I’ve been riding 30+ years and like you I don’t feel comfortable on a bike without my air vest. I haven’t had any offs yet but I feel just that little bit safer in the knowledge that I am giving myself the best chance to minimise injuries if the worst happens. 😊

I live here in the US, the San Francisco area. Have owned the tethered Turtle 2 for two years and also have the eTurtle. I write for Web Bike World and reviewed both for them, along with the Alpinestars TechAir 3 and 5, the HMOOV Helite, and the Mo'Cycle jeans. I'm currently testing the DAir, KLIM, REV'IT, and HELD. Will be doing a comparison piece on all of these. I've been fortunate to deploy all but the DAir myself using the individual company's triggers. Deployed my tethered Helite falling off of my bike. I wear the KNOX jacket or the Alpinestars Halo Drystar on hot days. Both flow air very well wearing the Turtle vests. Replaced the Turtle back protectors with KNOX level 2 units. More airflow using that back protector and more pliable for storage in my top box. I ride a 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4S Sport.

Would it be detrimental for the functionality of the vest (a k.a. less safe) if you wear a rucksack on top? I like the helite h-moov, but the vest seems to have you better covered (specially around the hips)

I had the lanyard version, 1st edition. Had an accident on the freeway/motorway and it protected me very good. Slammed on the asphalt with my back and my right side, but had no major injuries. The cannisterholder was totally ripped tho so i couldn't use it anymore.

I have just brought the e-moov backpack. I wanted an air vest but want to use a backpack. So this seemed a great idea. Only been out once with it and removed the backpack section as didn't need it. Spent 5 hours riding and it was very comfortable. Didn't blow up so that's good 👍. I too consider it essential and won't ride without it or any of my full gear. Thanks for the run through of your experience.

The electronnic is good if u get rear ended. Did you say that it will inflate if your going below 10mph? that cant be right
@RevZolution9 ай бұрын
It will only inflate over 10mph. However, if you get the fork sensor then it'll inflate under 10mph and stationary
@steve00alt709 ай бұрын
but if your slowing down and waiting in a long que will it randomly go off?
@RevZolution6 ай бұрын
@steve00alt70 no it shouldn't. It's complex design shouldn't allow for that. It is designed to activate if it senses a loss of control or you come off. But with the fork sensor on it'll work under 10mph as well.

Fantastic review just what I have been searching for a review from someone like who rides almost everyday. Got rear ended while stationary 12 days ago in the Alps while leading 8 guys on tour luckily on the last day before heading home. The bike is probably a write off and I had some quite severe torso injuries broken ribs internal bleeding etc. This type of air bag with the sensor would definitely have minimised my injuries which are going to take months to recover from especially at my age. Thank you, definitely going down this route and this has helped me cut through the crap. Great vid quality and sound, managed to salvage my cameras but lost my brand new Dji Mic 2 in the crash. FB👍

@forestboy54 hi. Thank you so much for your detailed comment. I'm sorry to hear about the incident. Wishing you a speedy recovery. I'm in the Alps at the moment. And I've got my E Vest on every day. I've now got the fork sensor as well. Added reassurance 🙂 hopefully you'll hit subscribe and catch my review with the fork sensor and trip across Europe which I'm currently filming. If you do purchase one. Could you let Helite know my video helped you with your decision 🙂

I looked at a lot before settling on this one. I wasn't happy paying a subscription for ones that go under jackets. But now I have this one I ride with it all the time and don't worry about showing off my nice expensive jackets🤣
@ciaravino207574 ай бұрын
Up until now they were inferior. The Klim one may offer similar coverage though. However, you have to make sure your jacket has enough room to accommodate the expansion - which probably means buying a new jacket.

Interesting vid thanks for making this I ride with the Helite GP Air lanyard version when on track but wanted something for the road. I looked to the Turtle as i loved my GP Air but due to using RST jackets for the road all of them have a speed hump and the turtle does not work with a speed hump. So have bought myself an RST adventure jacket with an in motion electronic airbag in it for about £100 less then the turtle so worth a look.

Plus I'm a Paramedic and people very regularly pull out in front of the Ambulance with all lights ans sirens so......we are programmed to focus on what can cause us damage on the roads. For a car it's vans, buses lorries ect

I have been riding with a hi viz vest for years. Only once had a car swerved in my lane. Recently I did a short ride across the city without my hi viz vest. Two cars swerved in my lane during that ride. It does make a difference. EDIT: adding to that, I always ride with my headlights on as well. To my idea, hi viz clothing is way more visible than your motorcycle lights.
