.
@Shadow__133 Жыл бұрын
@@adam346What's the best alternative? Bubble wrap?
@adam346 Жыл бұрын
@@Shadow__133 my complaint isn't actually towards the inflatable part of the vest.. it's towards the included CE level 2 back protector.. feels like a way to offload some unsold stock while jacking up the price.
@briangc1972 Жыл бұрын
@@adam346 That is an ignorant statement. As said earlier, the back protector is so if your back impacts a rock, curb, guard rail, etc the force is spread over a large flat area. Without the back protector, the hard object could still damage your spine. The inflated bag would bend and conform around the hard object and could allow your spine to be injured. This is like a pillow between the hard back protector and your spine. More layers of protection for your spine.
